Barack's Teleprompter Smackdown

What you saw last night was Obama without the benefit of a teleprompter telling him what to say. At one point he looked behind them maybe thinking there might be one back there to give him words of wisdom. What was with his looking down the majority of the time and not looking Romney straight in the eyes. It is said that you can tell when someone is lying because they won't look you directly in the eye. What we saw last night in the first of the debates was proof of that. Obama tried to spin the spin but how does one defend failure. He couldn't wouldn't and shouldn't.

It was like watching WWF Midget Wrestling where there was a mental midget (Obama) trying to kick the kneecaps of a man who knew his business (Romney). Obama has ridden along for close to four years without being challenged and his first go around in the ring was a smack down. Without that teleprompter strapped to his head he's lost.

At one point last night I thought maybe it would have been better to have the usual empty chair on stage rather than slipping Barack Obama up there. Last night the Cult of Personality took a serious shot in the shorts because the Lame Stream Media couldn't control what was put before the American public. We moved from the realm of a snake oil salesmen selling "hope and change" to the world of reality that now that we are actually making a "choice" based upon someone who now has a failed record as the yardstick.

I had to chuckle this morning about some of the one liners I read. One that will always stick in my mind concerns Eric Holder now sending Jim Lehrer to GITMO for not protecting the Midget-In-Chief. It was amusing to watch as far left pundit after pundit started throwing their Messiah under the bus after the debate was over.

Chrissy Throws A Hissy! The Tingle Must Be Gone!

Some of the left's reactions:

Chris Matthews -- “We have our knives out! We go after the people and the facts! What was Obama doing tonight — he went in there disarmed!”
Bill Maher -- "Obama looks like he DOES need a teleprompter"
Michael Moore -- "This is what happens when you pick John Kerry as your debate coach"

Was that a debate or the spanking that Obama has had coming since he assumed office? I'd suggest that during the next debate prep sessions that they find someone besides Lurch Kerry to be a stand in.

Might Wanna Get A New Coach Next Time...

Source

The contrast between the two men was stark. Romney appeared friendly, his points had substance not driven by ideology but based on practical business experience. He presented rational, well thought out counter arguments when Obama started spouting his ideological theories. Obama was head down and smirking at times which people don't usually cotton to. I used to call him Smirksalot and might have to go back to that nickname. He tried to sell his progressive ideology as if socialism is as natural as breathing air.

Now it was funny when at one point he asked the moderator to move on to the next subject. I reckon he thought he had taken enough of a pummeling. The tactic seemed more than a bit familiar in retrospect. It is exactly what he did when he first assumed office. Here we were as a nation experiencing the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression (a favorite Obamaism). Rather than deal with the economy and creating jobs he ducked and off he went for 2 years diddling with Obamacare. The whole time since he has played the blame game about his failure to lead. You saw a lot of it again last night and Romney wasn't about to let him get away with it. Leaders don't place blame they lead from the front and rarely from the rear.

Exchange of the night: “Right now, you can actually take a deduction for moving a plant overseas. I think Americans would say that doesn't make sense," President Barack Obama said.

'It doesn't make sense," Romney agreed. “Look, I've been in business for 25 years. I have no idea what you're talking about. I maybe need to get a new accountant.”

The reason it doesn't make sense is because it isn't so. Read the link below. There is no telling what lie Obama is capable of telling his sheeple, not We, the People...

A Reminder...

For those who have been thinking about voting for a third party candidate you need to reconsider. Four more years of Obama and this nation you won't recognize. Please don't waste even one vote thinking that your protest is a better cause. We still have a lot of work to do. The 2010 election was the beginning and there is much work to be done. We gave Obama a chance and all those empty promises were just that. Every time Romney brought another one to Obama's attention, the head went down, the eyes became hooded and usually the smirk came to his face. If you voted for him in 2008 that smirk was for you. He got you the first time on "hope and change." An empty suit is just that and so is that empty chair that needs a leader sitting in it.

Yes, there was a smackdown and Obama had to profit the Cult of Personality and didn't find it comfortable to do so. I wouldn't find it odd if he tries to have the next debate teleprompter fed. How dare a mere mortal challenge the ideology of The One! What is this nation coming to? Hopefully to its senses.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: We've gone from the world's greatest economic superpower to a Barack Obama economy where Democratic leaders like Nancy Pelosi claim food stamps and unemployment benefits are economic activity. And in our final death throes under Obama we've become “The Suicide Economy.”

The differences were so stark last night that you have to be blind not to see them. I'm praying some minds were made up last night that America just can't take another 4 years of Obama and his ideology.

I surfed CNN and MSNBC just to be fair and balanced and it was fun to note that Wolf and Anderson were flabbergasted and stunned. Chris Matthews had a meltdown. It was a clear win for Romney and they couldn't spin anything about it.

It was almost painful to see Obama get his butt kicked that badly. It should have become very clear to anyone watching how little Obama really understands about the economy, taxes, budgets, and everything else he is in charge of. I would be sure that party loyalty will still require many to declare their boy the winner, but in their hearts they know the difference.

AaronHubb89 4 years ago

Another funny statement about last night was when Obama said that he had been fighting for "us" since Day 1 he took office (or after he was elected, it doesn't matter) because I was reminded of the time(s) he would take spending on vacation. How many vacations did this man need?! We're going through economical turmoil and he's out living the high life. You don't get a break as the President, you should be the hardest working of us all, you rest when your job is done and that is four years away from your election. lol Now obviously a minor break is okay but all the vacations were disgusting while I'm lying a hospital bed from a cardiac arrest and we don't know how we're going to pay the bills. Thanks Obamacare.

Lynn - For sure Chrissy Matthews wasn't getting that tingle up his leg after that shellacking.

Mike - You hit on the reason for his failure. He knows nothing about economics but likes to pretend that he does.

Aaron - Recover my brother. Maybe now Obama will curtail his golf outings too. It's too late now but what the hell. I'm tired of paying his green's fees.

I enjoyed every minute of the debate. Obama looked like a skinny confused and sometimes snarky version of the arrogant guy he plays when he has his friend the teleprompter beside him. He couldn't move his head from side to side without it so he looked down instead. Splendid performance. My heart is singing. Up and awesome all the way.

I understand that the Obama teleprompter is calling foul. It wants the next debate to be between Romney and an empty seat as long as the empty seat can use the teleprompter.

Romney said, "Fine but I want Clint to moderate."

(Still waiting for a reponse from the teleprompter).

tsadjatko - Now that's funny! I'm wondering if our usual internet trolls are going to come out to play today or they might be thinking it's best to hang their heads like Obama was hanging his.

Actually Obama did very well defending the indefensible. I was really expecting him to not show up or run out the back door crying - when facing the truth in the open that is usually what liars do.The trolls would say he was brave and courageous to just show up, no doubt.

I saw the genuine passion come out in Romney in this debate...something I have waited for since he received the nomination. He did not need a teleprompter or notes for that matter because he was speaking from his heart with a true belief in the values and principles which have made this great nation. I saw a lot of moments as he delivered his verbage that compared to my reactions when Ronald Reagan spoke. Romney's message made it clear that he had no need nor intention to dismantle this country to fix it. His response on Obamacare, pointing out the way in which it was rammed through the Congress contrast to the consensus mode in which the legislators of Massachussetts worked together to achieve their healthcare system. He talked strongly on getting the private sector sparked and increase the revenue growth with that expansion the economy....loved that! Lastly, he never allowed the President to falsely accuse him of planning to take $5 trillion out of the economy as part of his plan....he took it back to him every time until finally I just do not believe Obama knew where to go. The initial ploy had not worked thus the plot going downstream had no thread. Obama, early on, found himself having to improvise on his own. Romney spoke of passions and drive of the American people. Obama spoke of regulation and growth in government. No doubt, Romney gets it in terms of the government being "of the people" and not "over the people". Overall, I thought the debate had much more substance than I have seen out of that process in a long while. Jim Leherer had a tough time but I really liked the way he posed the questions and left a level playing field upon which each man could state his case and point. We need more of the same downstream. ~WB

It was so great to see Romney's passion and his contrast to Obummer's ideology! Fresh air! To quote Foxnews, he seemed "to have had the hope and change drained from him." Wow!

The same occurred to me that occurred to Ann Coulter - Obama acted like he really didn't need or want the job. But the left machine will be lashing out at Romney in the MSM with any big guns they have been holding back.

Let us all keep praying daily for the Lord to confound our enemies, and strengthen the American people. The Lord is faithful.

OH, when Obama looked back, it was after a rather loud noise. I still wonder what that noise was, since we could hear it but not see it.

AaronHubb89 4 years ago

I don't think the Obama fanatics will come out today because while I was watching the debate live on the Huffington Post website, the tweets were raving about how "stupid Romney looked" or "how Obama makes everyone look bad" and "those are cool suits" and "blue and red ties! Really guys?" So many morons were plugging their ears and just watching the pictures.

tsadjatko profile image

tsadjatko 4 years ago from maybe (the guy or girl) next door

Aaron, morons is right! And the biggest moron? Whoever told Obama the way to prepare for a debate is to do interviews with:

Entertainment Tonight, People Magazine, The View, David Letterman Jimmy Falon and Glamour Magazine while not having a news conference in about 7 months!

Guess the "eye candy" strategy may work with The View ladies and their audience but it's a weak debate strategy! For those of you who don't watch The View (I don't blame you) he said on the View “I've been told I'm just eye candy here”!

Wonder why he didn't use that zinger last night?

That is hilarious, the more these people speak the more they make themselves look like fools. It's cool riding smoothly through the 4 year period of Presdiency, but get someone in there to challenge Obama who is able to dish it as well as he can take it, then everyone freaks out.

If I may make a Batman reference, it's like the Joker said in The Dark Knight, nobody panics as long as everything goes according to plan.

Romney slaughtered Obama last night, much better than I expected and to my delight. He did not let him get away with the lies and called him out on everything; exactly what I wanted to see from Romney. He needs to do the same thing for the next 2 debates. Even AARP is deserting Obama; doesn't want him to use their name to endorse Obamacare any longer.

@Lynn Murphy - regarding your point about minds being made up last night, after the debate Hannity had a live focus group of voters on with Frank Lutz as the moderator. The group was about 30 local folks from Denver/Colorado; most all had voted in the last Presidential, and a good number of them voted for Obama. Only 3 said they would vote for him again.

TFTP - Obama is out today yakking his chops about Romney telling lies last night. He's doing his usual comedy schtick to his hand picked audiences. What a chump the guy is. He can't take a well deserved licking without beginning to whine and call someone else a liar. The Liar-In-Chief himself casting that stone? My oh my...

While watching the debate, I kept thinking back to Clint Eastwood and the empty chair. It was just a stage prop to Eastwood. But, it represented Obama so well, as we saw first hand last night as Obama showed what he is, a clueless man who wants to be President for the perks, not the work involved to be the leader of the free world.

AaronHubb89 4 years ago

@TheFewTheProud

Yeah, I had heard the same thing that you did about that focus group. That's awesome, I'm sorry for that schmuck to get out of office.

David - When he started talking about being a leader and leadership I was amazed. He knows nothing about it. His idea of leading is from the rear. All of the sudden now he wants to step up to the plate and become a leader. That is something you learn and not everyone is cut out to do it.

He's an empty suit not sitting in that empty chair. It's funny listening to his handlers today put their spin on his failed performance last night.

This one is probably my favorite, Mr. Obama says that the Mitt Romney we saw last night was not the REAL Mitt Romney, however, he does realize that if one spins that point around, we very much saw the REAL Barack Obama.

I'm not surprised that Obama froze when Romney hit him with facts. This is where all liberals fall apart. Their positions and actions are never based on facts, so they fail, and we need to "move to the next question" as you pointed out. Absent fraud, I think Romney would have a good chance. But we know the ACORN machine will be in full swing, and Obama will be controlling vote counting via the Spanish company he outsourced vote counting to. By hook or by crook, I doubt Obama will give up power.

This debate proved one thing, without someone telling Obama what to say or for him to read what to say, he is lost. Also without a teleprompter, it shows Obama clearly does not know the issues let alone understand how to fix them.

I notice the usual Trolls must be sleeping late this morning. Or could it be that for once they have little or nothing to say?

They can't believe the polls - Wolf Blitzer went nuts giving poll after poll result of registered voters as Romney beat Obama on performance, leadersip, likeability you name it! But what he didn't say was that was even with the polls being weighted 4 points higher with democrats than republicans. 4 points higher yet they still call them "scientific" polls!

I saw a clip of Obama in Denver today lighting into Romney totally different composure than last night - oh, that is because he was back on the teleprompter! Will someone do a poll of Obama vrs. the teleprompter? You know who will win.

I honestly believe it was more than the lack of a teleprompter. At first, the President seemed okay. Not great, but holding his own. When Romney began to point out the, hmm...we'll call them inaccuracies, in his statements though, the President shut down. I guess he thought that Romney would simply stand by (like all the media does) and let him tell his little fibs. He was spouting his spoonfed BS and when he got called out was clueless. It was obvious that he really has no grasp on the economy and how it actually works at all. It was amusing to see him go back to his lies after the debate though. Where he knew no one would challenge his BS. It is also apparent the President does not understand the jobs report in the least either. Hello Mr. President! The number of jobless claims ROSE. We're still bleeding jobs. Your decline in the rate is only because all those whose benefits have run out are no longer being counted.

With his teleprompter and his hand picked gang of worshipers, he is an awesome speaker. I wonder if they would still be fainting and cheering if he told the truth about anything? Most of his fans would not recognize or appreciate the truth if it smacked them in the face.

I think it was obvious to most people during the debate that all those times that Obama was golfing and taking vacations, his empty chair at the Oval Office was really making the decisions.

I don't watch msnbc but I hear they really went bonkers over Obama's performance. I'll bet in reality it was actually funnier than this spoof by SNL but I'll settle for watching this.

It's probably difficult to tell the difference between the spoof and reality.

Frog: Once again, Jim, you've got me envying your choice of graphics. The empty podium and Kerry-as-Frankie are both classics.

One of the things that continues to amaze me is the willingness of virtually every politician in the entire Democratic party to parrot the Line of the Day. It doesn't matter who you hear on the radio. Since the debate, if it's a Democrat talking, he or she will inevitably spout concerns over the "$5 trillion tax break for the wealthy", "Romney lied," and a few other chosen "gems" chosen by the DOOFUS (Democrat Overlords Ordering Foolish Utterances Simultaneously).

For those of us old enough to remember what I'm referring to, it's like the old hand crank is popping out wet-ink copy after wet-ink copy, two-dimensional caricatures of real humans issuing forth from a mimeograph machine.
