The Fire Challenge

Updated on October 8, 2014

Introduction

Hey guys, I wanted to blog today about something that is all to familiar now days. I'm sure you've heard of it, it's called "The Fire Challenge".

I was scrolling down my news feed on Facebook and came across a really disturbing picture of some kid setting himself on fire. Now, before I go into my thoughts and feelings about this so called trend I want to add that I have not and will not participate in such a foolish act. I'm also not trying to poke fun at anyone, it's just my personal opinion and thoughts.

What is the Fire Challenge

The Fire Challenge consist of random people (mostly kids) putting some type of liquid on their body such as rubbing alcohol and/or nail polish remover, then lighting themselves on fire.

My Thoughts

Now, I know what your thinking, You're thinking what sane person would light themselves on fire? My answer to that would be that I have NO IDEA!!! This challenge has to be the weirdest, lowest ,most foolish thing I have ever seen in all of my life. The worst part isn't that its on social media, it's that kids are doing this thinking that its cool. Children have suffered 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns from this. It's very dangerous and I'm fearful that this won't be the last.

I have no idea who starts these challenges or who thinks they are a good idea but my question is and will always be the same. At what point did setting yourself on fire become cool?? The only thing I can come up with, is that people are watching way to much television/movies and getting obsessed with Facebook, YouTube and Twitter like.

When did getting likes on social networks become more important than your life?

Before you go, I want to ask for some feedback on this topic. Below will be a poll and a rating of the topic with questions that I personally have. Thank you all for reading this short article and have a blessed day!!
