The Great Uniter Or Divider?

Just Rhethoric

I remember well how giddy the Lame Stream Media and the koolaid crowd was when Obama was elected in 2008. They had bought into that "hope and change" thing hook, line and sinker. But this is now and many aren't so giddy anymore. Then I hear, "You're not giving him a chance." Really? Going on 4 years now and it isn't looking good for the "hope and change" crowd The problem with those two words is that they are only two words, in his case empty ones. So while I watch the attack dogs go through their routines in the Republican primaries, I will continue to concentrate on Obama and his failed policies and how empty his rhetoric really is. He initially promised to "heal the planet" if my memory serves me well which was an instant "pop up" on just how narcissistic the man really is. So lets see what he said once again back when.

Good Grief! People Actually Bought Into That?

Humility? Obama? Then the statement about his limitations make it even more hilarious. The oceans will recede and he thinks he can heal the planet. That's humility? Is anyone really paying attention to the words that come out of his mouth and comparing them to reality? I know I do. So lets take a look at where we are as a country going on four years of his stewardship. He can't run on his record so his tactic this time around won't be on "uniting" this nation but on waging class warfare and pitting Americans against each other. He started that early on if you've been paying attention and some I see have now bought into that hook, line and sinker.

A stroll through his accomplishments, or lack thereof, vividly puts on display why he can't run on his record so lets take a look at the havoc he has wrought. This isn't going to be pretty but needs to be outlined for those who still believe the "Change We Can Believe In" signs that they liked to wave back then. Since this is "About The Economy Stupid," I will put the spotlight on that area because the economy is in dismal shape even though he said he could fix it in three years or it would be a one term proposition.

The focus will be on where we were on Inauguration Day and where we are right now. Brace yourselves.

1) He started out with unemployed Americans sitting at 12 million and it has risen to 13.1 million even with all the smoke and mirrors jobs he created and saved. That's a net loss of 1.1 million jobs, The unemployment rate was 7.5% and now sits at the smoke and mirrors figure of 8.5%. Do the math. This is despite his wasteful stimulus plan that would ensure that rate never went above 8%. Remember all those shovel ready projects?

2) Then there is the deal with gas prices. He inherited gas at $1.85 per gallon and depending where you live right now the average is $3.39. So how do we measure his energy success besides watching as his "green" companies go belly up one after another? Fuel prices only increased by a mere 83% since he took office, but we're going to become Brazil's best customer.

3) He's increased the federal deficit by 43% since he took office. What do we have to show for that? Look above and then continue to read. The deficit stood at 10.6 trillion when he sat in that chair and is now sitting at 15 plus trillion and counting as the Democratically controlled Senate can't seem to pass a budget in over 1,000 days. He failed to mention this in his SOTU address this year.

4) Then there is Obamacare, not very popular with the majority of folks, which we were told was going to cause premiums to go down and make it more affordable. Here's the real skinny. Worker insurance costs have risen from $3,354 to $4,129 which is a mere 23% increase. How affordable can it get? It will get worse before it ever gets any better.

5) The debt that every man, woman and child owes to pay for all of his nonsense has risen from $34,731 to $48,669 per head of sheeple. Do the math then ask yourself if you're prepared to stroke that check.

6) Home values have decreased in value from the average of $169,700 to $147,800. That's only a 13% decrease in the biggest investment any of us ever make. Had an appraisal on your place done lately?

7) The Misery Index has risen from 7.8 to 11.9 but his economic recovery efforts have born the fruits of our misery.

8) Under the guidance of The Food Stamp President the number of Americans on funny money has risen from 32 million Americans to 46 million. That's only an insignificant rise of 45%, isn't that right Obama.

9) It naturally follows that the poverty level has increased from 39.8 million to 46.2 million due to his failed policies and efforts to make more people dependent on the federal government. That's the Democratic Party way. They have those folks right where they want them - in the Nanny State where they can be controlled through the ballot box.

10) For those of you who still have children in college you watched tuition costs rise from $6,591 to $8,244 a year on average. Things are looking good again huh? But Obama just said in his SOTU that he is going to fix that. Please. Spare us your fixes Obama. They always have the opposite effect.

11) Oh and did I mention that our Global Competitiveness Rate has declined from being 1st to 5th? Wait a minute here. I just heard him say how respected the nation is now around the world because of his stewardship.

My fellow Hubber - BPOP - does a weekly PIP/POP Awards ceremony which I thoroughly enjoy if you've never attended then you may want to check her out. But today I wish to make a special award that is much deserved to President Obama. It's named the Obie Award and is justifiably named after the recipient. President Obama - front and center as we call it in the military. This one's for you.

How about a round of applause?

So for all you "hopers and changers" this is what you asked for. In the meantime, those of us who knew better in the first place have had to suffer through three plus years of Obama's teleprompter opening its pie hole and spieling forth nonsense that he wants you to continue to slurp up.

I saw a great bumper sticker the other day. Here's what it said:

Now that's a needed change I can believe in. Four more years of this guy and those stats above will be even graver than they already are. But on the bright side, according to Obama we're not in a recession. Since when?

Here's one person's definition of empty rhetoric I can see in the inaction of Obama, and I quote:

"consists essentially of hollow promises-words uttered without any attempt to take the actions necessary to back them up."

Obama, like most Politicians, has never had to sweat over making payroll this week. Many small business people have found themselves in the position of praying some of their clients pay their bill on time so they have enough money to pay their employees. He has virtually unlimited funding, and if he runs short they can just quickly print up some more money for him to use. Running a small business in this less than booming economy would be a great training tool for any Politician.

This President is a joke in all money related matters. He sold the hope and change thing like a true "snake oil salesman," and voters bought it. I hope most have now learned their lesson when it comes to hope and change.

Guess what? there are several court cases, one in particular in Georgia questioning Obama's right to be on 2012 primary ballot. Case was heard on Jan 26th, and, of course, Obama was a no show. Judge was going to make a default judgment, but lawyers wanted to submit evidence Juge Michael Malichi's recommendations come down this week

Chris - FACTS are the stock of my writing. Thanks for the Kudos.

OP - I hear you Brother. Business was much better when Bush was the President. Bush had his faults too but not near what we're seeing now. People were voting against Bush in 2008 and he wasn't even on the ballot. Now we have Carter Jr at the helm.

Forlanda - They did make the Nobel Peace Prize a bit of a joke when they gave it to Obama for doing nothing. Hope and Change went a long way there too.

vrjavala - Yep and there are now 6 more state's that have jumped on that wagon. I wonder what will happen if he can't be on the ballot. Seize total power which he desires to do anyway?

Barack Obama as the kind of charisma only shared by a handful of men in our nations history. His raw talent was discovered by right wing demons early on, and he was hand-picked and carefully groomed by people a lot smarter than him for this very agenda. What we're seeing in this president is a sad waste of talent. People got a hold of him at an age in which he was very vulnerable, and a programed to him just like a missile to destroy capitalism and open the doors for their beloved socialism. What I'm trying to point out is this; Barack Obama is the result. The cause is those mad left-wing scientist who built this president. Removing this administration is only the first step. Then the real work begins.

What's happening man? Haven't seen you around in a while, and was wondering what you were up to.

No folks, Wizz isn't really an enemy. He just sees the direction in which the entire world is headed as being very negative, and he paints a picture with his words that sometimes gets misunderstood. What he sees as a reality, is actually point on in many ways. It just comes from a very dark room. As I pointed out in a private e-mail to Jim, Wizz isn't a liberal, and he isn't a conservative. He is a fatalist, and his words can be misconstrued and taken to be insulting. I honestly don't believe he means it that way. I think he is trying to show those of us who are wrapped up in politics some things underneath that we need to consider. The Wizz is very obscur, but his intentions aren't what they appear to be on the surface. I dealt this guy a world of pain before I finally figured it out. Just let him do his thing. It's actually kinda cool once you get the hang of how his paintings really work.

Just tossing in my two cents. This isn't my hub, and I got no jurisdiction here. This is Jim's place and it's got to go down the way he see's fit.

Thanks for giving me the room to toss in my spin my friend!

What I don't get is that some still believe he will do what he says when all he has done is the exact opposite. He's a master deceiver. He is a good speaker when the teleprompters work and some think is reasonably attractive. Have so many Americans become brainwashed that they just can't see through the BS, or is it that they hang on to blind hope and faith as a self defense mechanism because reality is just too terrifying? Obama's supporters who fail to recognize nor believe what has happened to our counry since he has become the president are victims of something called cognitive dissonance.

This dissonance becomes aroused when they are confronted with information that is inconsistent with their beliefs. If the dissonance is not reduced by their changing their beliefs, the result can be misperception or rejection of the facts while they seek support from others who share their beliefs. They will also attempt to persuade others in order to restore balance in their thinking.

Wizard Of Whimsy profile image

Froggy, first it wouldn't be a fair "battle"—you lack the ability to express any coherent thoughts; but more importantly, it would be a total waste of my time.

Besides, by opting out, I'll spare your readers the the tedium of your many dull-witted cliches and unimaginative use of words—let alone a dearth of any original ideas.

This man hasn't done a single thing right in three years. How can ONE administration boost our official debt 50% in just three years, given that we have been around for about 230 years? The truth is that he is oblivious to our financial crisis, is antithetical to free markets, and has scathing contempt for our Constitution. If there's one good thing that he's done, he has finally awakened us to the 100+ year march of progressivism, and convinced states to begin debating sovereignty laws that interpose against federal violations of constititional powers of the states and the people. It's tragic that it took such great economic and legal damage over three years to get our states to begin fighting back. State nullification efforts really should have started 50+ years ago, but at least they're starting. The feds will never voluntarily surrunder any power once stolen; the only way to get it back is through "formal disobediance" to any federal demand that exceeds constititional enumerated powers or properly legal federal code. Some in conservative circles are even advocting that individuals begin to nullify. The idea is to purposely break a federal law that is outside the bounds of enumerated powers, get charged, and then put on an affirmative defense in court (try to convince the jury that the federal law or regulation infracted is unconstitutional). It's risky, as losing means fines and/or jail time, but if enough people do it, the feds will have to change course, as they don't have the resources to prosecute millions of such cases. I guess the strategy is to pick some illegal federal law or regulation that doesn't carry too heavy a penalty for infraction, and demand that the jury decide questions of law based on litigant arguments as to constructionist intent of the Founders and Congress (as opposed to the judge deciding, which I believe is a right of the accused, but I'd have to check). The big nut to swallow here is that affirmative defenses ("I did it, but it was legal") shift the burden of proof to the defense - you have to prove to a moral certainty that the law or statute infracted is not legal, or you lose the case. This can be tough. Even if you can prove framer intent is on your side, the prosector will hammer away at stare decisis, pitting court precedent against the constitutional definition of judicial power (inference of originalist framer intent). A risky endeavor indeed, but if state sovereignty acts don't get us the relief we need, some of us are going to have to be the individual "sheep at the slaughter" to get rectification. Freedom, sadly, is far from free.

I am sure there are more but at least now I get why she tries so hard to persuade the rest of us that we just can't see how much "good" this administration has done.

stu , (sounds like a lawyer to me), I agree that the federal government is crossing the line and trying to supercede the rights inherent in statehood, I don't know but I truly believe there are people actively trying to ruin this country, the sheeple are pretty easy to persuade.

I just wish there were more people out there with a plan to change things back to what they were meant to be, as much as I would like to participate, I am not in a position to do so at this time, I need to help ME 1st.

Congratuations, your 11 points about the Obama administration cut right to the heart of the fallacy of leftist liberal ideas and how they'd damaged the nation.

Any success of liberal policies are always short lived and damaging in the long run. This time around the liberal big government solutions failed to even succeed in the short run.

About "his hope and change"; we can only hope to get a little change for the trillions of wasted tax dollars confiscated by the administrations for the purpose of buying votes.
