The Meaning of Insanity

Antoine is at La Table

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, November 24, 2014. Our dear ami, Antoine, is at the breakfast table. He is confused and bothered by the level of stupidity and insanity he is experiencing. For the sake of his mental health, he has asked us to join him for breakfast so he can vent. Antoine will be preparing Peach French Toast for our enjoyment. I will be serving martinis. We hope to see you soon. Bring your sense of humor and an antacid!

Silence the Music

Thank you all for joining me this morning. I appreciate your sensitivity and kindness in my time of need. Let me begin with a tale of one Florida high school that caved in to the unreasonable demands of the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of a complaint from an atheist parent who was offended by the school's concert being held in a local church's auditorium. This exact venue has been used for the last four years, but this year was just too much for this parent.

The concert was a traditional fall event. There were no religious overtones at all, but nevertheless this parent just couldn't bear the thought of this venue being used. Stupid is as stupid does and this fight is stupid. The sick part is that the school decided to cancel the concert. Bad decision in my view. One disgruntled parent does not have the right to destroy a concert for the whole school. The concert should have gone on. If the atheist parent didn't want their child to be involved, keep him or her home from school.

Get Out of My Bathroom!

A school in Minnesota, is considering instituting a "transgender" policy that would conceivably allow a female student to shower next to a male student. There are so many rights being violated here that I think I need to lie down! Transgender policies are spreading like a disease across the country. The policy is aimed at students who believe they were born a different sex from what they are living. In other words if a girl believes she was meant to be a boy and she/he wants to play football, she/he should play football and shower with the guys. If your head is spinning around like a top, consider yourself normal. How this issue of "transgender" became a hot topic, is one of the mysteries of life these days. My conclusion is that schools in Minnesota have way too much time on their hands. "Transgender Sensitivity Training" is on the way to a school near you. Good luck with that!

Soldier Father Banned From School

Kevin Wood is a veteran of the Marine corps. His daughter attends high school in Maryland. She was given an assignment which required her to examine elements of the Islamic religion. Woods and his wife objected to the assignment and voiced their concerns. The school issued a no trespass order so that the father could not come up to school. The teacher refused to assign a different topic for his daughter and, in fact, was told that she would receive a failing grade for not doing what was assigned. So much for freedom of speech and parental concerns.

Holidays Take a Holiday

A Maryland school district has decided to do away with any references to religious holidays on school calendars. The Muslim community was pressuring the school to include Muslim holidays. The school made the brilliant decision to eliminate references to all holidays. Good-bye Christmas, Easter, Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashana! The Muslim leaders zeroed in on the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha. It falls on the same day as Yom Kippur. The schools in the district of Montgomery are already closed on that day and have been since the 70's. There are not enough Muslim students in the district to warrant adding this day to the calendar. The decision to eliminate mentioning all holidays didn't satisfy anybody. The calendars will now refer to Winter Break and Spring Break. Jewish holidays will be re-named as No School! How's that for a solution!!!

Pop and Antoine,

I loved the Forrest Gump reference,"Stupid is as stupid does." Forrest was a Rhodes Scholar compared to the dimbulbs discussed in this hub.

Good MorningTome,

I should change the title to "Proof of Insanity". I don't think a day goes by that doesn't prove the validity of Forest's words. See you at the Inn. We are celebrating Thanksgiving early! I am shocked no one has come forward to say Thanksgiving is racist!

What is happening in our world? This PC stuff is getting ridiculous. The basics of our country are gone-gone-gone. You always get to the bottom of it all. Keep writing my friend. Oh yes tonight at the Inn---How about a Bacon Vodka.

The desire to be PC, and to not offend anyone, has rendered this nation paralyzed. I am so very tired of this crap...yes, crap....well, I guess that sums up my feelings. :)

pop.....You have really surprised me this morning with your work of fiction. I had no idea you had changed your writing niche.

You know I love you, but I have to tell you that I've never been a fan of spooky and frightening sci-fi.

Your story will probably cause me nightmares. I wish you could have forewarned me.

I hope you go back to writing topics that are not such outrageous bull$hit.

Thanks Pop...........

Dear fp,

Please accept my sincere apologies. I thought I would take a stab (is that politically correct?) at some over the top writing. I guess I failed. I suppose I should just stick to all the wonderful things our government is up to these days. Once again, I am sorry! I'll see you at the Inn.

Pop

You said that the subject of my hub made you sick, well I am over at the Inn not partaking large amounts of those Tums that I left for you.

The story about the Marine is directly opposite to the story about the Islamic holidays.

The American Civil Liberties Union has been on the wrong side of liberty for many decades. Why weren't they trying to get the Marine father to the school and attack the trespass order.

Why weren't they there trying to separate religion in the school which is the real problem.

The US Constitution has been riddled with so many hole, it is hard to tell it apart from a piece of Swiss Cheese.

The LGBT and the ACLU have created this transgender problem. The SCOTUS has forsaken their duty and left these issues in limbo.

The LGBT has no common denominator among its four groups, and they have no common denominator with heterosexuals.

The SCOTUS needed to settle the basis of their legal assertions as to whether they are making a Choice, clearly evident for Bisexuals. They refused to ask for Judicial Notice on the reasons for sexuality, whether it is a Choice or a Genetic Defect.

This is the same kind of problem that SCOTUS made on the right to life Roe v Wade decision of the seventies. In that case, they ignored defining the moment a life legally exists as a human. This has caused the issue of Abortion to be unsettled even after its Roe v Wade decision.

For the LGBT, there hasn't even been any serious discussion on how to merge them into the traditional heterosexual world. So for now, transgender appears to be the wild card in the deck of life. It can choose either gender depending on its desire.

The only viable solution is to make everything COED.

Thanks

Political correctness has been taken to insane extremes, there is no doubt about that. Free speech is something I think we are both passionate about, even if we may quibble over ideological details. It always amazes me how one stuffy crackpot in a crowd of say, 1000, gets to control what the other 999 are doing. Great hub!

Yeah, really pop.......stick with the government....that's spooky enough. Actually all this insanity is related to all the rest....The Govt's connected to the Country...the Country connected to the politicians....politicians connected to the people...the people connected to the bull$shit......and Hey, why don't you write a song?

The story about the father being banned from school - from what I've read he's being banned because he was threatening to cause a disturbance. Who knows if that is an exaggeration or not. But certainly, if he objects to his daughter's assignment on these kinds of grounds, it ought to be honored.

I have four adult sons ranging in age from 22-40. I noticed with their "History" classes there was a very heavy emphasis on Islam. Christianity, Judaism got a polite nod, and all the rest were left out. With exception of my 22 year old, these studies were before 9/11. It really bothered me. It was a history class, not a comparative religion class. Had it been just a chapter I wouldn't have balked, but it was a good portion of the textbook. My question is Why? Why is it so important for the department of education or whomever, to have such an extreme emphasis on Islam?

The other stories are just plain ridiculous. Our forefathers are rolling around in their caskets. Please, no one get offended by this reference to the Bible, I am not preaching religion, but noting that there is a verse in the Bible says "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil..." (Is. 5:20. whether you are a believer or religious person or not, this is what is happening in our society. America better change it's ways or it will implode on itself. EVERY great empire has fallen. American will too and it will be their own fault.

In my view of the world the real problem is in the reporting. They always leave out the name of the person who actually made the insane decision. They always say "the teacher," "the principal," or the "city council" has decided things will be a different way. These are just titles and very impersonal.

If they said, "The Principal, Stu Ped, has decided to cancel the performance so as not to offend the Muslims I would at least know whom to call or write. Rarely in these situations does the person responsible get held accountable for making a really stupid decision.

The PC police are everywhere these days, and will miss no opportunity to nail someone to the cross for what they perceive to be a civil rights violation. And far to many school and other officials are deathly afraid of the PC Police. Could that be because the school administration would not back them up if they made the right decision?

Wow, have we suddenly moved to a different planet overnight? This is not the world I grew up in. Political correctness etc is out of control. I am from Australia and though not to the same extreme as what you describe, I do see it happening increasingly. When will people come to their senses and realise these things are getting out of control. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving, so have a great Christmas. Voted up.

POP: late as usual. Anyway, the views of the few become the change of the community. Too Bad. Laws are made because of the acts of the few, as well. We need to rise up and advise the school systems that their actions to cancel concerts are wrong. If you don't want to go to the concert, then don't go. Don't make it wrong for all. School systems are babies, not wanting to buck the system. I'm off to the bar now, where it is safe.

Pop and Antoine...I feel your outrage...If someone like Teddy Roosevelt were to witness this insanity called political correctness he would rewrite his 'The Man in the Arena' speech he made over 100 years ago defining what it means to be an unhyphenated American...PC has invaded academia, the work environment, politics, and the Arts...A cultural shift that spawns such entities as the food police, the speech police, and the thought police...1984 is here dressed in the innocent sounding names of diversity, gender-norming, affirmative action, and religious neutrality...The individual has been sacrificed at the altar of collectivism...

See you at the Inn, Pop...Make my martini dry and up...

Good Morning lambservant,

The father contends that he had no intention of causing any trouble. He just wanted to speak to the principal. In any event, the school's treatment of him was deplorable. It is interesting to read your experience with what your children are being taught. I wrote about this very thing today and I will publish it tomorrow. I applaud you for being up on what is in the textbooks. The situation, in my view, has become very dangerous. See you at the Inn.

Good Morning maven,

Your analysis of the present and probable future state of affairs is spot on and alarming. Where is the outrage about decisions that make no sense and affect so many people? Is it possible that the average American doesn't see the insanity of being PC and all the harm it has caused I blame our education system for producing a nation of citizens who can't think their way out of a paper bag. See you at the Inn. Your martini awaits your arrival.

This will no doubt harsh and cruel to many.

In the animal kingdom the survival of the fittest rule has and will always apply. This is natures way of keeping the species strong and the population under control and balanced. Until humans get involved and try to eliminate this harsh law of nature it works quite well.

Majority rule has also worked quite well in most situations. But now we have decided to cater to the smallest minority groups and totally ignore the wants and needs of the masses. It is unfortunate but there will always be a few who just don't measure up to the standards and abilities of the majority. They should receive additional help but attempting to bring the majority down to their level is not the answer.

A 23 year-old I know recently told me that he was stopped by his principal in the (highschool) hallway and told to remove his necklace, which had a cross on it. He was 17 or 18 at the time. I couldn't believe it! Had this happened to my son, I would have been outraged, and the principal would have received a visit. It would not have been pretty. So, apparently this nonsense is going on everywhere, and for quite some time now. It really is beyond crazy.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 2 years ago Author

Dear savvydating,

Yes, this insanity has been going on for quite some time. In fact, it is escalating every passing day. I suppose those that hate America and want to change it, have to go after religion first. The Nazis and Communists did that exact thing. I'll be at the Inn in a few minutes. I'll save you a seat!
