The POTUS To-Do List

Manny Prays for Our Future

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, October 6, 2014. Our pious friend, Praying Mantis Manny, is at the breakfast table. He has been pondering the almost six years of the rule of Obama and his conclusions add up to a bleak present and an even darker future. Manny has asked me to extend a breakfast invitation to all of you. He is preparing a batch of luscious donuts. One of the breakfastpoppers, bradmaster, put in a request for this kind of breakfast, so donuts it is. Manny and I will be anxiously awaiting your arrival. We hope to see you soon.

The List

President Obama came into office with an ambitious list of things he was determined to accomplish. Thus far, he is succeeding in bringing his list to life, to the delight of many and the despair of most. He is almost six years into his presidency and he is attacking the foundations of the nation like a man on a mission. We still don't know where he came from or who sent him here, but we do know the results of his coming. Let's pretend that we are in possession of the POTUS T0-Do List and see how Obama is doing.

Source

Ignore Congress

Number one on the POTUS List has to be the undermining of Congress. President Obama came in determined to have his way, and so far he is doing a remarkable job. He has faithfully refused to execute the laws as written and passed by Congress and he has effectively usurped Congressional authority. Way to go, Mr. President! He told the nation that he had a phone and a pen and he is wielding both quite effectively. Oh sure there is a whole lot of grumbling going on, but not much action. He is a one man show in terms of rule by executive fiat. Where did he learn to do that? I doubt it was at Harvard.

Source

Fire the Military!

As Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces he has decided to get rid of the best and brightest in the military. After all, why keep men with experience around when you have no intention of taking their advice. He pulled out of Iraq against the advice of people who knew better and now we have ISIS on our backs. Oh well, it really isn't the president's fault that ISIS filled the void. It is the fault of Fox News or President Bush or Smokey the Bear, but it is definitely not the fault of the president.

Source

And Justice for Some

Overhauling the Department of Justice was definitely on the to-do list. Installing Eric Holder as the Attorney General was a brilliant move. Mr. Holder brought all his bias to the department and insured that racism was re-invigorated into America life. After all, without racism what would Rev. Sharpton or Jesse Jackson have to do. President Obama and Eric Holder used the Department of Justice as their personal playing and leveling field. With Holder in charge it was and is possible to label terrorism as workplace violence. Holder is resigning but, no doubt, a Holder think alike will take his place. Long live the racial divide and the totally inadequate execution of the laws as written.

Source

Scandals and More Scandals

What is the big deal about a few scandals in Washington. We should be used to it by now. The Obama Administration is awash in scandal and thus far not one of them has been dealt with to the satisfaction of almost no one but President Obama and his friends in high places. The VA scandal has yet to be resolved, but isn't the military famous for the line, " hurry up and wait?" The Benghazi tragedy is finally being looked into again, but if it places responsibility on the guilty parties I will be very surprised. Oh, then there is the matter of the IRS being used as a personal tool of retribution by President Obama. I have said it before and I will say it again, it's good to be the King! Remember Bergdahl, the guy who walked off the military base right into the loving arms of the Taliban? Well, so far he is doing just fine. No charges have been filed against him and that is a sweet thing for the president who must defend his decision to trade one alleged deserter for five confirmed terrorists. That was a deal made somewhere, but it certainly wasn't in heaven. This president carries a big ax and he doesn't mind using it. He has given the EPA the authority to go after law abiding citizens trying to a make a living. He has issued so many new regulations that no one knows what the laws are anymore. He has managed to corral all the powers vested in departments of the government to do his dirty work.

A discussion of Barack Obama's presidency would not be complete without his total refusal to enforce the immigration laws. He has invited half the world to walk right in, apply for benefits and be taken care of at taxpayer expense. What a brilliant move on his part. These people will vote eventually and they will all be grateful Democrats. Now that is a brilliant move. Of course, one day soon the free ride will run dry, but he'll cross that bridge, or not, when he comes to it.

Last, not least and certainly not only, is President Obama's most memorable accomplishment, the Affordable Care Act. That was a coup if there ever was one. It isn't affordable, popular or user friendly, but President Obama said it was working so that's that! The fun part for him is that he can and he has changed it so many times that no one understands it at all. In any case, the fact that people don't seem to like it has nothing to do with him and everything to do with Fox News! President Obama is the least understood man on earth and we have a few people on a cable news channel to thank for that. Life can be so strange sometimes.

Manny - We often hear people discussing what a poor leader our President has been. On the contrary, he is a brilliant leader who put exactly the right people in positions of power to carry out his intended mission. If one really analyses the appointments he has made during his two terms in office, there is a definit pattern.

He was able to pick people who would not only support what he wanted to do, but were willing to fall on the sword and take the blame when things went wrong. Never in the history of this country has any President prior to Obama been able to surround himself with a human shield like this.

It is unknown if these willing sacrificial lambs were promised things we don't know of, or if they are just part of the cult that worships this President.

When it comes to his promise to change America, he has been highly successful. Unfortuantely, not all of these changes were good for America.

It is about the people of the US and as long as we accept we will accept what is going on. I also think we really do not know what is going on in Washington. We can only believe what we read--and you know all about that.

Good Morning Mike,

Actually, I don't believe Obama made any decisions on his own and I don't think he is brilliant. I have always believed that he is a puppet on a string, a fabrication of other's desires. He was groomed for this role and he is being a dutiful soldier. See you at the Inn and we'll talk some more.

Pop

I am concerned that the voters are going into the midterm election without getting a fix on the positions of the candidates, and the incumbents. The voters can't fix a problem if they don't know the problem. There needs to be a commitment from both parties on how they will handle the president and the issues in the next two years.

Otherwise, it will be more legislation via executive orders, and a continuing gridlock in congress.

I suspect that the voters will let the country down, once again.

Thanks

bradmaster

Time was when government and industry was ruled by the Peter Principle which said people are eventually promoted to the level of their incompetency. There was some comfort in this law because it required the process of time and promotion.

The prez has circumvented that rule by plucking highly intellectual (with radical beliefs) individuals from the weeds of academia and immediately placed them in positions of power and importance.

His only advice to his department heads are 1. Drive it like you stole it. 2. Don't worry if you wreck it. 3. Always wear armour in case I need to throw you under the bus. 4. I'll be on the golf course...don't bother me.

Thus he can go to the idiots who elected and proudly say.

1. We won. We get what we want.

2. Bin Laden is dead--and I replaced him with something better.

3. There is not one OBVIOUS iota of corruption in the IRS

4. All allegations of wrongdoing in my administration are leaks from George Bush the Republicans or the Media.

5. Harry Reid couldn't be here with me today. He had to stay in Washington and guard his desk drawers.

6. I played golf with Tiger Woods and he thinks I'm great!

7. I think I'm great! Don't even think about disagreeing with me.

8. Who's next Joe? Here comes the greyhound bus!

To understand Obama, we have to first understand that he, like the self-indulgent father who abandoned him, believes that America is evil and needs to be destroyed. Once we understand that, it all becomes crystal clear.

Hxprof 2 years ago from Clearwater, Florida

Well, I'm just salivating over his next move. What unconstitutional move will he make next? What destructive executive order will be signed, what law changed, what regulation put into place?

There's nothing good about this man, Obummer. There wasn't much good about the last president, GW. And in fact, our presidents have for decades been circumventing the constitution in various ways, with Congressional approval. Will our next president do any better?

lambservant profile image

lambservant 2 years ago from Pacific Northwest

I have been meaning to ask your take on something for awhile. I won't be defending Obummer, but the whole overriding congress so many times thing, there are statistics that other presidents have done just as many, and more. Although I think it's a case by case issue, as there are times when it can and should be legally done, but I'd like your take on this.

I am with you on the scandals, and somehow, the guilty go free. Aggravating with a capital A. Tell Manny I love donuts.

One of the most important thing Obama did was learn the lesson of Nixon. Pesky tape recording or in his case hard drives with pesky emails hanging around? A spate of hard drive crashes will solve that. Leave no trail.

Dear lambservant,

Yes, other presidents have signed executive orders, but the difference is with just what these orders do. In general executive orders are used to keep the government running smoothly without the necessity for involving Congress on routine matters. Obama has taken the practice to new and outrageous levels. He is passing laws and regulations that are not his to pass. We have a legislative branch and they pass the laws. He is way out of line and is using his powers to further his own interests. This not the way thing are supposed to work in this country. I'll see you at the Inn and we'll talk some more.

Good morning Pop! I was watching the news this morning and listened to a report of The King fulfilling another promise. He is determined to close Gitmo but it's such a problem finding a place to put them. I say that the White House is big enough to house a few or more.

I'm starting to get the feeling from watching Fox new that a sense of hopelessness is coming across. Whereas many of the journalists and reporters were passionate in their arguments, now they seem to be losing steam....and who can blame them ! To add to Bush's punishment; Chaney would have been shot on the NBC nightly news. Then we would all get a tax hike to make us feel better.

If these scandals happened under the Bush administration, Bush and Cheney would have been impeached in record time.

Why?

Because the Democrats controlled congress and the third in line to be President would have been the Speaker of the House, Nancy (I see dead people) Pelosi.

But could that have been a good thing? After Pelosi got done with the country, Obama would never have been elected President (or any other democrat for that matter).

It is always interesting to see people stand aside and tear down their leaders irrespective of the country that leader is head of. At least one person mentioned that GW did a horrible job 'also?' Otherwise I would just feel sorry for you guys...but what do I know? Based on these arguments, intellectual America (majority?) is being led by a foolish/dunce few via a puppet of a president...how come?

tsadjatko profile image

tsadjatko 18 months ago from maybe (the guy or girl) next door

What's not interesting but sad is there are people who criticize people for there expression of freedom of speech about wrong doing but condone it if it is someone they want to criticize. These people live life by a double standard. To them it's not acceptable to tear down their leaders unless someone tears down a former leader they don't like?

"Based on these arguments, intellectual America (majority?) is being led by a foolish/dunce few via a puppet of a president...how come?"

How come? Plain and simple, because unintellectual, uninformed, gov't bloodsuckers voted him in. Not just those who want cradle to grave entitlements but crony capitalists, unions and now it seems even foreign governments with money for favors..

Keisha Hunter profile image

So in essence you are indeed saying the majority of Americans are dunce or dishonest for voting him in or is it that majority of Americans dont parttake in the voting process and just sit aside and criticize? I mentioned GW because back then I paid closer attention from pre 911 and didn't miss much, so i knew he wasnt liked or rated highly and seen as but a boy fighting his father's fight. Obama on the other hand I haven't followed as much but have to wonder if he's hated simply for not being white. But like I said, dahell do I know?! I have long learnt that in the game of politics, wrong and right is coloured based on one's allegiance to party. PS: Obama isn't my President. There is simply startling similarities that I have noticed.

breakfastpop 18 months ago Author

Dear nicomp,

Yes, and the list goes on and on and on....... See you at the Inn.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 18 months ago Author

Dear Keisha,

Yes, in essence, those who voted for Obama didn't do their homework. By the way, this was never and still isn't a race issue. Obama did not love this country. Obama had allegiance to those who trashed this nation. How in the world does that make him fit to lead? He has exacerbated race issues and has divided this nation, not because he is black, but because he refused to lead us in the right direction. In other words, from my perspective, he blew it. From his perspective, he achieved what he wanted, a divided and angry nation.

Keisha Hunter profile image

Keisha Hunter 18 months ago from Paradise and then some

Forgive me, a comment about 'who he is or where he came from' did sound like it. What i still missed though is how he caused such anger and racial divide. What I see from where i sit is a nation using technology to expose the racial underbelly and only then can it be truly addressed as opposed to plaster polished. Now then, how did he cause the divide? And what would he have to gain and be proud of by causing anarchy?

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 18 months ago Author

Dear Keisha,

Obama weighed in on incidents in this country before he knew the facts. The case of the professor who was questioned for breaking into a house is a perfect example. It turned out it was his house, but regardless the incident was a local one and Obama's take on it was wrong. He did the same with the police who were involved in shooting black criminals. He should have paid attention to national issues and left these type of thing up to the community. He fired up Baltimore and definitely contributed to the rioting. He takes advice from a lowlife like Al Sharpton. That alone makes him unfit to lead. As to why he would do all of this, well in the end he is just like Sharpton. Obama has a huge chip on his shoulder and his heart is in perceived racial divides. Sharpton earns his living stirring things up and Obama just can't resist. Ultimately though, chaos and trouble lead to bigger and more intrusive government which is just what he wants. Now there is talk about nationalizing the police. This is outrageous!

This is 7 months old? WTH? Must have been published the week I was unconscious!! Didn't know I could miss any of your work, pop.

I always have a "To do" list floating around here somewhere. All those many productive, necessary things I know I should do, want to do, HOPE to do. There's always an ulterior motive behind creating that list.

Helps me appear to be "organized & ready to roll." It makes me accountable (unless I rip it up) and in general, makes me FEEL better.

I had no idea Barack would have ever adopted my pattern.........UP+++

Keisha Hunter profile image

Keisha Hunter 18 months ago from Paradise and then some

See, whether we like it or not, i doubt Obama, being the first black president could have ignored issues which have troubled the black community for centuries. There has to be firsts and unfortunately some will be ill-advised or plain wrong. Murdering a 'criminal' because he ran can never be right though. Let's not forget the other 'criminals' killed in cold blood to includethe one who was arrested 'illegally'? And self-inflicted deadly wounds? Or the one who shot himself to death while handcuffed in a police car? I could go on. Where and when exactly do 'local' hate and race crimes become national issues?

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 18 months ago Author

Dear fp,

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 18 months ago Author

Dear Keisha,

His job is not to fuel the flames of hatred or violence. He did both and that is simply awful. If he had to say something he should have pleaded for calm and condemned the rioting. This however is just the tip of the iceberg for Obama. He has basically decided things for this nation by executive action, circumventing Congress and the American people. We are suffering because of that.

Keisha Hunter profile image

Keisha Hunter 18 months ago from Paradise and then some

I hear you. I'll end how I began: depending on one's political allegiance, they see leaders as heroes or heart attacks. It strange to hear how great a President he is when listening to who voted him in, then the stark contrast when listening to the Republicans. I do agree that he should have pleaded for calm, if he didn't. But then again, if he shouldn't have commented against the perceived wrong in the cops actions, should he have responded to the reprisal? Interesting indeed.

breakfastpop profile image
