The Suicidal Bussinessman

Created September 30, 2009

I was a deputy in the mobile enforcement division of the volunteers when I rode along with another police officer in a police cruiser. We had a situation on our hands that could involve a possible suicide .

When we arrived at a hotel a manager told us that a man had a revolver . The manager asked us to check out the situation right away.

My partner, and I proceeded to the hotel room immediately where the armed man had checked in. When we arrived there, the door was open, and we saw the man. He was wearing a suit , and sitting down on a bed. Beside him was a 38 revolver .

My partner , and I were good listeners so we asked the man if we could help him . The man did not have anything to say at that moment.

As trained officers we watched every move he made, and listened carefully to every word he finally said , and we studied his movements, and kept our eyes on his revolver , and on his hand that was close to it.

The man finally told us that he wanted to die. My partner had things to say to him ,and we hoped the man would listen. My partner told him that there was no reason to kill himself because life is good. My partner spoke to him about the wonderful things in life that often pass us by without notice, and then I had a few things to say.

I studied everything about the man's movements, and words before speaking, and told him that if he killed himself he would hurt his parents badly . I said, "You are their son , and they are not going to want to lose you. I know because I am a father."

As police officers my partner ,and I were like brothers. We both had families, wives, and children, and life was important matter to us. We were not looking, for thrills . Our duties were clear , and we cared about people.

I remember saying that , " life really is a blessing no matter what condition it may be in. We have a little girl that may never never walk. There are times when that almost kills me, but I must be strong , because I love my family , and have , and obligation to make sure that our little girl will have a daddy to provide for her, and to love her. I know you have a family too . Cherish every moment in life that you can hold dear to you're heart. If you have a brother , or sister then remember that they care about you , and that you are not in this world alone. "

I said, " Bills, debts, money, a lost job, a lost savings, none of it means as much as you're life. "

" Today can be the beginning of the rest of you're life so think about the positive things that life has to offer. Take a trip, take a short vacation, share some pleasant moments with people you love, and take you're mind off of you're self , and you will find that life will can be better. In life we often forget the magnificent world we live in. Spend time enjoying nature , and share it with people you love.

In the end he handed us his revolver. and we did our job , and took him into custody .

stars,

You must be a special man, with a special family. I have a few family members in different law enforcement agencies, all believe in talk.

Dear Harvey: There was some things I loved in police work. The best part of it was giving tickets to speeders. I hoped we slowed a few down so they would not kill others, or themselves. I liked helping people. I think a lot of people like to do that. Most importantly, I loved my wife and child. Police work was a hobby compared to our thoughts concerning our crippled baby that has never walked. God Bless you.
