Musicology-The Symphony of Anarchy(part 1)

Anarchist

Oakland Anarchy

The Symphony of Anarchy

Welcome to my humble Hubode, where today in search of the light of truth,we will peer into the darkness. The United States of America is close to anarchy and there are many paths I have traveled to reach this conclusion. On this hub I would like to share with you one path in particular, the magical mystery tour of musicology and history, used together to predict this potentiality.History has a soundtrack, even it's darkest moments and there is a story to be told about the symphony of anarchy. The anger of our culture war has begun to manifest itself in violent ways and signals the potential for these fires to ignite this melting pot into a rapid boil.It is no longer a secret that during the various civil uprisings in the 1960's,the federal government spied and kept track of the civil rights leaders. What was also declassified was the intensity of the operations of big brother that focused on musicians that were outspoken politically, like John Lennon for instance. We haven't seen this type of social upheaval since the summer of 68' and this time things will be much worse,as is evident that the country has become increasingly violent.

I'll have more on that later but first a brief update on the social condition of the state of California,as I consider this to be ground zero and the spark that will ignite pockets of unrest around the country. One such fire erupted,at the turn of the new year,in the city of Oakland after a policeman shot and killed a 22 year old man named Oscar Grant. The story did make the national media very briefly,if you'd like to see what didn't because of the possibility of spreading the violence please see the video entitled Oakland Anarchy(Be advised this hub will contain profanity,if you are easily offended then go no further)-->

California is on the brink of collapse financially and the city of Oakland, still reeling from the brief exposure of the worsening relationship between it's citizens and the peacekeepers,er,police, is close to filing for bankruptcy.A filing that is to include the laying off of 200 of that city's police officers. If anything similar to the riot at the start of this year were to happen again that would mean assistance from the National Guard and the Homeland Security apparatus engaging the American people,to quell dissent. Also in California the state legislature is now proposing cutting all welfare, there simply is no more money left to give and any more increases in taxes to support the failed welfare programs will ignite unrest from the middle class. To make matters even more complicated and rather convincing to a brute like me, the California legislature is also having to consider releasing 52,000 inmates, from the prison population as there is no more money to keep them imprisoned.

The unemployment rate in California is 10.9%,now throw in several thousand criminals into the already volatile mixture and you can see why I've reached this conclusion that California will more than likely be where anarchy begins. This evidence is convincing on it's own and already being dissected and considered by the oligarchs, what I want to examine is the potential reaction by the people, specifically the youth.I'll get to the conductors of the symphony of anarchy soon enough, for now I will focus on the pied pipers(musicians) and the tunes that the youth are already marching to.

The power of music is not something to be taken lightly,as evidenced by the tyrant Napoleon when he said this "Give me control of they who make a nations music and I care not who makes it's laws"The historically infamous Napoleon intent on conquering the world knew that if he could control a nations music he could control that nation.Napoleon understood that music was even more powerful than the entirety of the infantry, naval vessels and weaponry under his command.John Lennon held this power to derail the machinations of our rulers a generation ago,now let's look at who holds that power today,to ignite the coming rage against the machine. They who were in control in the 60's,paid very close attention to those that may dislodge their grip on power, like Lennon...imagine that.

After this revelation,I began to scan the music of the 60's.You can learn many things about an era through the historical accounts of the historians, political machinations from the library of congress etc...To me any countries music from any particular period has much to add to the stories.Any musician who's ever performed or any spectator at a concert can attest to the hypnotic effect the musicians(pied pipers) can have on a crowd. And if you have power over a crowd large enough, you have power enough to defy even Napoleon.Perhaps in another hub I can elucidate the relationship between Napoleon and Beethoven further. For now I will say that upon hearing of Napoleon declaring himself king of kings and ruler of all,a symphony composed by Beethoven in his honor,Bonaparte Symphony, was ripped to shreds then retitled the Eroica Symphony as Beethoven didn't take too kindly to Napoleons recent declaration of himself as emperor.I wonder if Napoleon sent his henchmen to keep an eye on Beethoven, the brute imagines that he did.

The symphony that has resulted from my research is what follows and I will leave the trajectory of our culture to you.I have already decided that this melting pot is going to boil over and so has the government. When the government releases studies on this potential for anarchy they are called preparations, prepared just in case. The preparations wouldn't need to be thought up by the thinkers ,if someone didn't think the potential for such occurrences didn't exist. The hills are alive with the sounds of music and not the uplifting songs of the musical but the symphony of anarchy, orchestrated by the controllers of chaos. With the invention of music videos, the artistic expression and meaning of an artists music, presents an even clearer view. With that said let's begin to listen to some music.

(An afterthought:The Sound of Music the musical was selected,by the B.B.C. to play in the event of a nuclear strike on the U.K. as a way to reassure the populace during the aftermath of the attack)

Le Ca Ira

The French Revolution

While studying the musicology of the French Revolution,I came across the song on the right" Le Ca Ira".The video is from a musical and the singer is named Edith Piaf.In this scene the mobs of angry French citizens can be seen storming the gates of the mansion of a member of the bourgeois.Recently in America, bus tours have been offered to visit the homes of members of the banking class, receivers of the bailouts etc...Bernie Madoff the man guilty of swindling 50 billion dollars of investors money had two statues stolen from the front of his home in Florida. Most members of the Oligarchy have had pictures of their mansions posted online as the anger spread over the government bailouts.A blogger and talk radio host named Hal Turner was recently arrested in Hartford Connecticut after asking for members of his audience to kill two elected officials.Mr Turner also threatened to disclose their home addresses.I'm skipping over the politics of all of these situations because it simply isn't relevant to the data points, that support this thesis.

Anyway, here are the original lyrics to the first verse of the song(The video from the musical is worth watching as it recreates a scene from the early stages of the revolution):

Ah,it'll be fine,it'll be fine,it'll be fine/ The people on this day repeat over and over/ In spite of the mutineers everything shall succeed/ Our enemies confounded stay petrified/ And we shall sing Alleluia/ Ah it'll be fine,it'll be fine,it'll be fine/ When Boileau in the past spoke about the clergy/ like a prophet he predicted this/By singing my little song/ With pleasure people shall say/ Ah it'll be fine,it'll be fine,it'll be fine.

Here's what the lyrics were later changed to as the anger swelled and the rest as they say is historical anarchy.

Ah it'll be fine,it'll be fine,it'll be fine/ Aristocrats to the lamppost/ Ah it'll be fine it'll be fine,it'll be fine/The aristocrats we'll hang them/ If we don't hang them we'll break them/If we don't break them we'll burn them/ We have no more nobles nor priests/ Equality will reign everywhere.

There are more lyrics but you should be able to see the pattern with just this first verse.I included this song because the evolution of music from imagining world peace to what it has become today, will be obvious to you as you scroll down this hub.My hope is that my implied intuitive perceptions become just as obvious.

Beatles Revolution

Beatles Revolution

The song revolution by the beatles was written by the enemy combatant John Lennon in 1968.As a stand alone it reached #12 on the top 100 charts.Even though the song's title is "Revolution" in it's context in this period in history, the summer of 68',the song meant peaceful resistance and change. What I will show later is like the song La Cira, except over the span of decades, when revolution, the term is mentioned,it's exactly what is meant.

You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right

You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're doing what we can
But if you want money
for people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
Ah

ah, ah, ah, ah, ah...

You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
all right, all right, all right
all right, all right, all right

M.T.V Martial Law

Greek Anarchy

M.T.V

I remember a time when Music Televison(M.T.V.) used to play...music.I haven't watched the channel in a very long time but these two commercials on the right caught my attention when I found them on Youtube. If there is any wonder why the government spent hundreds of million of your dollars giving away vouchers  help citizens pay for digital cable boxes, for the transition from analog, these commercials are it.

The most effective method to herd sheep,as you watch a sheep dog at work,is to scare the sheep in the direction you want them to go.The dog never hurts them but the threat of pain and the ensuing fear drives/influences the movements/votes of the entire flock, even if you are driving them to the slaughterhouse..I wanted to show these commercials because, using the demographics that M.T.V reaches, ages 12 - 25,will be important to this hub as the anarchy seems to begin with this age group around the world.

The riots in Greece in 2008 began as protest and the descent into anarchy ensued after the death of a 15 year old protester after being shot by a policeman(Does that sound similar to Oakland?) .I followed these riots as much as I could and using the google translator application, tried to get a sense of what triggered the protest in the first place. In my humble assessment, the protest began with the rising frustration of the younger generation, high unemployment and a general perception of corruption in the Greek political institutions. This makes me think of the political climate in America today.

Bulls on Parade (Acapella)

Bulls on Parade (Music video)

Rock & Rage

I love this Band and I wish to share with you the power they hold over this crowd in Minnesota. Music is the easiest route to bridge the gaps between the intellectual and chattering classes along the Bell Curve. Here is Rage against the Machine performing "Bulls on Parade"Acapella. The acapella version is included only to show the power of the musicians. The second clip is the music video and is worth watching because this band is viral on the oracle and on television. They've even done Letterman. You will hear the lead singer in the first clip mention that the band does not advocate violence however"rally around the family with a pocket full of shells" is a long way from John Lennon's "Imagine".

Come wit it now!
Come wit it now!
The microphone explodes, shattering the molds
Either drop tha hits like de la O or get tha fuck off tha commode
Wit tha sure shot, sure ta make tha bodies drop
Drop an don't copy yo, don't call this a co-op
Terror rains drenchin', quenchin' tha thirst of tha power dons
That five sided fist-a-gon
Tha rotten sore on tha face of mother earth gets bigger
Tha triggers cold empty ya purse

Rally round tha family! With a pocket full of shells
They rally round tha family! With a pocket full of shells
They rally round tha family! With a pocket full of shells
They rally round tha family! With a pocket full of shells

Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes
Not need, just feed the war cannibal animal
I walk tha corner to tha rubble that used to be a library
Line up to tha mind cemetary now
What we don't know keeps tha contracts alive an movin'
They don't gotta burn tha books they just remove 'em
While arms warehouses fill as quick as tha cells
Rally round tha family, pockets full of shells

Rally round tha family! With a pocket full of shells
They rally round tha family! With a pocket full of shells
They rally round tha family! With a pocket full of shells
They rally round tha family! With a pocket full of shells

Bulls on parade

Come wit it now!
Come wit it now!
Bulls on parade!
Bulls on parade!
Bulls on parade!
Bulls on parade!
Bulls on parade!

The Struggle

Let's Rap

In this next clip through rap music the disenfranchised youth of Hispanic and black decent are calling for unity,in the fight against the snake. The clip begins with the revolutionary musician,Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata then features two rap songs.Only the first is relevant to my thesis. The clip is worth watching because there is an artist's rendition of the pathos being projected in the music. The following quote from Ghandi,is used in the beginning of the clip and it explains what the "snake" is."If I seem to take part in politics,it is only because politics encircles us today like the coil of a snake, from which we cannot get out,no matter how much one tries,I wish therefore to wrestle with the snake"

Look at the artist's depiction of wrestling with the snake, thinking about raging against the machine, with a pocket full of shells and I hope the pattern begins to emerge. This is neither the intent of Ghandi nor Lennon when they spoke out against the machine.I feel/hear the rhetoric of the youth and so does big brother. They are prepared for this potentiality and I am not mentioning anything here that cannot be found through the U.S. Army's think tanks.I'll have more on the music of The Flobots,Immortal Technique,Mos Def,Eminem and the minds of Gore Vidal,Jose Saramago and others who are the conductors of the "Symphony of Anarchy" in part 2.

I did not include the lyrics to this song "The Struggle" but the song is between 2 rap artist one black, the other hispanic and the call is to join forces to rage against the machine together. The art speaks for itself as does any form of art, even if you don't consider it art or rap music.

Shadow of the Day

Move or feel the chemical burn

Linkin Park

The only thing the sun will set on is liberty and freedom once the anarchy begins. This music video speaks for itself and the silence of the lambs, from my generation, bothers me more than the message of this video.Judging from the age of the members of the band Linkin Park,I assume that they lived through the "1999 Battle in Seattle" where anarchy prevailed for a brief period and Seattle became a war zone. The mainstream press did an excellent job of sweeping this story under the rug and what the people were protesting against is very relevant to the condition we find ourselves in today(I'll explain in part 2).Regardless of that, the loss of the freedom to protest should've been the catalyst for protests nationwide.I'll include a clip from the protest and the ensuing anarchy that erupted. Please keep in mind the evolution of video games, the musicology and movies that influence the youth a decade later and my intuitive deduction is that the anarchy will be greater this time.My friends the paradoxical dilema we will face here is that the Battle in Seattle took place before the Homeland Security apparatus was set in motion and under a Democratic presidency. My only assumption here is that the velvet gloves covering the Iron Fist of the current administration will be revealed soon enough. They are already considering bulldozing entire neighborhoods, due to the economic collapse and the reason given is to better be able to "manage" regions that are the most affected(Flint Michigan, for instance)This is no laughing matter as the robber barons strong arm the taxpayers for trillions and begin to bulldoze people's homes.Any takers on a little wager that groups like the Nature Conservancy get first dibs on purchasing the land for pennies on the dollar?

I close both locks below the window,
I close both blinds and turn away,
Sometimes solutions aren't so simple,
Sometimes goodbye's the only way.

And the sun will set for you,
The sun will set for you,
And the shadow of the day,
Will embrace the world in gray,
And the sun will set for you.

In cards and flowers on your window,
Your friends all plead for you to stay,
Sometimes beginnings aren't so simple,
Sometimes goodbye's the only way.

And the sun will set for you,
The sun will set for you,
And the shadow of the day,
Will embrace the world in gray,
And the sun will set for you.

And the shadow of the day,
Will embrace the world in gray,
And the sun will set for you.

Technique Point of No Return

Obama Chavez

The Point of No Return

According to an article from A.B.C. News a special judicial panel has tentatively ruled that the state of California must release approximately 52,000 inmates to reduce overcrowding in that states prison system. The move is gaining traction as a way for the already bankrupt state to trim it's deficit.

The story that should have made the national news cycle of several members of the military being shot in a drive by shooting outside of a recruiting depot, carried a warning,in my humble opinion. The suspect arrested in the shooting was an ex convict who converted to Islam while in prison. He stated that his motive for the shooting was the continuing treatment of Muslims by the U.S.Military in the middle east.In the past month we've seen the culture wars in our country claim the lives of an elderly man in a Synagogue,A physician in a Church and a third bombing at a Starbucks in N.Y.C.I know that these stories are overshadowed by the real news like, the Obama's date night, the N.B.A. Finals,or that Adam Lambert of American Idol is gay.I find these types of stories to be feeble attempts at distraction and a sweet lullaby to keep the people in the comfortable numbness of idolatry.I wish the people would snap out of it

What happens when California releases 52,000 gang members, drug dealers/users and various other misfits into this already volatile mixture? This song may offer some clues. The propaganda in this video is gaining momentum in the U.S. and I know this from the amount of time the book "Confessions of An Economic Hitman" spent on the New York Times bestsellers list.I have it on my desk in front of me.I've read it and I'm halfway done dissecting it.The book is a shocking expose of Capitalism's effects on countries, specifically Latin America. You will see the effects of the work of Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code in these lyrics as well when the artist says,"Mary Magdeline" giving birth to the children of Jesus. In the second part of this hub I will have to climb higher on the Bell Curve to show you the intellectuals who are stirring our melting pot to a rapid boil. The recent news of the president of Venezuela Hugo Chavez handing President Obama a book was one such move on the global chessboard and a brilliant one at that.It caught the young president off guard and the book later went from mere obscurity to being the top seller on Amazon.com within days. The theme of that book is relevant to the anti-Americanism of economic hitman. The book will feed the virus of Anti-Americanism or as Immortal Technique says in this song..."...the virus stuck in the matrix..."I have no argument to make for capitalism, the insatiable appetites and raw greed of the oligarchs speaks for itself. If anyone thinks that giving them a new label, socialism, for instance will change this please explain to me how.

Talking]
Yeah... It's that real this time around
Immortal Technique... Revolutionary Vol. 2
It's on now mother fucker..
Lock and load!

[Verse 1]
This is the point of no return I could never go back
Life without parole up state shackled and trapped
Living in the hole, lookin' at the world through a crack
But fuck that, I'd rather shoot it out and get clapped
I've gone too far, there ain't no coming back for me
Auschwitz gas chamber full of Zyklon-B
Just like the spanish exterminating Tynos
Raping the black and Indian women, creating Latinos
Mother fuckers made me out of self righteous hatred
And you got yourself a virus, stuck in the Matrix
A suicide bomber strapped and ready to blow
Lethal injection strapped down ready to go
Don't you understand they'll never let me live out in peace
Concrete jungle, guerrilla war out in the streets
Nat Turner with the sickle pitch fork and ma chatte
The end of the world, mother fucker you not ready
This is the point of no return and nobody can stop it
Malcolm little running up before Elijah Muhammad
The comet that killed the dinosaurs, changing the earth
They love to criticize they always say I change for the worse
Like prescription pills when you miss using them nigga
The temple of nights when they took Jerusalem nigga
And figured out what was buried under Soloman's temple
Al Aksa the name is no coincidental
I know too much to government is trying to murder me
No coming back like cutting your writs open vertically
How could the serpent be purposely put in charge of the country
Genetic engineered sickness spread amongst me
My people are so hungry that they attack without reason
Like a fuckin' dog ripping off the hand that feeds him
Immortal Technique is treason to the patriot act
So come and get me mother fucker cause I'm not coming back

[Hook]
This is the point from which I could never return
And if I back down now then forever I burn
This is the point from which I could never retreat
Cause If I turn back now there can never be peace
This is the point from which I will die and succeed
Living the struggle, I know I'm alive when I bleed
From now on it can never be the same as before
Cause the place I'm from doesn't exist anymore

[Verse 2]
This is the point of no return nigga you better believe this
Mary Magdalen giving birth to the children of Jesus
The evolution of the world, bloody and dramatic
Human beings killing monkeys to conquer the planet
The kingdoms of Africa and Mesopotamia
Machine gunnin' your body with depleted uranium
This is the age of micro chips and titanium
The dark side of the moon and contact with aliens
I started out like Australians, criminal minded
Broke into hell, tore it down, and built and city behind it
South Paul, murderous, methodology nigga
Remember that I'm just a man don't follow me nigga
Cause once you past the point you can never go home
You've got to face the possibility of dying alone
So tell me mother fucker, how could you die for the throne?
When you don't even got the fuckin' heart to die for your own
It rains acid, one day the earth will cry from a stone
And you'll be lookin' at the world livin' inside of a dome
Computerized humanity living inside of a clone
This is the place where the unknown is living and real
Worm went to planet X and the seventh seal
Universal truth is not measure in mass appeal
This is the last time that I kneel and pray to the sky
Cause almost everything that I was always ever told was a lie

Flobots No Handlebars

"Me and my friends understand the future
I see the strings that control the systems
I can do anything with no assistance
I can lead a nation with a microphone

This song,it's lyrics and the music video says it all.If you only had the time to watch a single video on this hub, this is the one.The Flobots have encapsulated my thesis in this one song and video.Unfortunately Embedding is disabled on this clip but you can watch the music video by clicking here:

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars

Look at me, look at me
hands in the air like it's good to be
ALIVE
and I'm a famous rapper
even when the paths're all crookedy
I can show you how to do-si-do
I can show you how to scratch a record
I can take apart the remote control
And I can almost put it back together
I can tie a knot in a cherry stem
I can tell you about Leif Ericson
I know all the words to "De Colores"
And "I'm Proud to be an American"
Me and my friend saw a platypus
Me and my friend made a comic book
And guess how long it took
I can do anything that I want cuz, look:

I can keep rhythm with no metronome
No metronome
No metronome

I can see your face on the telephone
On the telephone
On the telephone

Look at me
Look at me
Just called to say that it's good to be
ALIVE
In such a small world
All curled up with a book to read
I can make money open up a thrift store
I can make a living off a magazine
I can design an engine sixty four
Miles to a gallon of gasoline
I can make new antibiotics
I can make computers survive aquatic conditions
I know how to run a business
And I can make you wanna buy a product
Movers shakers and producers
Me and my friends understand the future
I see the strings that control the systems
I can do anything with no assistance
I can lead a nation with a microphone
With a microphone
With a microphone
I can split the atoms of a molecule
Of a molecule
Of a molecule

Look at me
Look at me
Driving and I won't stop
And it feels so good to be
Alive and on top
My reach is global
My tower secure
My cause is noble
My power is pure
I can hand out a million vaccinations
Or let'em all die in exasperation
Have'em all grilled leavin lacerations
Have'em all killed by assassination
I can make anybody go to prison
Just because I don't like'em and
I can do anything with no permission
I have it all under my command
I can guide a missile by satellite
By satellite
By satellite
and I can hit a target through a telescope
Through a telescope
Through a telescope
and I can end the planet in a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handle bars
No handlebars

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars

Saty tuned for part 2 where I will shine the light on the conductors of this symphony. The members of the intellectual class who see a global revolution as a solution to this crisis.I'd be lying if I said that I didn't think that the tree of liberty wasn't desperately in need of refreshment but anarchy will only induce the labor and birth of the coming brave new world.

Hell of a hub man. I feel jolted as I remember my struggles and my hate for this insanity as I all I want to do is feed my kids and wake up with a roof over my head. I can even deal with the holes in my socks but it does get to a point where I can feel words are worthless and all I want to do is grab for a pocket full of shells.

goldentoad,

I hear you brother,I'm ready to move to a farm and get off of the grid.I feel the same way everytime I read through the days events,it's not getting any better and in a way my kids are the only thing keeping me sane enough to fight the power in other ways. Thanks for the visit and your pertinent comment,I know many people who feel the same way.

ah my brothers and sisters,

mindless, thanks for taking the time to assemble such an insightful hub. It seems we'll have to lose every battle in hopes of winning the war.

truly, change is the only constant....as odd as it sounds.

the frontiers have vanished on our planet. I think that if u attempt to escape the madness, you are only delaying the inevitable.

truly, the bilderberger group, the council on foreign relations, the trilateral commission, the federal reserve and all these other secretive organizations with hidden agendas for mankind need to be exposed...

as you clearly display, the arts are a reflection of our culture...it's sad to c all the violence therein...the young in their frustration can easily be manipulated into utilizing violence in a desperate attempt to effect change..

I don't want to sound disheartening. At least we are trying, against seemingly insurmountable odds. I think that we must continue to educate the young who are always the warriors...in hope that they don't stumble within the pitfalls and discover themselves caught within traps...

che gueverra, how he must have longed to return to a classroom setting....the teacher.

u must admit that the controlling factions have their shit together..

we know that there are many like minded people like ourselves...somehow we must present a united front, for u know that divide and conquer is a reliable tool.

things sure do seem to be accelerating and brought to a boil, clearly by design....we need to reassure each other and continue to work within the constraints of our strict moral code...the sacredness of life...

i do go on and on don't I? I guess I just want to say that we must work with what we have. If we are concerned and gifted with eloquence and rhetoric, we must utilize this arsenal...truly it is a contest of minds and wills and emotions..we are philosophers, caught within the struggle to place bread upon our tables.

keep the faith, we are spirits although they would have us believe we are merely corporeal beings..i feel a spirit can be broken but not destroyed..therefore it can be healed..it can transform.

anyways, thanks mindless, for the reassurance...often times I feel alone when I look around me...it's healthy to c that I am not.

fight the good fight my man...write on.

They say that as California goes, so goes the nation. To put an end to most of the welfare and the three strike system would make alot of sense. There is no reason the working class should pay for the lazy.

There is so much legislation in this country surrounding the food industry, that it is hard for a community to pull together and supply for it's needs, without jumping through miles of red tape.

john guilfoyle,

I agree with you on that many who sit at the intellectual peak of the Bell Curve, have their sh** together. We live in the world designed by these minds and it was the diabolical genius H.G. Wells who predicted that as the strict moral code you speak of(Protestantism) faded in western civilization, these events would unfold,as the youth rebel against the moral code.

I'll be getting into the spiritual side of the culture war as shown through the musicology of today.I've gone over this philosophy with some young men that I mentor and once they learn this they can never unlearn it.They email me whenever they hear a song that they think I should listen to.My list keeps growing every month. It gets even better,or worse, when you begin to see these themes in movies.Thank you for reading and your comments,I enjoyed them.

Ivorwen,

You are so right and the saying about California is what worries me.I agree with your sentiments on welfare and the 3 strike laws as both of these programs are unsustainable. The welfare system has become a generational addiction to many families and if the aftermath of hurricane Katrina elucidated one thing,it showed clearly that when the music stops, those people dependent on the Nanny state were unable to fend for themselves and chaos ensued. The governments repose was to declare martial law and seize all weapons that were legally registered. The N.R.A. put out a video of these gun confiscations,by the police dept.,blackwater security and the national guard.

If rational, thinking adults allow the youth to imitate the art in our culture today, then it is us who will pay the price of diminished liberty and freedom.Your comment on food is most elucidating and another example of a layer of red tape blocking a path to freedom. The Obama administration is considering bulldozing entire towns in 50 cities hardest hit by the economy. The reason given,is that it will be lighten the burden finacially on the government by concentrating dwindling populations into a more viable area to better provide social services. If this program begins, now would be the ideal time for this land to be used to plant crops.I have a strong inclination that this land a true assest, unlike our monopoly money, will never be used to provide sustenance and self sufficiency to the people.

We are being herded like sheep and the silence of the lambs is disheartening.Thank you for taking the time to read and comment,I know you are a busy little bee;-)

"The Obama administration is considering bulldozing entire towns in 50 cities hardest hit by the economy." I just read about that last night. My guess is it is just one more step toward the land tracks that were proposed under the Clinton administration... Herding is certainly the right word.

I just looked at that link (and came back in time to comment). The demolition of homes is something that China has been doing for a few years now. Last fall there was a report about it in National Geographic. It seemed places where being bulldozed, despite the people.

A similar thing has been going on in India, except in India the goal is to demolish the slums, where disease reigns, and move people into sky-rise buildings, so that there is room for parks and streets.

Ivorwen,

I am most impressed with how up to date you are on current events!I've been following this trend in China and last week a Chinese official was hacked to death by an angry mob of villagers. The government decided that a Tea Pavillion that the villagers erected was to be demolished because of the lack of official state planning. The villagers bypassed the red tape and got together to build what they needed in their community. The sentiment towards the state seems to be shifting violently,at least in that village.

I'm afraid we haven't seen the eminent domain laws in our country put to use outside of the southwest,on a scale we are about to witness soon.I'm waiting for the current administration to remove the limits the former administration placed on eminent domain.Excellent comment and I appreciate your insights!

John,

The news cycle is manipulated like a magicians sleight of hand.On wednesday while the former head of Bank Of America is testifying before congress that the government threatned his job if he did not take 20 billion in taxpayer dollars to buy Merrill Lynch.they applied the same tactic after the sale if he or anyone at the bank disclosed the true financial condition of Merrill Lynch to the public.

The top story in the news cycle was W.H.O raising the pandemic level of Swine Flu to 6.

Ivorwen,

Thank you for the song and lyrics,I had to skip the 70's and 80's for the hub but I keep files on the 70's and 80's I will add this song to them.Send me anymore you can think of my appetite for information is insatiable.

You are doing some deep thinking here, Brute.  I wonder if these young anarchists are simply suffering spiritual emptiness due to the powerful forces pushing relativistic, deconstructionist Secular Humanism on them in our educational system.  They surely are not angry over want—they are the most abundantly provisioned generation in the history of the earth.  Maybe life is just too easy.  There ain't a lot of philosophizing on an empty stomach.

Great Hub, well presented, disturbing.

James,

I do believe that our educational system does play a huge role in social conditioning.A lot of this is simply boredom and the illusion of wanting...something different, without truly understanding what it is that they are asking for.I'll have more on this in part 2 and it is very ironiv that the very "causes" the intellectuals are calling for(and musicians through music)will only lead to the further erosion of liberty.

I took musicology courses way back in college but unfortunately the curriculum does not allow me to venture beyond what required parental guidance. But studying the visual arts (my major) made me realize that indeed art is reflection of or a reaction to what's going around, hence the creation and end of the various art movements through history. I still wish I was born earlier and was able to live in the 60s and 70s but i guess revolutionary music still exists if you exert effort to read between the lyrics or look for them beneath the Lady Gagas that abound. Thanks for another satisfying read. And btw, you rock!

Thanks Cris!I missed the 60and 70's too and I know I would've been at Woodstock, then shipped off to Vietnam, just to live the experience or die by the sword. That's O.K. though I had Metallica and Public Enemy, then shipped off to Desert Storm and lived to tell the tales :-)

"Give me control of they who make a nations music and I care not who makes it's laws"

this quote is terribly incorrect. the quote goes as : Give me control of a nations currency and i care not who makes its laws", and it was not Napoleon who said it, but a Rothschild banker.
