The Devolution of the Last Great Democracy

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh said, “a democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy!”

The average age of the world's greatest democracies from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the same set of sequences.

All Democracies were formed as the result of the people’s desire to escape from bondage; this is driven in the beginning by a deep spiritual faith. Thus the desire for religious freedom is the impetus that drives the people to rebel against the tyrannical ruler holding them in bondage.

The deep spiritual faith instills the courage necessary to empower the people to fight for individual freedom and liberty; thus a covenant is formed between the people and their God. Once individual freedom and liberty are achieved the system produces such abundance never before realized under the previous system of bondage. Why, because a free people will produce at levels never before experienced once they realize they will be the beneficiaries of their labor. People will never produce for the collective like they will for themselves. Such is the fallacy of Socialism!

The problem is abundance always leads to complacency; such is the state of affairs in America today. We have had too much for too long that the majority of our population now forgets where this abundance comes from. Far too many of our fellow citizens have come to believe abundance comes from the government when nothing comes from government but Bondage! Ask the average person what is the problem with Greece today and they will say eat too much of it and it will make you fat. They have no idea what is happening in the world around them or more importantly why. They will never see the parallel with Greece and the Obama Socialist Agenda! But ask most of them who was Michael Jackson’s Dr. and why he is on trial and they will baffle you with their knowledge.

America is now in that critical step back into bondage; from complacence to apathy! The 2012 elections are the most critical in the history of our country. The Obama Regime has done more to grow government and demolish the capitalistic system in just under 3 years than any other previous administration in the history of this country; including Jimmy Carter’s Administration which gave us malaise and stagflation! Four more years of this Regime and America will be back in Bondage.

The bondage America will experience this time around will not be the same as that from which it escaped those 235 years ago but a self imposed bondage. An insidious self imposed bondage resulting from the apathy of the citizenry! A citizenry so dumbed down through their years of obsession with Queen Oprah, Sex in the City, the View, ABC, CBS and NBC so called news, the Real House Wives of Bora Bora and on and on and on. This steady diet of Liberal Pabulum has been spoon fed to an unsuspecting public disguised as Enlightenment and News!

So wake up America before it’s too late. Remain apathetic and ill informed and you’ll usher in 4 more years of the Obama Regime. Do so and witness the final collapse of that shining city on a hill coupled with the eradication of the middle class. Welcome to the American Feudal System presided over by his Majesty Barrack Hussein Obama!

There is always a dead giveaway about socialistic tendencies in any society and for the past 50 years we have allowed the federal government to extend its tentacles into all facets of society in the effort to be the end all to our problems. The progressive movement doesn't admire individualism, self-determination and self-motivation to solve your own problems.

I have always dealt with the problems I have faced without looking for the government, any government, to come to the rescue. I've watched, sometimes in amazement, as a large segment of this nation's population has indeed become reliant on The Nanny State rather than themselves.

I'm not part of the supposed 1% because I don't particularly want to be. But I can assure you that I don't give this federal bureaucratic monster that is feeding on the people one more cent than I have to give it. I'm perfectly capable of wasting my own money and I don't want to be my brother's keeper or make him mine either. I'm also not part of the 50% of the working people who pay no income tax.

We've done this to ourselves by allowing career politicians to gain the helm and not paying attention to the fact that they care less about "We, the People" and just their miserable existence of remaining in office to continue the plunder.

What we are witnessing in Washington DC right now, especially in the US Senate, is despicable. The likes of Reid and his cronies haven't the balls to bring to the floor at least 15 bills, and counting, that the House has sent for a vote. Why? Because they don't want to be "on record" with their votes during the coming election. It's like Obama voting "Present" so often in the past so that there was no yardstick to gauge him by.

Yes, people need to WTFU and stop all the partisan nonsense and look at what this government has evolved into. We're quickly becoming the next Greece if all the excessive spending and entitlement mentality does get under control and quickly.

"Socialism works well until you run out of other people's money." That famous quote is dead on the money. It's always so easy to spend other people's money and not yours. The pain is coming one way or the other so it may be best to minimize it and not continue to have a federal government that spends money like a drunken sailor on shore leave.

Thanks Froggy

This is indeed the winter-spring-summer and fall of our discontent; we either get off the pot and end this Regime or become the next Greece!

Bravo Patriot. We are at a crossroads right now. The truth about the Obama regime is out there, but there are millions of people who will never get to hear it. One, they rely on the MSM for their sound bites and they are content with the lies they are being fed. I have engaged many people like this in conversation and the truth definitely does not set them free. It's a numbers game now. More of us, we are spared from 4 more years of Obama. More of them, we are doomed. Up useful and awesome, Patriot.

I'm glad to see you also realize Obama is trying to destroy the middle class. There don't seem to be many who understand that. What I'm trying to do is encourage people to vote in the primaries and in their local elections. I think too many of us vote for a president every 4 years and think we've done our civic duty.

The work is never done; we shall fight on the beaches,

we shall fight on the landing grounds,

we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,

we shall fight in the hills;

we shall never surrender!
