Rude, crude and hatefule dudes!

It has long pondered my deepest thoughts as to WHY exactly liberals in this country are incredibly arrogant, rude, obnoxious and hateful. Sure, these are strong words to use but, this is my little rant, and my personal desire to answer my own question, so I find these words to be “spot on” as to my description of so, so many of liberals I have come to know over the course of several years.

For one thing, I actually think they fully believe, without any reservation, that they are much smarter than those who do not share their particular ideology. Now, let me say this, I know for a fact that many of these folks I am referring to are very, very brilliant and intelligent. I know some liberals right here on hubpages who amaze me with their brilliance.

This leads me to ponder even deeper as to why these brilliant liberal folks fail to see their own arrogant and smug behavior. Yet, they strive ever so proudly with a fundamental belief that they are indeed much, much more intelligent than anyone who dares to disagree with their train of thoughts or their points of view. That it is truly those of us, (conservatives) who just flat out lack the necessary critical thinking skills to obtain the brilliant solutions to the many precarious problems we face today.

What is even MORE astounding is that many of them (and God love’em) do not even consider themselves to even be called a “liberal”. They are merely Independent thinkers who have moderate to conservative views. Heck, half of them even voted for Reagan! (so they claim) They know, beyond a shadow of a doubt though, that they have been born with the skills that allows them to digest honest and reasonable conclusions, all based upon solid logic and common sense. We conservatives are victims of a failed education system.

It is also my observation that many even place themselves on much higher level of moral acceptance. That the moral values they possess are they only values that mankind most obtain in order to keep this earth flourishing to the state of utopia.

Okay, maybe I am getting a little too cynical here, but boy are the words just flowing out of me right now. I even find this rather soothing to my soul right now.

I have found that when I disagree with any of these fine liberals that I am describing, that I am just plain old stupid and morally bankrupt.

Also:

If I disagree with this current president, I am without a doubt a Racist!!

If I disagree with their interpretation of marriage, I am a hateful homophobe!!

If I disagree with abortions, I am a woman hater!!

If I disagree with illegal immigration, I hate Mexicans!!

If I disagree with the vast amount of entitlement programs we have, I hate poor people!!

If you don’t follow the line of logic they do, we are haters of mankind. Also, the word evil can apply to those of us who perhaps attend church on Sundays.

Yes, it is those of us who are sadly mistaken, that think the Tea Party folks do NOT really want Washington to stop the insane spending, but really just want this country to fail! At all costs!

Now, all of this has absolutely NOTHING at all to do with the FACTS that many of the liberal policies have failed.

Social Security is a thriving program, RIGHT? Welfare has only created a much stronger class of citizens who do not want to be dependent on our government, RIGHT?

I guess, this long pondering thought has only shinned the light that “I” am the one who is arrogant, rude obnoxious and hateful…boy do I feel embarrassed now!!

I apologize for my latest rant, I’m not sure if any of it made a lick of sense to anyone but me. But there ya have it.

It made sense to me, Chris.

What I've started doing is calling them on all this. If I don't agree and they start screaming, I call them on it, telling them what they really are - immature, arrogant, rude, obnoxious, and unable to bring anything intelligent to the table, just their liberal BS. I've decided I will not sit back and take it anymore.

Great rant. Don't let your blood pressure get too high and keep writing and ranting.

That’s because liberals have been ‘enlightened’, and we mere mortals are still in the dark. Everything we thought was immoral is actually moral and vice versa.

We thought homosexuality was immoral, but the enlightened ones have taught us that opposing it is immoral!

We thought murdering your own child was immoral, but the enlightened ones have taught us that women should be able to choose murdering their baby, because that baby has no rights, and to oppose abortion is to make war on women.

We thought a mom who stayed home and raised her family was a hero, but the enlightened ones taught us that she is a Suzie-Homemaker, and to be scorned.

We thought children should mind and respect adults, but the enlightened ones have taught us that we have no right to discipline our children.

We thought sex outside of marriage was immoral, but the enlightened one have taught us that opposing taxpayer funding for a single woman’s contraception is immoral.

We thought having faith as a nation in God was moral, but the enlightened ones have told us that God should be hidden from public view at all times.

I wonder if that has anything to do with the steep decline in what once the greatest nation on Earth?

You hit the nail on the head. These folks you speak of are perfectly fine with their liberal positions UNLESS it adversely affects them. In other words, they are wonderful at determining what OTHER people should do.

For instance wind energy. Try putting a windmill farm in the view of rich liberal--remember Kennedy? Or try planting a tree that may obscure a liberals views -- they'll be the first ones with a chainsaw cutting it down. And when they speak of higher taxes, I've never seen any rich liberal writing a check to the government for an additional 75 percent of their income because it is for the "good of society".

Liberals are sanctimonious dolts seeking self aggrandizement by claiming supperior intellect based on the number and color of the ribbons they display showing they care.

Chris, another job well done. My neighbor, the man with no pants, and I were just discussing this subject a few days ago. Here is what we came up with.

Many of these liberals are like football fans with a favorite team. They bought the hats, T-shirts, sweat shirts, drink cups, and all the other paraphernalia their team has for sale. They live and breathe everything about their favorite team. They know all the players names, their stats, and learn everything they can about this team.

Now suppose this team has a terrible year, like zero wins and 7 losses. This teams chance of being in the Super Bowl is slim to none. But like all loyal fans, they will defend this team to the bitter end, and any derogatory comments in regards to this team or their coach is fighting words. Now obviously, they can't defend the teams record for this year, so they have to resort to name calling and other negative behavior while wearing the teams hat. Many would never change teams even if this losing streak continued for years on end. That is just the way it is in football and politics.

Hi Mike!! Great to see ya,

Boy, you and Jim nailed it with that great analogy. Being a long time Cubs and Bears fan...I know ALL too well about losing streaks and being loyal. But We also know when it is time to fire the coach too.

The left seems to be just fine keeping a coach in there that continues to call losing plays...

I really like this analogy! The sad thing is, in sports, you can get up an go to work the next day after a tough loss....in Politics, too many loses and there can be NO work for millions the next day!

Thanks for sharing Mike, and a pleasure every time you drop by.

It should be asked, why do we expect people to be civil when we don't teach the proper means of being civil anymore in school? We try to ban "words" that are discriminatory and think that will make people civil towards one another? There are certain rules and guidelines about becoming civil, and they must be taught? Are they still taught? These include actual society rules and how to treat others as well as the rules of good debate which reside in the Logical Fallacies of Philosophy. Furthermore this is the connection, the Fallacies and when applied to human thought and interaction, leads to civility.

Currently we are just slipping more into barbarianism, not to mention Cmerrit is the fact that since "language" is an "evolving" and "changing" matter this makes actually being able to communicate almost impossible anymore since subjectivism currently is so prevalent. You might be using the primary definition of the word and somebody else is using another definition of the word. It is the thought process well that is what it means for you but it doesn't mean the same for me.

How can you communicate when there is no basis upon which to communicate?

Also thanks for the plug, it is appreciated, please if you enjoy that piece and my many other works don't hesitate to share them around on face book and the like.

Hi Chris! Great rant! I have to say that throughout my work experiences and as a black man, conservatives (Republicans) have been most willing to assist, support and help me with whatever. This is not to say that I have never run into any conservatives that were complete idiots, because I have. But all in all, they have been the most compassionate.

Liberals (Democrats), in terms of my experiences with those that claimed to be, have been some of the most racist, wishy-washy, hateful and arrogant people I have encountered. Many of the ones I have dealt with are back stabbers and like you only when you agree with them and do what they say.

In all fairness, I have run into some liberals that were cool, but all in all, the conservatives have been the fairest, kindest and most supportive people I have met.

Keith Engel profile image

@Cmeirit

Well I am about to do my own bit of ranting, in a bit of a professional style. I tried to bring the truth and reality into a situation in answering a question about support for the veteran's and VA. Well, nobody wanted to hear that in order to pay Paul you must rob peter. Nobody wanted to hear that you can't have your cake and it too. It's about the Vets man, don't bring truth and reality into this discussion. So my answer actually got voted down enough that it isn't even visible. Reminds me of Wizard's Thirteenth Rule.

Wizard’s Thirteenth Rule: “You can destroy those who speak the truth, but you cannot destroy the truth itself”

Then of course you have the usual comebacks, Koch Brothers agenda, Tax Corporations More, and appropriate tax measures. This is actually funny as I have never read not even one word of what the hell the Koch brothers have had to say. Hell I don't even know who the Koch Brothers are what they look like or even really what they do, you know why. I don't give a damn! I am not concerned about what the hell everybody is doing, that is one of the problems with Liberals. They get so caught up in what this person has, what that person has, what this person doesn't have what this person does, what that person does, and on and on and on.

Here you can read the little exchange, my post as I said is hidden.

I have recently come to the same conclusion although there are some that do mean well, and not all of their views are wrong in my opinion. I do love industrial progress, but there is nothing wrong with being reasonable about what kind of damage you do to the environment. But liberals feel that if you bend a twig in a meadow, that meadow is ruined for the next thousand years (I'm being as extreme as their policies for protecting nature).

There is a middle road and liberals on the whole have become radical God haters. I know only one liberal outside of HP now, that I like and can hang out with. But his views have become quite extreme in the last few years as well. They are being polarized by propoganda and fueled by misplaced hate. Lately, I have had a falling out with a few of my homosexual friends, they are not only liberal radicals, they greet every attempt at friendliness and understanding as an attack. That's their problem and as for me, I'm done tiptoeing around their sensitive persecution issues - they have become the persecutors.

A divide has formed, and the only unfortunate thing is that conservatives are becoming polarized in their positions as well, unwilling to see what truths do lie in classic liberal ideals (by classic I mean a few decades ago). I know one hubber who labeled me a complete liberal for having some "green" thoughts about smog hanging over our major cities. But at large, most conservatives seem to me to have a greater ability to think critically and most liberals do not have that ability at all anymore.

I say, let us as conservatives, stick to our guns and examine ideas and philosophies with bias and reason, and not let ourselves get forced into a corner where we stand against the enemy instead of for what we believe.

Keith Engel profile image

Keith Engel 4 years ago from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

I think you hit the nail on the head with this one right here. Mr. Mark.

That's their problem and as for me, I'm done tiptoeing around their sensitive persecution issues - they have become the persecutors.

If you examine almost everything, it has been reversed. Everything that they accuse conservatives of being is a persecution that they are perpetuating. I think one of the biggest flips have been the unions. When Unions initially started they had valid claims about thuggery by the owners who would use violence against them to bust them up and the like. Now, the roles have been reversed, they use all sorts of intimidation and thuggery methods. They have become the very thing they riled against when they first formed.

As far as the environmental issue, I have nothing against with improving methods of producing cleaner air as well as actually improving the environment and even the air and the like. I just don't buy into the pseudo/junk science that has been used to try to claim control over major industries and the like.

Keith, I read the question forum.......and you are so correct, that liberals just do not seem to understand how money is made. It is not something that is just printed off, and distributed. There has to be value in it. It has got to be worth something.....in order to pay for something, someone has to sacrifice some sweat and tears. like you said, we can rob peter to pay paul, but then peter has to go without something.

Until liberals finally understand that hard working Americans are the ones who run this country...they will continue to spend, spend, spend.

CMerritt profile image

CMerritt 4 years ago from Pendleton, Indiana Author

Alexander Mark,

Excellent reply, and I agree with you....we conservatives have got to prove ourselves through actions and not words. Look at Wisconsin, Walker IS making a difference up there....his actions are reducing their deficit. Chris Christie is doing the same thing in NJ. Mitch Daniels, (my gov) has done wonderful things in my state, through actions, not words.

Then look at California, they are going bankrupt through liberal policies. New York is suffering severely.

Sooner or later the truth will reveal itself...

I appreciate you taking the time to leave your thoughts, and feel free to add at anytime.

The problem I see with Liberal intellectuals is that they believe we humans are inherently moral and that we can therefore create a higher society. However, we humans are not inherently moral. We enjoy a more civilized society in America due to our Judeo Christian culture. Period. We are used to a certain way of behaving and thinking due to this cultural lifestyle. For example, back in the time of the Roman's, it was commonplace for parents to place a newborn child out in the field to die if it was a female or if it was in any way deformed. The Roman society had no concept of Judeo Christian values, thus they made their own morality, thinking it was wise, practical and brilliant, when in fact it was wrong and insidious. In truth, when any society turns on it's children, it begins to spiral downward.

CMerritt profile image

CMerritt 4 years ago from Pendleton, Indiana Author

Savvydating, first of all, I appreciate your comments and you taking the time to stop by.

But, I think the problem with liberals are not that they are "intellectuals" but the are just flat out obtuse in thinking our government is here to fix all aspects of every American citizens life. Being arroagant rude, obnoxious and hateful...are many of the attributes associated with many of them, when others disagree with them.

I hear your frustration. There is nothing appealing about arrogance. An interesting book to read by an intellectual and former atheist is, "The Rage Againt God: How Atheism led me to Faith."

Today as we dined at a restaurant, my sweet son asked that we both bow our heads to pray, silently. It's not something I am used to doing, but it felt good to practice my faith in public, unobtrusively. It is a right we still have and I am thankful for it. It is also a good way to witness silently. Enough said - I just wanted to share that with you.

Keith Engel profile image

Keith Engel 4 years ago from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Here goes something I am working on you could call me one of those former raging against God types as well:

So in the example of pride, a father feels pride when he sees his son hit his first baseball, a writer feels pride after completing a piece of work, and God felt pride in stating that it was good after each stage of Creation. This is the emotion of pride, that leads in a proper understanding of pride to self-esteem and self-confidence. By attacking pride as the source of sin it is an attack on a normal human emotional response to something that is good. What Singularism understands and will be showing is that emotions if left alone are good and natura. Through using the understanding of emotions though gained from Objectivism it will also show that there is a process of thought behind the emotional response that takes place.

Yet, what leads the emotions astray is the feeding of these good natural emotions with irrational thought and illogical ways of thinking this then leads to immoral and sinful action that different words are more appropriate to use in these instances. Thus, in the instance of pride the actual proper term that should be used as the source of all sin is arrogance.

Arrogance is a false self confidence through irrationality in thinking that one is always right and is never wrong and that one begins places themselves, or others, on a pedestal and to remain on that pedestal the individual must resort to demeaning others. This takes place when one feels the emotion of pride and begins to build off of that emotion certain thoughts.

Thus, going back to the parent example it is when the parent begins to apply irrational thoughts to the emotion of pride and begins to think her child far superior than other children and will verbally attack, sometimes even physically attack, other parents or other children through arrogance in thinking that their child is better than all others. To keep the child on a pedestal one always through arrogance begins to belittle others. Other words that are similar to arrogance are conceitedness, vanity, and being super egotistical.

CMerritt profile image

CMerritt 4 years ago from Pendleton, Indiana Author

savvydating,

I very much appreciate you sharing your story about you and your son praying together.....I understand the warm feeling you get, when you are reminded by one of your children of something you instilled in them, be it outright or simply by being an example to them by the way you lead your life....your son, showed much integrity and character to ask you to something that is out of the ordinary, in a public setting. Also, as you said, a wonderful way to display your faith, in a silent but solid fashion.

Keith, excellent explanation of "arrogance"...and fits as to my point of the attitude of many liberals.

Keith Engel profile image

Keith Engel 4 years ago from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Unfortunately C, the matter of being self confidence, self-esteem, and pride all get confused with arrogance. The waters have been muddied so much at times that many people wouldn't know the difference if it danced like a hula girl in front of them.

I have had the arrogance label used against me many times when I have argued in a tone of confidence. It is a fine line to be sure though in understanding self confidence, self esteem, and pride, from arrogance, conceitedness, vanity, and super egoism and super egotistical. I put the adjective super in front for the same confusion that gets applied to the other areas. Ego is the Greek Word for self, so egoism and egotistical is basically the same as self confidence, and pride, only said in fancy Greek kind of way.

Keith Engel profile image

Hey CM,

I was just watching HBO and they showed a clip from Bill Maher. I don't know who the black lady was but she made the following comment, paraphrasing here a bit.

"There is all this talk about the role of government and if it is to big or should be smaller. How bout we just make government smarter."

I had to chuckle at this for the simple fact, that first only beings with the capacity to think can be considered smart. Hence, the term she actually meant was how about we just make Government more efficient. Well, how do you suppose that should be accomplished lady? With in her own ignorance and thinking that she was making a clever point, she actually pretty much just stated what Conservatives have been saying. We want the Government to be "smarter" to be efficient, currently it can't be efficient due to its own largesse.

CMerritt profile image

CMerritt 4 years ago from Pendleton, Indiana Author

Keith, you are exactly right! WE MUST merely become more efficient! Reducing the overhead and waste is the first place any logical thinking American does to accomplish this.

Maybe I should have added the word 'Naive' to my title...because, I really believe that some, not all, are very naïve, and actually think that there are "free" things in this world....and all logical thinking people KNOW that, "nothing is for free"...Somebody has to pay for those "freebies" and "entitlements".

Good discussion! and great point...

I think I can answer the question why liberals think they are intellectually and morally superior. It's because they've been told so all their lives by liberal educators. They've also had it drilled into them that conservatives are just plain stupid, racist and don't deserve any consideration at all. It's the main reason my college educated daughter forbid me to even discuss politics with her. She was terrified that I would actually make sense and she would then be taken down to my level of the stupid conservative.

I am also going to be working on a Hub that I call the Ivory Tower Complex that gets into various issues of this. Also, a good book to check out and one I am reading right now is called Intellectuals and Society by Thomas Sowell that covers this issue as well.

J elaine,

Yep! you are 100% correct. Many folks have slowly been brainwashed....learing to be Politically correct and early ages, and being told they are being intolerant if they disagree with any liberal issue....being told that republicans are mean, hateful and racist....after a generation of that it becomes the "norm".

Good call.

Stereotypes don't do any good. There is too much partisanship already to add another article into the mix. Too many liberals and conservatives are forgetting that discussion and compassion are what actually work.

tsadjatko, Love the acronym!"

I have found if a conservative debates a liberal where you can go back and analyze the discussion you will be able to check off each letter and they usually occur in the order listed.

Most recently I have found that you can make it L-I-B-E-R-A-L-(S) if you are debating Nancy Pelosi...the "S" is for

S ees dead people.

tsadjatko, I forgot about that! That is the best! Also, you may be right about Pelosi.......she DOES have the sixth sense! She see's Susan B. Anthony on a regular basis!

I think you are on to something!

lol

Those who live in darkness HATE the light. The habitually evil among us HATE light being thrown upon their dark deeds. And their first reaction is to yell "Hater!"

This is well known in psychology as "transference" or "projection." Thieves think everyone they know are crooks. People who hate call others "haters."

Great Hub!

Many liberals believe that their philosophy is the only correct one. Oftentimes the liberal premise is,"Everyone has a right to MY opinion." Liberals criticize conservatives for the same thing that THEY practice themselves. Insightful article, voted UP!

I saw The Hobbit last night, and forgive me but I couldn't help but think the Awks are like the (http://api.ning.com/files/VBDR5wAo257xYXvxOr6ziFU0... ) liberals - The Obama Awks.

Al Gore should become the new idol of the liberal speak crowd. He is perhaps the best at this hypocrisy I have ever seen.

A great example of liberal spite and downright meanness is the liberal paper that published the names and addresses of all the gun owners in two New York counties. As a result, one woman who was being stalked and went into hiding is now being stalked again, and hundreds of police officers' addresses are now known by vengeful criminals.

And every one of them is a law abiding citizen! Their only crime is exercising their Second Amendment right to arm themselves!

What an incredibly arrogant, rude, obnoxious and hateful thing for this liberal paper and its liberal publisher to do! But she says she is prepared to do even more! And so too is Barack Obama, who is preparing to take our rights from us.

I, for one, will not comply, and I hear that millions of others will also refuse to comply. Good.

Will, you just describe exactly what I was getting at, in this hub. That epitimzes how I believe most of the mainstream liberals truly are.

Great rant! The problem from my perspective is facts never get in the way of a liberals conversation it is all emotion. Like after Connecticut let us ban assault weapons...ah they are banned in Connecticut. The liberals never, repeat never want to discuss the core issue they are always on the periphery. Extend unemployment why not create some jobs. The hard thing is never the answer it is always the easy answer. Budget deficit = raise taxes not cut spending..and so on and so on... I just have a hard time believing that "intelligent" liberal people believe what they are saying. Movie stars out to ban guns when they make movies glorifying weapons and their body guards carry them. The ultimate stupidity is publishing the names of gun owners...go for it let them know, the criminals will stay away from my house. Thank you for the beautiful perfectly sane professional hub!

Thank you so very, very much for your kind words and your encouragement!

You understand clearly how common sense is lacking in our country...I appreciate your words....and I agree whole heartedly.

I do not think that anyone who voted for a Democrat is a Liberal or vice versa. I am going to vote for the lesser evil and most of all for someone with a plan. Personally I think there are way to many arrogant people on both sides. How can you elect a bunch of rich snobs into office regardless of party and not be arrogant in most cases. Even more arrogant our news people and people they coin as know it alls. If you think these people represent the population that voted you need to stop watching Television and meet some real people. Did it occur to you that most people hate being poor, working for low pay and few hours, being out of work, needing food stamps and whatever. Unless you our paying your children’s way, your kids just might be one of those people you hate. If we were smart and had any common sense. We would rid ourselves of this two party monopoly on failure and get some real people who Represent us.

I guess they think their better then anyone else just because they often get big mentions in the news or get good grade from liberal minded teachers and collage intelleciual knownothings or are just convinced their better then us all

Hello Spurwing Plover, it is of my opinion, that many liberals place themselves on a higher platform than the rest of us do...and believe they must talk down to others to understand their higher intelligence.

I appreciate your comments,

Chris

Testing. Is this thing on?

*Fiddles with a bunch of dials to get the frequency right and other settings right*

A big chunk of it is the Liberals got the overspending idea in the 1930s *Spending You're Way Out of Debt* which President Hoover started half of the programs in the 30s that Franklin Roosevelt extended. It was good in a sense that it fixed up our infrastructure and improved our roads but once the money is gone it's gone.

It was all designed to make it LOOK like the President was doing something but it was and still is all smoke and mirrors.

The Hippy Movement even further degraded us because of smoking pot.

The New Deal was a continue of the concept of *Spending

Heatblizzard 3 years ago

The Hippies had good ideas for world peace but while they guarded the front door they left the rear door wide open by taking drugs which lowers their vibrations.

Also they allowed their groups to get too big without a central leader so other groups protesting things NOT EVEN RELATED to the hippie movement often joined in.

There was something else I was going to mention but I have been having mental blocks which I believe I am being targeted by the military black ops.

Heatblizzard 3 years ago

Why is it that so many topics on forums are misleading on politics in which replies are usually joking about someones penis?

I have personally given up going to forums because if something is posted that is against.............well I shouldn't say against but different then the liberal conscience then the thread is usually replies that have nothing to do with the topic like someone posting a picture of captain Picard being frustrated which is a typical knee jerk reaction.

You basically have to sit down and shut up.
