Waking Up from a Dream
Waking up from a Dream by Valerie K.T.S. Read
I feel like I am waking up from a dream and woke up to the announcement that Barack Obama and Joe Biden are the new President and Vice-President of the United States of America. That is the first time I use that word "United", because I truly felt that this country was being ripped apart and we were all being pulled by a thin line of trust. Now, my heart is full of joy and I truly cried for the first time. These eight years of being under a police state, where our civil rights and liberties were taken away and replaced with what the government thought we should be thinking or feeling.
I felt like I was living a life out of a nightmare and was never going to wake up from it. I know that we all are going through a difficult time with loosing our homes, jobs, and love ones in the two wars, but let's hope that we have someone who will keep their promise made during this election. We need to give Obama and Biden a chance to work on getting our troupes home from Iraq and Afghan, work on the US economy, the loss of jobs, and put money back in the pockets of the working people, and better healthcare for all of us.
The House of Representatives, Congress, and White house are now in the hands of the Democrats. We put them there to work for us and all of us will expect a change. So, let's now celebrate and feel a release that the eight years of misery under the Bush/Cheney administration is now over. I will be counting the days until they are gone and the new administration takes over the reign in the White house on January 20, 2009. It will be a new year with many possibilities for all of us. Cheers to all and give yourself a pat on the back. We did it and now there is a job to be done.
