Today's subject is law enforcement and the way they abuse their power. Lately in the news there has been alot of coverage of excessive force by law enforcement. The question is why and why do they remain on the job? They used a bean bag gun on a 12 yr old girl in the subway, they grabbed a drunk off a train and pushed him so hard against the wall that a glass window broke injuring the suspect as well as the officer. i see numerous times where a police office is sitting at a red light then just turns on his lights so he can go through the light then turns his off. I know they need to be alert and on their toes but come on excessive force on kids? They stun gunned a girl because she was mouthy and refused to go with the officers after her mother called them because she was out of control. When I lived in Florida I use to deliver newspapers for a living,I was pulled over for a tail light out, the officers who saw my car full of newspapers put me in handcuffs and searched my car. I didn't give them an attitude and consented to the search so why put me in cuffs I just wanted to go back to work. After them not finding anything they uncuffed me,gave me a ticket for the tail light and told me to have a good night. To me that was excessive force I was no threat to 2 200plus lb officers. I'm 5'6" 175lbs I'm not a threat. I've read and heard about alot of officers on the take and they still patrol the streets, does that mean their superiors are also on the take? HMMMMMMM makes one wonder doesn't it? Then if someone stands up against them they have to live in fear for their families and themselves. When they pass the academy, they take an oath to protect and serve. The question is who are they protecting and serving. I've know prostitutes who don't go to jail because they service the officers for free in exchange for non arrest. Some people in possession and drug dealers are still on the street because they give the police and some federal officers a cut of their stuff. A few weeks ago in the news there was a bust and it was caught on tape the officers instead of doing their job were playing video games in the house being raided, what's that deal all about? So who are they really protecting the public or the law breakers? Prostitution, gangs, drugs, crimes are all on the rise. Last week a 17 yr old girl was driving and she hit a 12 yr old boy who was in the crosswalk and she left the scene of the accident then filed a false police report saying her car was vandalized and when the police caught up with her they took her license and sited her. she was never arrested. Here lies a poor kids who had the right away in the hospital with is faced all messed up as well as other injuries and this girl is walking around free. I don't know about you but my butt would've been thrown in jail. I also read an report where a judge is about to give this lady who threatened this financial advisor and his family in a fatal attraction case 5 yrs probation instead of jail time. For me I would be worried about my families safety. If something happened to him or any of his family because of her wouldn't the judge be part to blame also for know how this lady was and setting her free with probation?

Back in Sept,2009 in Fayetteville a 74 yr old alleges excessive force used in search. Aug 2009 a former Fulton jail lieutenant pleaded guilty in federal court for using excessive force against an inmate in custody and lied to federal agents. Nov 25th,2009 former Memphis police officer convicted of excessive force. It's people like that That Burn My Goat!

Hi Ace,

While I not disagreeing with your assessment of a few bad apples, cops get the least amount of support for all lousy jobs performed in America. Ace, there is so much disrespect of officers of law today, they are afraid to pull anyone over unless they are absolutely sure. I live in Phoenix and I can tell, there have been horrible stories of officers shot in the face during routine traffic stops. When society thinks they can push around our “Law Enforcement” we are in bad times. I do not condone unnecessary force, but I am the last to point out all the mistakes cops make. A cop gets sued much easier than a crooked politician. Our police and sheriffs deserve more than the lousy pay they receive for risking their life and limb everyday for strangers. Just a tip of a pen of what I think on this subject. Thanks.
