What Is The Worse of Two Evils: Terrorism or Racism?

Updated on August 23, 2014

The murder of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO., by a white police officer, by watching CNN, you might think it was the most important issue on the world stage. Their coverage has blanketed the hours on TV, devoting endless time talking about the same issues. Depending on the whether the announcer is black or white, there seems to be some bias toward the issue. Not so much racist views, but more to do about fairness.

What is also tragic about this is how racist many of the blacks are towards anyone who might support or question the validity of the eyewitnesses. One white woman who expressed support for the police officer was surrounded and threatened until police arrived to protect their right to protest peacefully. The black representative for this area advocated civil disobedience IF the grand jury did not give them what they want- to send the police officer to a trial. The murder of this black teen was not justified but the black community think they can get what they want through threats. Rioting and causing destruction of innocent people certainly will not give them justice. Some eyewitnesses are in fear for their own lives if their testimony does not support what the majority of people want- death or jail for the police officer. Doesn't this sound like some Islamic State?

Racism will never go away. It will always be around in subtle ways because one cannot enforce all of the equal opportunity laws, all the time. There are many of all colors that are "silent" racists. Racist views are sometimes cloaked in economic jealousy, lack of education. Where are all the rich or well-off black Americans? Only a few actually go out and demonstrate because they succeeded in life, those demonstrating, for the most part, have not. They are discontent about many things-jobs, pay, education, and life in general. Sending the police officer to jail for murder will not change any of their discontent.

Terrorism is the most extreme racist mode. ISIS is the Middle East IS the most serious problem for the world. By comparison, the death of Michael Brown is a drop in the bucket. ISIS has slaughtered tens of thousands because they were not of the same faith, did not follow the extreme customs of this Muslim group, wear Western clothes, or are simply Shiite. They are ruthless until they achieve their goal.

ISIS earns some one million a day, by some accounts, through illegal means. They have declared war on America and those associated with them. It was WAY more important even though they are thousands of miles away. ISIS cares less about the color of your skin but will kill you just because your an American.

That is a whole different level of racism!
