What is it you don't get, Congress?

Congress loves polls. Why don't they understand them?

Can anyone in Congress keep their title? "The Honorable" are in disrepute.

I wish my Congressman and my Senators could explain what it is they don't understand about the most recent public poll which gives Congress a 10% approval rating!

We see all the political leaders running for office, on TV, building warchests, mailing mailers, giving speeches, calling in to talk shows, etc..

What I can't figure out is this: are they running for Congress, or from Congress?

How does any group of leaders with a 10% approval rating even think they have a right to remain in office, much less be referred to as "The Honorable Representative" this, or "The Honorable Senator" that.

What is it that you don't get, Congress?

Americans are tired of the dillydally drift, the deadlock, the lack of civil discourse, and the abject failure to get Americans back to work, to protect American homeowners, to reduce the waste of scarce tax revenues, to pass legislation to better balance exports and imports, to shore up our decaying infrastructure, to invest in a superior public education, to solve the problems of illegal immigration, to overhaul the cumbersome and unequal tax code and its loopholes, to seat qualified judges in the courts to better handle a stagnant system of justice, to oversee the functions of government you were elected to oversee, and to reach agreements on saving Social Security, reducing our National Debt, respecting our military and veterans, and reforming welfare and entitlements.

While you are busy raising campaign funds, why can't you recognize that "big money" in the guise of the "Super Political Action Committees" (Super PACs) is out of the control you were sent to Washington, DC to exercise?

What gives you the right to think that you can one day retire with a beautiful pension fund, and health care, unless you earned those benefits by working hard and effectively like the rest of us must work to hope for a secure retirement and medical care for ourselves and our loved ones?

What is it you don't understand about your job, when Americans can be held without trial, even assassinated by drone missiles, in violation of the Constitution you are sworn to uphold and protect? Are you so concerned about public opinion in that regard, but not concerned about the same public opinion which says that 9 out of 10 Americans don't approve of your job performance?

I would rather have you take hold and do your job, than I would to caution you that your pink slips are waiting and the American Board of Voters is ready to hand them out, if you don't get our message and get started doing the work we hired you for.

You are known for watching the public opinion polls. Those polls don't distinguish between Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, they are rating the Congress, the nation's "hired guns." Time is getting short, to up your performance or admit that you can't find a way to do that, and go home in disgrace

Don't count on a future as lobbyists. We are looking for representatives and senators who can tackle that glaring problem, too!

Some say this is the problem:

Is it true that you rate Congress poorly, but your own Congressmen highly?

Or maybe, the more appropriate question is why don't they want to get it? The 10% approval rating poll only shows the inadequacy between, we the people and them as servants of the corporations. If it is so, what I don't doubt, it is time for them to activate the eject seat!

In whatever companies, such performance made by an individual will end up with a lay-off!

They don't have "to get it." As long as the sheep keep re-electing them that don't have to do anything different than they are doing now. And they won't as long as re-election percentages remain in the 80 and 90 percent range.

Superpacs are nothing more than a way for Republicans to get as much money as the UNIONS give Democrats........all in fairness my friend!

Congress has passed many worth while bills over the past 2 years and the Democrats in the Senate force them dead on arrival! The naive of this country simply do not understand this........thus the 10% approval!

It would indeed be helpful to eliminate obstructionism in the Congress, for which both parties have crosses to bear, but the list of essential legislation which hasn't even been tackled by either party is enough to brand both parties as ineffective both as leaders and as legislators. Now we are approaching another big problem, shortages of nurses and doctors of all varieties to handle the influx of patients who will suddenly want the medical care (Obamacare, if you wish) that Congress has made them entitled to (or be fined.) Nurses and doctors numbers sufficient to handle that increased workload can't be trained fast enough to fill the existing gap. And, making the quality of that care uniform across the United States is highly unlikely.

Once they get in office the deal with those that put them there is over. I write to my representatives all the time and I am sick of their stock wishy-washy replies. Send this letter to everyone in Congress. Up and awesome.

breakfastpop : Here we are six months later and where is Congress? At least when they are not in session they can't pass bad legislation. That's the only compensation for not passing good legislation. We have enough of the one, and a paucity of the other!
