Where Are You, Mr. President?

Searching for Obama

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Thursday, July 10, 2014. Our noisy friend, Chiquita Cicada, is here with me at the breakfast table. She has brought along enough breakfast burritos to feed an army. Please join Chiquita at the table. She is mystified by the behavior of the President of the United States and she needs to vent. We hope to see you soon.

Source

On The Road Again..

Thank you all for joining me this morning. Your President Obama is on the road again. He is in Texas to attend two fundraisers for Democrats. Let me repeat that. Your President Obama is in Texas to attend two fundraisers. He is not in Texas to witness, first hand, the growing invasion of illegal immigrants on the southern border with Mexico. Perhaps he doesn't want to be associated with a crisis he created.

While thousands upon thousands of children, men and women are walking into the country, your President Obama is refusing to make an appearance despite pleas from both Democrats and Republicans to do just that. Those who are urging President Obama to go, want him to see just how bad things are. A human tragedy is unfolding at the border and President Obama is detached, aloof and out to lunch, or should I say fundraise?

Source

Bad Photo Op

Clearly, President Obama doesn't want to be seen in the same locale as all the children lying around like sardines on the floor. Perhaps he is afraid one of the kids will cough near him. The kind of TB they are carrying spreads like wildfire. Although he said that this crisis is not about a photo op , he didn't pass up the opportunity to have his photo taken shooting pool with Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper. It seems to this bug that your President Obama wants to show America just how unconcerned he is about all these people streaming into the US. I can't imagine that the American people are pleased with their president's casual attitude to a grave crisis. His only involvement thus far is to ask Congress for $3.7 billion in emergency spending to increase resources at the border. Although he has talked about how this emergency funding will be spent, Republicans in Congress don't trust him to do the right thing. They may be on to something. Perhaps they are ready to learn from the past, President Obama's past to be exact.

Source

Come On Over!

President Obama remarked that his focus is on solving the problem at the border. If that is the case, why is he wasting time raising money for Democratic candidates. If the crisis is at the forefront of his thoughts and priorities, why is he avoiding the plague at the borders? It just may be too messy for his sensitive soul. Perhaps he is afraid of gang members who have crossed over the borders. It is already known that MS-13, a notorious international gang, has very strong ties to several of the Central American countries that illegal aliens are leaving. None of these people have anything to fear. The green light is shining bright for anyone wanting entry into the United States. Every day loads of these people, the children included, are leaving the camps and disappearing into towns and cities all across America. If President Obama is concerned about this dangerous breach of national security he has an odd way of showing it. He has taken time out to shoot pool with a fellow Democrat. Perhaps a quick golf game is in order, as well. After all, how serious can this crisis really be if the President of the United Staes is relaxed enough to play games. If he's not worried, the American people shouldn't be worried either.

Source

Head in the Sand

It is time to take your collective heads out of the sand. President Obama prefers to keep his head buried, but the American people can't afford the luxury of apathy or ignorance. Your nation is under siege and your president is playing pool and playing with your lives. I am not being dramatic. I am being realistic and I fear for the future of your great nation. Short of marching on Washington, which I feel is a good idea, bombard your representatives with e-mails, snail mail and phone calls. Make their lazy lives miserable and don't let up. It is now or never!

Chiquita's Song

I'm Chiquita Cicada and I'm here to say

Tell Congress to act

Or you'll make them go away!

I'm sitting here trying to compose a letter to several senators about the Supreme Court ruling on Hobby Lobby, on which I wrote an article yesterday. I am cc'ing the President on it which I'm sure will get me a form letter response from some automaton grunt who works in a secretarial pool stuffing them in envelopes. It is not the first letter I've written to a President and given my personality,it won't be the last one either.

My advice for anyone who is contemplating writing their congressmen is to always cc: to the President because they have to keep the letters in archives for 100 years after the sitting President leaves office. That means whatever you wrote can possibly become a historical document if you wrote on an important issue. Obama's activities while in office are sure to become an issue for the foreseeable future.

I urge anyone thinking about writing, to stop thinking and get busy doing it. It will only cost you a stamp. :)

I often write my Congressman and get back a canned response that has nothing to do with the subject I wrote about. I try calling and end up talking with an aide who of course has no opinion. The last time I talked to an aide, I asked him if my representative is really still alive and reporting to work on a regular basis. He advised me I would be receiving a phone call directly from my rep, but that has never happened.

I will take the advice offered in the previous comment and start copying the President on my letters.

Good Morning, Rachael,

I just learned something new, thanks to you. When I write and I get a form letter response, I reply immediately explaining how disgusted I am with their non-answer. The last time I did that, I did get a response that had substance. I just wrote yesterday and am waiting to see if I get back anything meaningful. This is all very frustrating. See you at the Inn.

You nailed it in the first paragraph when you said Obama created this crisis. That is the main reason referring to it as Obama's Katrina is inaccurate since Bush didn't create Katrina.

Good afternoon! I thought I'd pop by to see what you had to write today, and again, I enjoy reading your articles! My concern is for the unemployed who have been without benefits for several months now. I have a friend who lost her job and she received her state 26 weeks of benefits and then it ran out. It used to be where she could collect another 13 weeks at the federal level, but they stopped that. She lost her home, her kids had to move in with her ex husband and it's horrible. President Obama promised to help with unemployment extensions and Speaker Boehner is blocking every move the Senate has passed regarding the extension.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 2 years ago Author

Dear weezychannel,

The extension of unemployment expired in Dec. of 2013. Currently there is a bi-partisan bill in both the House and Senate that would extend benefits for 5 months to people who have been unemployed for a long time. Congress works slowly, but I believe help is on the way.

From what she reads, Speaker Boehner will not pass the vote for anything. She is so depressed I feel sorry for her. I don't know what to do to help. Financially she's a mess, and then to lose her kids to boot because she can't afford to take care of them, she is just devastated. She is a professional woman too, she is in her early 30's, she just can't find work where she lives. I told her of your find with the bi-partisan bill, and she said she can't find anything on it except negativity and it won't pass. May I ask where you found that and is this updated information? thank you and am looking forward to your next article!

I didn't know anything about this. I thought it was Harry Reid who was stopping everything. Perhaps it is both of them just playing politics as usual.

weezyschannel profile image

Hey Old..according to what she and I have read, Harry is the one trying to get it going. It passed the Senate a couple months ago, but it can't get passed the House because of Boehner..She is so upset..she has even called Boehner's office and gets no where. Ridiculous! I can see if she was a lazy bum not trying to find work, but most of these people have been out of work for over a year. They are getting nothing..as I said, she ended her regular 26 weeks at the state level, they aren't even giving the regular extra 13 weeks at the federal level any longer. Harry is fighting for the extensions but Boehner won't touch it or consider it

Our elected representatives are so busy playing politics they just don't have time to solve problems. They really could care less what is happening to the citizens of this country as long as they get reelected to office. I am sorry to hear about what this person is having to endure while our politicians do nothing but fight like little children. We really need a leader who can get things done in a timely manner.

It now looks like the inmates have successfully taken over the asylum.

It is outrageous that nothing is being done to stop the influx of illegals into this country.

Every incumbent in Washington should be replaced when they next come up for reelection. We should send them all a message to not bother spending even a dime on their next campaign because they are out-of-there. These campaign dollars should be diverted to caring for the thousands of illegals they are allowing to enter this country.

breakfastpop profile image

Dear Mike,

I think Congress and the Obamas should be forced to bring loads of these people including the criminals into their homes. They should clothe and feed them and pay for their outrageous medical bills. Then and only then will the magnitude of this crisis hit home. My philosophy for the next election is; "If you were in, you are OUT!" To the Inn!

Old Poolman profile image

Old Poolman 2 years ago from Rural Arizona

I wonder if we were being invaded by a foreign military if this President would react or just hit the campaign trail and do some fund raising?

Well, we are being invaded but by illegals rather than an army. These innocent children come here sick, hungry, and in need of support.

I wonder if this act of ignoring this problem is just another nail in America's coffin? In spite of this administrations best efforts our economy is still breathing and limping along. Caring for these illegals could be the final effort to completely destroy our weak economy.

Rather than sealing the border Obama is asking for billions of dollars to provide food, shelter, and healthcare for these children.

I can't see this situation as anything other than a further attempt to weaken and destroy this country.

I hope all of those who voted this guy in for a second term are at least feeling a little guilt if not shame.

breakfastpop profile image

Dear Mike,

The children are a disastrous problem, but so are the criminals. Obama and Congress are wasting precious time. Most of these children don't know why they are here and want to go home. The adults can't wait to melt into society. We can't afford this invasion economically or socially. Obama has puled out all the stops. Anyone who wants to destroy a nation should read his playbook.

We lost the battle for our borders years ago. The 21st century minutemen were the last opportunity we had to force the federal government to do its job, and we failed. To be brutally frank, we failed because most Americans didn't give a rip, and as you can see, they still don't give a rip.

MS13 coming in?? Yep. They're taking advantage of this unique opportunity, though they come in almost at will anyway. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it Pops: Our lax attitude towards our borders will cost us a city, maybe more.

pop....I need to ask a question which will expose me as terribly uninformed...but, Oh well......there's only one way to learn. Ask.

Just how much control and/or power do individual States have in terms of this mess?

I continue to be confused as to why (for instance) Texas, California....cannot take the proverbial; BULL by the horns and take serious action with these illegal immigrants arriving in throngs over our borders.....

What would the consequence or backlash be if the States just loaded them all right back up again....and literally TOOK THEM BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM. ??? In the end, that would have to be far less expensive than harboring, housing, feeding and providing medical care......can you take a moment to answer this for me? I always appreciate your learned information.

@Breakfastpop, Obama does not have his head in the sand, his head is somewhere else. He believes that he is right in what he is doing. He strongly believes that the illegals are good for America. Not only Obama, if you read the post of many of the more utopic hubbers here, they are of the same accord as Obama. I had a spar with some of them regarding the issue of illegals. I indicated that having illegals is totally unwise and detrimental to this country as they have no relevant nor contributable skills. This means that they will use our social systems which the tax payer will foot the bill. I also stated that there are criminals and gang members among them and that isn't good. I suggested that strong militias should be established to send the illegals back to their respective countries. I was called everything from a racist to a white supremacist. I was even likened to Adolf Hitler( BTW, I am a Black woman). The issue of illegals is an economic one, not a racial/ethnic one. Obama simply does not care how illegals are ruining communities and destroying neighborhoods. He feels that granting amnesty to illegals is a "humanitarian" act. No, it ISN'T , it is not humanitarian as our economy is extremely tenuous and when the illegals get jobs, they will displace many lower income Americans into an underclass. Doesn't Obama know what he is doing? Yes, he does and he does not give a crap pure and simple. We Americans have to rise and protest this. This illegal debacle has GONE too far and it is the straw that is breaking America's back. It is so sad to see the America I love coming to this( I'm crying now).

Their reluctance to educate themselves ruined things for everyone.

Good Morning fp,

Small towns have been refusing to let busloads of these people into their towns. The buses turned around and went elsewhere. Sending these people back where they came from is expensive. The federal government could do that if they wanted to. Obama has unleashed a plague on America. Hideous diseases that we eradicated are being re-introduced and gang members are running rampant. The Obama administration broke the law by refusing to enforce their own laws! When Gov. Brewer decided to enforce those laws, Holder came after her. Let's face it, we have a rogue president in Washington and a do- nothing Congress. The end result will be the death of America, and this is not drama, it is fact. If a bus shows up in New Jersey, I would expect Christie to stop the bus in its tracks. I might be dreaming, but I hope not. All the states have to do is enforce the laws on the books. I think the law is on their side despite the actions of Obama and his buddy Holder.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 2 years ago Author

Good Morning gmwilliams,

I am crying with you. Obama's actions are classic when it comes down to enacting a strategy to change a nation forever. His goal is to to turn America into a Euro style socialist state. Those people arguing with you, are either socialists or card carrying fools who don't understand the magnitude of what is happening. Our entire way of life is endangered in every respect, from our economy to our safety to our health. You have no idea how many people I know, educated people, who never even raise the issue. America will fall into ruin while its citizens sleep.

BreakfastPop? I actually waited for your answer to fpherj48 this morning.

One possible short answer is this: “Our states are united in subservience only, subservience to the current federal will.”

The feds currently do not deport illegal immigrants. In fact, these immigrants have been told they will not be turned away.

These immigrants will not be deported because they are ‘at risk’ children who claim fear of their home land.

They will not be deported because of human trafficking, to ensure these children do not end up being treated as slaves wherever they are returned to.

They will not be deported by the States, because deportation is the role of the federal government. As you indicated, this role was re-enforced recently in Arizona, when the federal government intervened in Arizona’s attempts to deport.

The Federal role will not be changed, because States simply no longer hold any influence in our United States government. In our current form of government, Partisans rule - this has been upheld by our Supreme Court. The current partisan power chooses not to deport.

Economically, dollars rule. In a federal system where dollars have to be budgeted years in advance of a crisis, there is no money available to pay federal organizations to deport. They are not being deported, because, economically, they make good hostages. Our cries of outrage will influence our Congressional representatives to vote for more money to help make the federal government grow to deal with this ‘crisis’. This will come to us a new law.

Old Poolman profile image

Old Poolman 2 years ago from Rural Arizona

I have never run a country or anything like that, but I do know this just from being on the planet for many years.

When something is leaking and causing a problem and further damage, the first thing to do is to stop the leak. That could be a water pipe, a tire on your car, a sack of sugar, or anything.

Why is there no action plan to seal our leak at the border before we start asking for money to repair the damage? If this leak is not fixed soon, the 4 Billion buck Obama is asking for will just be a drop in the bucket to what it will eventually cost we taxpayers. As I understand it, very little of the requested 4 Billion bucks will go to border security. The rest will go for healthcare, education, housing, food, and welfare for those illegals who are here now.

Is it me or is this really screwed up? If I were in charge I would have fixed this leak months or years ago.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 2 years ago Author

Dear FitnezzJim,

The money t deport is there. It is being given as foreign aid to countries that dump their problems on us. First thing to do is to cut off all aid to Mexico. The money wasted should be used to fly these people back from whence they came. All foreign aid should stop to the countries emptying their shores to our shores. We can't afford to absorb these children. Some of these children are not children at all. Others are gang members in search of more gang members. Many are carriers of disease. virulent diseases that we can't cope with. Obama and anyone who agrees with him are responsible for the destruction of America. We have laws in place. Enforce them!

Breakfastpop, there are THOSE who are quite DELUSIONAL as to the current state of America regarding the illegal problem. If one presents a sound logical argument regarding this case, one is called right-wing, fascist. There are 4 hubbers(no names that would be unprofessional and unethical) who are known for their EXTREME liberal leanings(I'm Liberal but not Leftist) attacking those who soundly state that these illegals will create socioeconomic havoc to this country. Please don't say that there are criminals among them, they will form packs and attack you, calling you racist. Race/ethnicity is moot in the case regarding illegals, it is the LEGALITY and ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY of the situation. I don't believe a word of what politicians say. Politicians are upscale con artists. Politicians are in it for their own gain and for the celebrity/riches it ensues. According to a networth article, Attorney General Eric Holder is worth 11.5 million dollars. Being a politician is a sure way to become wealthy in addition to being a celebrity. Remember the saying that politics is show business for ugly people. Politicians see us as their pawns, no more no less.

Our government will continue to grow out of control as long as Obama is in the WH. For that matter, it will continue to expand its powers at an alarming rate as long as there is a Democrat in the WH. See you at the Inn.

Dear fp and gm,

The only way to change the political culture is to throw everyone out of office. We need shorter term limits and fresh faces on a regular basis. Did you know that there are tons of millionaires in Congress and that more of them are Dems than Reps? Where are they getting this money?

Looks like you're asking...so I'll shoot off my mouth with an angry answer......They are thieves, plain and simple......They steal, lie, cheat, manipulate, finagle, accept unending donations and gifts in trade for "favors," make crooked deals, live in the lap of luxury on our hard earned dime......and have the utter audacity to look down their noses on the "little people." BASTARDS......every last one of them.

To fp and Breakfastpop, these politicians are something else. Yesterday, I received mail from one of the main politicians in my state asking for a donation. Really? I just tore up the envelope and threw it away. The nerve! Politicians are our robber barons. You are right Breakfastpop, time to clean house and put sincere people whose purpose is to work and serve US. We Americans have to learn to reclaim our power and make the politicians accountable to us. We have given our power to politicians and THIS is THE RESULT, they see us as hoi polloi, inferiors thus disrespecting us.

Good Morning gmwilliams,

We need shorter term limits. No one should be allowed to be a career politician. Once elected they are in it for themselves. After years and years of returning to Washington, they completely forget who they work for. It is time to remind them. See you at the Inn.

I seriously doubt we will ever get the much needed term limits. The deck is stacked against us because the only one's who can make that happen are the very one's who would lose their jobs.

We citizens could do this at the voting booth if we just refused to vote for anyone who had already served two terms.

Dear Mike,

Okay then, consider it done. By the way people are getting together in different places throughout the nation to protest the immigration fiasco. Finally.... See you at the Inn.

The question would be how to get this out to the voters? Many still just vote straight party lines and could not even tell you who the candidates are. Others use whatever criteria to pick their candidates with preference toward the word "Free."

If we could get the message out that nobody with two terms behind them would get any votes it would sure change the election process. They would be reluctant to spend any of the money they were able to steal from us on a campaign.

It could be done but it would strictly be up to the voter to make it happen.

Dear Mike,

We need high information voters to pull this off. With networks working for the administration it makes getting the info out extremely difficult. For some of these people, it would take a bunch of illegal aliens carrying guns to knock on their collective doors and say Obama sent us!

Patti, you are of course correct. I know that millions of people use facebook as their main source of information. If we could get the educated voters to start putting this out on their facebook pages it could gain momentum before the next election.

Unfortunately I am facebook dumb and rarely put anything at all on my page.

Dear Mike,

The stuff on Facebook is insane and stupid. I was on it and decided I had better get off. I do not regret the decision.

Dear Mike,

If I was not on HP I wouldn't know you. That would be a great loss in my view.
