Who Owns The Economy Now Debbie Downer?

Updated on March 10, 2012

The DNC's Gift That Keeps On Giving

I love the fact that no one has thrown a muzzle on Debbie Downer - YET! I'm just wondering how long it will take before Obama calls her in on the carpet and tells her to shut the hell up. Sometimes I wonder if DWS and I are living in the same country much less on the same planet.

Here's Downer's latest case of "foot in mouth" disease. Her words not mine.

“We own the economy. We own the beginning of the turnaround and we want to make sure that we continue that pace of recovery, not go back to the policies of the past under the Bush administration that put us in the ditch in the first place,” Wasserman Schultz told Mike Allen at a breakfast hosted by POLITICO’s Playbook.

The economy, she said, “has turned around” since President Obama took office, with steady job growth evident even if the pace leaves something to be desired.

She used the word "recovery." What recovery? She and her pals passed a stimulus bill that cost the US tax payer, and future generations, about $862 billion. It produced how many jobs. Don't count the saved ones Debbie. How many "shovel ready" projects were produced Downer? If I remember correctly, unemployment wouldn't rise above 8% if our money was at risk. It stands at about 9.1% now so take credit for that too while you're patting Obama on the back. So lets take a look at what he said and then he had the gall, which he has a lot of, to chuckle it up that shovel ready wasn't exactly shovel ready. Of course it wasn't. I worked on a planning commission and it takes years and years to get a project off the ground.

He finds it amusing?

Lets give credit where credit is due, especially to a hypocrite like Wasserman Schultz. I'm wondering when the last time she went to the grocery store was? I wonder if she ever pulls up to the gas pump? I'm part of the "Sticky Note Campaign." When I pull up to the pump I have a large pad of those Post It Notes. On each is written, "How's That Hope And Change Workin' Out For You?" It hasn't done a thing for me.

I'm wondering if this woman believes in fairy tales, the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. It might be nice if she stuck to the facts. There is no recovery to claim credit for Wasserman Schultz. What there actually has been is continuing to throw good money after bad in an effort to perform the Democrat's usual smoke and mirrors act. I'm not sure the American public is biting the hook on this deal. He doesn't have a clue about how to fix the economy. The Keynesian approach failed again.

Lets take a look at the actual facts. If these are indicators of an economic recovery then I'm really a frog that turns into a prince. With unemployment sitting at over 9%, foreclosures exceeding 6 million units and climbing, the loss of 865,000 manufacturing jobs and approximately 1 million construction jobs (my field of endeavor) and adding a whooping $3.7 trillion and counting of debt to our national deficit, she defines that as a recovery? Obama has had three straight record high deficits. All leading economic indicators are down and all commodity prices are up. What an equation for an economic recovery is this dunce using. So we're in a recovery? From what? Stupidity? BINGO!

Being a bit uncertain about just how far Debbie Downer is capable of shoving her foot is a complete mystery. She reminds me of a want ad for being the Chair of the DNC. It reads, "Anyone who speaks the truth, need not apply." That was right up her alley so she applied and got the job.

The Republicans and Democrats are in agreement somewhat about this one. They are both enjoying Downer's performance to date. Presented on one side is a gaffing attack dog. The Republicans like that because the majority of Americans don't care for such an animal. They see through it. The Democrats claim that with the exception of her having a severe case of foot-in-mouth disease (they call it a few missteps) she is growing into her new role. Grow, Debbie, Grow! According to them she is galvanizing fund raising and solidifying the party's liberal base.

Strange! Liberals comprise 20% of the electorate. The rest of us are over to the center and right of that. So you galvanize 20% and alienate 80%. Wonderful! GROW - Debbie - GROW! In fact, go to a larger shoe size!!!

Please Don't Muzzle Morons

Yes Debbie, Obama and your party do indeed own the economy. You wanted it, you got it and you're sending it further into the tank. The time for blaming Bush is long past. Have a back bone like Reagan did. Did he complain about the absolute disaster Carter left him? No, he did not. He rolled up his sleeves and tackled it head on. He wasn't a finger pointer, he was a leader.

So You Wanted Change Did You?
