Your Health is in Danger

Problem Sur La Voie!

Good Morning Breakfastpoppers. Today is Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Our French friend, Antoine, has joined me for breakfast this morning. He baked a huge batch of croissants and you are all invited to share in the deliciousness. Antoine is quite concerned about our health and he would like to chat with us. See you soon.

Bonjours mes amis. Il est moi, Antoine. Cancer patients are discovering that some of the nation's best cancer hospitals will not be available to them under Obamacare. Insurers in state after state involved in the exchanges are excluding these elite hospitals in an effort to keep costs down.

STOP!

Source

Memorial Sloan-Kettering is included by two out of nine insurers in New York City. At present it has two out-of-network agreements with two more companies. An Associated Press survey found that just four out of 19 comprehensive cancer centers that answered the survey have access through all of the insurance companies in their state exchanges. Patients are being denied access to quality care. This really is a matter of life and death. It really is ironic. President Obama promised that patients could not be refused insurance because of a cancer diagnosis. The exact opposite is happening now, because patients are being denied the kind of quality care that these elite institutions offer.

The exchanges are narrowing their list of providers to keep costs down. When President Obama promised healthcare for everyone, he never mentioned what kind of healthcare it was going to be. Superb cancer hospitals utilize the very latest clinical research in combination with a diverse approach to cancer treatment that produces better than average survival rates.

Ignorance is Not Bliss!

People signing up for the exchanges are not being made aware of how restrictive these plans are. Their relief at being able to obtain insurance quickly fades to despair when they learn how limited their choices are. It is also possible that this move to narrow the networks will spread to employer provided insurance, as well. The Obama' Administration's Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently released a report predicting that Obamacare could cause premiums to rise for almost two-thirds of small to medium- sized businesses. What this means is that about 11 million people will experience the pain of higher premiums. The true numbers are much higher than this. This low-ball estimate is just the tip of the iceberg.

The outlook for cancer patients is even worse.. Without the freedom to seek the most innovative care, people will be forced to accept second and third tier treatment. The so-called Affordable Care Act is not affordable and clearly it is not designed to offer the kind of quality care patients deserve.

Stay Healthy!

The only solution to this continuing fiasco is to dismantle Obamacare. This bug doubts that any of this will get turned around. Governments grow, they never shrink. Government bureaucracy doesn't solve problems, it creates them. President Obama will never abandon his "signature" legislation. He promised us that he would fundamentally change America and thus far he is keeping his word.

The day of reckoning has arrived

Against you, tyranny's ugly flag is raised...

Antoine, all I can say is "you ain't seen nothing yet" in regards to the level of care Obamacare will provide. If you happen to be over the age of 70, you can only hope for pain pills to treat even a catastrophic illness. It seems that once we hit that magic age we have pretty much outlived our usefulness.

This rule of course doesn't apply to members of Congress or government workers. They received exemptions from Obamacare because they made the rules.

Obamacare did enact many new non-heath care related taxes, and it provides health insurance for a few formerly uninsured people, but that is about it.

We can only hope the people learn the truth about Obamacare prior to the next election.

Pop and Antoine,

Looks like Obama will give us the best of 19th Century medicine at 21st century prices. Enjoyed your singing of La Marseillaise.

To all the morons who voted for this piece of garbage in the white house: Thanks a million. You all suck because you voted for him twice!

Good Morning mon ami,

It is true. 'We ain't seen nothing yet." Obama and his willing band of fools deliberately destroyed a system that was working. It would have been much simpler to just deal with the uninsured without destroying insurance for the 85 percent of the population that like their coverage. But, this wasn't about insurance or healthcare, this was about taking over the economy. How's that for "change"?

Antoine - I just noticed I have slipped from a Level 8 Commenter to a Level 6 Commenter. Unless Obamacare can help me with this problem, this may well be the last comment I ever make on Hub Pages.

Pop and Andtoine, The effects of Obamacare for cancer patients is reprehensible. It breaks my heart to see these people on the news (that Harry Reid cause liars) tell their stories of not having any insurance coverage or at least adequate insurance to meet the cancer expenses. That is a sure, horrible death for them. I am so glad that you are still writing about the horrible mess our country is experiencing.

Since I haven't been to the inn lately, I will meet you there tonight and I'm buying!

In addition, people with preexisting conditions are discovering that the plans they can now buy either do not pay for their needed drugs at all or their copays are so high that they cannot afford them.

The socialism and communism just jumps out in your face, huh? Obama is creating a "class system" in this country and Obamacare is living proof of it. The rich will continue to get whatever they want but the middle income earners will slowly be crushed into that impoverished lot who are dependent on the government at every turn--destined to be the peasant subjects of a ruling class fully equipped with an overgrown ego and a total belief that the world is better off with their advent into it. Hitler elected exterminate people; Obama has elected to let them "selectively die" on their own. ~WB

Just think, our Great Grandchildren will be asking us what it was like to live when there was a middle class.

Dear Mike,

I think that's what I am now. Maybe we are being punished for not drinking the cool-ade. In any case, stay where you are. I can't picture sitting down to breakfast without you. By the way, Obamacare doesn't fix anything. It puts all who come near it in a fix! To the Inn!

Dear Pamela,

I woud e so happy to write about something happy and uplifting, but under the circumstances that is impossible. When it comes to Obamacare, the worst is yet to come! I'll be at the Inn on the early side.

Dear Wayne,

Selective dying sounds like a plan cooked up by the likes of Valerie Jarrett and Obama. This is their idea of cutting costs and truly ruling with an iron fist. What's happening now is so beyond the imagination. It is time for normal people who love this country to march! See you at the Inn

POP: Computer Fixed!

Hospitals are reluctant to join the exchanges because of the administrative and regulatory burden that will be placed upon them by the ACA. Hospitals are also concerned about not knowing who their customer would be (this makes no sense to me) and now we get to it, the chances of getting paid with the high deductibles., so they would rather not join in. Very Sad. Too much paperwork! thanks, Barack! Now to the Inn......

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 2 years ago Author

Good Morning Kris,

Actually, these fine hospitals are being excluded from the exchanges in an effort to cut costs. The exchanges are severely limiting access to good doctors and premier hospitals. The networks they are creating are very narrow and certainly not in the best interests of patients. See you at the Inn.

Old Poolman profile image

Old Poolman 2 years ago from Rural Arizona

This makes me wonder how many are thinking it is the hospitals excluding themselves rather than Obamacare excluding them from the program?

The facts are that the current program no longer even resembles the bill that was voted on before being allowed to read it. Perhaps they were not allowed to read it because many of the pages were blank? I have to wonder where the original bill that started this mess is being stored. Would it even be possible to do a page by page comparison of today's bill with the original bill?

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 2 years ago Author

Good Morning Mike

From everything I've read the hospitals are being excluded by the exchanges in order to limit the scope of the plans and try to keep costs down. Prior to this premier hospitals were fighting for patients. I would love to see the original bill and compare it, but I have a feeling the changes are not in print. They pop out of Obama's mind and it becomes the law of the land! See you at the Inn.

Old Poolman profile image

Old Poolman 2 years ago from Rural Arizona

It is strange that a bill that was voted on by Congress can just be changed, subtracted from, or added to at the whim of our President. So far I have not heard of a single protest from any of our elected representatives. What the heck are they thinking?

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 2 years ago Author

Dear Mike,

The President has exceeded his authority He does not have the right to change the law. I have heard grumblings in Congress, but the fact is he needs to be impeached. He has bypassed the other branches of government and he has broken the law. Honestly, our system is broken. Congress is a toothless tiger. This is big time serious..... I am off to the Inn. See you soon.

It is almost as if he made the plan without consulting the powers that acutally execute the service. Seems about right, don't you think?

Dear teaches,

I agree. His interests are elsewhere. He wanted to turn over healthcare to the government and he has succeeded. Please come to the Inn. I am saving you a seat.

Does Obama have the right to just out-and-out change the law? How can this happen? We live in very scary times. I'm glad I'm on my way out :)

Tom Schumacher profile image

Yeah, well politicians can say whatever they want and push legislation to effect any change they wish to see with regard to healthcare, however, nobody can force the free-market economy to respond in kind.

breakfastpop profile image

Good Morning vocalcoach,

No, Obama doesn't have the right to change the law. He should be impeached for this alone. Yes, we live in scary times. This isn't the America I grew up in. I'l see you at the Inn, where truth matters.

Good morning breakfastpop, couldn't agree with your assessment more. Some think Obamacare is the greatest thing since sliced bread never thinking of the consequences. One of my acquaintances recently told me he now has insurance, the first time in his life. I came close to unloading on him and telling him, insurance has always been available on the free market but it was not free. I wonder if his opinion will change when he sees his first premium bill and attempts using his new insurance at a physicians office or more importantly at a hospital. Our neighbors to the south have decided to chuck Obama care, in my opinion others will soon follow their initiative. Too many think this is a free ride but try explaining that to them, there ain't nothing free and don't get me started on the treatment or lack of it for Veterans. See ya at the inn, bringing shine!!!

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 2 years ago Author

Good Morning Fiddleman,

There is no such thing as a free ride. Having said that, just wait till the premiums for Obamacare start to skyrocket. The American people have been duped by a very hungry Obama Administration that wants to run our lives from cradle to grave. See you at the Inn. We need to catch up!

There is no rhyme or reason to the laws that are putting the American people in a place of bondage.

America the beautiful is declining just as other nations which have be obliterated by leadership who have shut their eyes and ears to 'we the people.'

Staying healthy and being informed of alternative methods of treatment is our best option. I have gotten off many meds and replaced them with supplements. My Doc. is bowled over by the improvement to my health.

Thanks for your faithful, easy to understand, entries on what's going on in our country. It's crazy as we head, at a breakneck speed, to a country with no more freedom.

There is to be a new Heaven and a New Earth - that is where I long to be forever.

Until then, we must not put our head in the sand and you dear lady have always been a faithful reporter.

Thank YOU!

Mekenzie

breakfastpop 2 years ago

Dear Mekenzie,

I say, let's get out collective heads out of the sand and fight for the things we believe in. We have to remind the so-called "powers that be" that we are in charge and that they work for us. See you at the Inn.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 2 years ago Author

Good Morning, Tom,

Sadly, this administration believes they can force the free market to respond by fining people and companies for non-compliance. After all, Obama clearly stated that the free market doesn't work! Sorry it took me so long to respond, but for some reason I wasn't notified that you commented.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 2 years ago Author

Dear Mekenzie,

I am so sorry my response was not immediate. I think my site has gone wacko!! One thing I wanted to add in response to your comment. Staying healthy is most important and trusting our own bodies is key. Part and parcel of this is having the freedom to see doctors that have our best interests at heart. Government cannot and must not decide that for us.
