honestly you can thank the bush family for that. all my life i loved the U.S. until the bush family took over. say what you will but bush has destroyed the respect the world had for the U.S.

Like most countries, there will be some factions that hate other countries, there will be some factions that love them, and the majority of the population is indifferent to them.  However, we do find that when a disaster happens in poorer countries, suddenly, the USA and the UK and the rest of the richer nations are the best thing since sliced bread, and we don't refuse to give aid, there is no childish, you don't like us so you can starve, freeze, whatever, we just help, and the repayment is bombs from lunatics, but we still help the next time, because we know that in the main, most people, whatever their colour or creed, are just people.

I don't know that it is hatred so much as it is misunderstanding. It takes on the same effect the rich in America experience because the have been successful...they are envied and that envy causes feels of mistrust and a sense that they have taken from you to get where they are...not necessarily the case but easy to feel that way. It becomes the justification of why you are where you are and why they are where they are. The same happens in the world. Many leaders in other countries encourage their people to despise America because they do not want them to think of emulating the American way...it would ruin their opportunity to steal.  America does a lot of good in the world. We give away a lot of money and a lot of aid.  We help in disasters and attempt to keep people from being consumed by unjust wars.  In doing so, we have to engage in some things that are less than desireable but that does not make us a bad people.  Unfortunately, perception too often becomes fact and the poor understanding that many on this planet have of us and our culture and history lends itself to being directed toward negative ends. Wayne , Has it right , we are not hated but envied , Our strengths are envied , our personal excesses despised. Our media ridiculed because of its sensationalism, and our aid in all forms , sucked up like a universal black hole. All in all, we reflect the worst in humanity. All comepletely out in the open for all to see.

The world does not envy you. And when you mention poor understanding of your culture. Your culture derives from the Old continent, that's where your ancestors are from so we all understand your culture all too well. I think most hatred comes from wars your government leads across the world. Many people say that your leaders have to stick their nose into everyone and everything. It is not about envy nor is it about power, it is about how US percieves itself as better than the rest of the world. Live and let live is how i live my life and i do not judge so i do not really care much for hatred, but as i stated above much of the world does. And as nightwork4 said, no-one spoke bad about U.S. until Bush family took over. The world sees decisions leaders make, they don't see the little people like you and me, who don't always represent what you see on TV.

The UNITEDSTATES is no longer controlled by principle but by corporations that don't have the people of the unitedstates at heart ,but their own. They control the media, the banks are at the top of the heap of control though, even more than the corporations that grew up around them.

We,didn't help the people of Iraq when we placed sanctions  on them or  North Korea when their womens babies were starving to death for lack of milk or,Africa when we gave them corn that was not fit for human consumption for their starving babies or even the Cuban people all because we expect their people to go against their governments ,but we don't expect the same from our own people do we!.

90% of Americans aren't hated. It's the top 10% that make the decisions that other countries hate. I'd bet that if you asked these 2 questions in this order, you'd take solice in the answers:

    1. Do you hate the American ruling class?
    2. Do you hate the average American?

The vast majority of foreign countries would say yes to the first and no to the second. They might even follow up with "we love the average American".

We mess around in foreign countries way more than necessary, and for that, they dislike us. Pretty much all of South America is the direct result of US influences for the last 200 years. The ones we don't like are the ones that stand up to our imperialism in favor of a true people's movement. We are the reason that Israel exists in the middle of the muslim world. We essentially took their land from them and gave it to Israelis following WW2. I'm not saying Israelis didn't deserve a place to live, but we did take it none-the-less. That creates enemies.

Jealousy is really far down on the list of reasons to not like America. Jealousy would cause most rational people to try and mimic us. Most of our enemies do not try to mimic us.

The U.S. was build on deception.corruption,self-righteousness,falsehood,idolatry and self made religions. It did not get here by putting God first.Only His name have been used, but the principals is from self agenda. That is enough for negative views from a spectators view.

Because they are envious of us, and the feelings are mutual. We don't have any love for them either. We know what time it is...
