Name the most pathetic display of cowardice in your local politics - does it top those weasel
Wisconsin absent senators that left the state? Gov. Walker warned 14 absent lawmakers return to the state Capitol who left Wisconsin to protest a proposal that would restrict the collective-bargaining rights of many public employees.
I don't know about cowardice and I don't have all the info about Wisconsin, but it seems to me it might be a lot like the Quarterback taking a knee at the end of the game not wanting to take the chance of the opponents getting a turnover and winning.
As with anything else it may have been simple strategy.
The governor and the majority in the legislature were trying to rush the bill to a vote without any debate or even knowledge of what was in it. They'd had no time to study it.
In order to vote on a budget bill, there has to be a quorum of twenty. There are nineteen Republicans in the state senate, so, without the Fab Fourteen Democrats, there could be no vote.
But, Walker's not the type to let a pesky little thing like democracy get in his way. Read about what happened last night, the evening of March 9, 2011 (Ash Wednesday).
Not simple strategy.
Simple democracy.
Most of the people of Wisconsin --- who, after all, are their constituents --- agree with and admire the Fab Fourteen.
They didn't leave the state to protest.
They don't take orders from the governor, but from the people who elected them.
Huntgoddess, you should check your facts before you make statements like that. To say that most of the people in Wisconsin are on the side of the fourteen dems that hightailed it out of here is a gross misstatement. Any reputable poll will show that overwhelmingly the state citizens disagree with them leaving their jobs. Even many that disapprove of the bill also disapprove of the senators failure to do their jobs. Who do you think is footing the bill for their vacation while they are in Chicago? Do you think they are staying at a Super 8 motel? We are broke as a state and fourteen of our senators are on vacation on our dollar while they are getting paid to do their job.
And quit talking like Governor Walker is such a terrible guy. Did you know that he has the power to fire all fourteen senators? Because they were called to the house floor, their job, they only have 48 hours to get their. once they passed the two week point, Gov. Walker could have simply fired them, but he didn't.
Walker is the weasul!!
this will ultimatly backfire badly.
I'm glad that the Republicans want to give away any credibility, because they suck bad! crushing public unions?? this is OUTRAGEOUS!!! did you see whats happening in Michigan, or do you agree with that too? they are trying to abolish the 17th amedment and corporatize local governments at a whim.
read my hub "wisconsin govenor abolishes collective bargaining, huge backlash expected"
I like to spread all these insane ideas around, just so middle of the rroad people can see what their preposterous ideas are like!!
let the loonies be heard I say, Because people will ultimatly reject a Koch brothers agenda. polls showed this happened fast in Wisconsin and nation wide, once people learned the specifics of what was happening....not just your average bargaining disagreement!! Walker wants to take it ALL away, I dont know how that makes you feel, but it pisses me and everybody I know who has half a concience. I don't need followers who are daffy, thanks.
ps: there is a reason we are not a country of dumb two dimensional redneck rightwingers, it is because when ideas like this have been proposed in the past they have been laughed at, out of hand.
the corporate types think THIS is a good time to bust unions???!!!!???!!! IN THE WORST ECONOMY SINCE THE THIRTIES!!! they have neither a heart nor a soul and a rather large silver stake needs to be driven through their puny non-existant hearts.

http://blog.heritage.org/2011/03/28/mor … crats-cut/This congress and this president have been completely irresponsible in producing a realistic budget. We are 1/4 into this year and still there hasn't been a vote on the budget for this year! The democrats refuse to cut anything in the hope...

Do you think people should have to display an understanding of politics before being allowed to voteI don't mean an in-depth understanding, just a basic one of how government works and what each party/candidate stands for.

I saw a video years ago, involving big banks and big business, along with corrupt, greedy politicians and how they destroyed Argentina in 2001. I posted the url: "Argentina's Economic Collapse":http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid … 817317115#Anyway, watching it made me see many...
