Do you think the world is safer now then it was just 50 years ago?
Has technology helped or harmed the situation?
The world is definitely safer today. Technology has had a part in that with more advanced healthcare, safer transportation, and more.
However I think the bigger factor is war and the way governments have changed - while wars still exist over the world, their scale is relatively small compared to what it was like 50 years ago.
In terms of government many if not most of the unfair governments have been abolished and the world is getting closer and closer to a complete democracy.
Well, 50 million people have been killed by government decree in the last century. The United States basically created terrorism due to the blowback from a flawed foreign policy. It's all going to Hell in a handbasket if you ask me. Every attempt to fix it at this point is just polishing brass on the Titanic; it's all going down. Infant mortality rates are still high, alcohol and tobacco kill hundreds of thousands annually, cars are slightly safer but still killing many...you tell me.
Exactly the opposite. It is more deadly. Terrorism. Pollution. Endangered species. It is not safe to have your children play outside unsupervised or let them walk to and from school. I played outside. I was too far away to walk to school, but I had classmates who did. And mom travelled around the world by herself 40 years ago-I wouldn't dream of travelling alone today. I would be too scared.
For every way it is safer, it is just as unsafe. Technology comes with a price and I would NEVER fully depend on technology for my protection. I prefer God to protect me
I rather like the old days even though Technology is not so advanced.
Imagine that we have created ourselves new problems with advancement in Technology.
Even though life is tough in the old days but we are happier as children are actively enjoying their childhood running around in the open. Imagine now children are glued onto the computers or TV instead.
