   A decade into the 21st century, China has already started to show signs that it is playing a much bigger and influential role in global affairs. As to whether it will dominate, that remains to be seen and it is still too early to tell. The potential is there definitely and it is obvious they also seek to do so, especially in the economic field. They are very aggressive in securing future stocks for their energy needs in order to keep sustaining their strong levels of growth.
   
   However, underneath all this economic growth and progress lies a dormant social volcano. There exists a growing gap in Chinese society between those stuck in poverty and those experiencing new-found wealth. It isn't very apparent but there are indications that social tensions are simmering under the surface. Key to this is how effective the Chinese government can keep its grip on society and prevent social unrest from snowballing.

   Edmund Burke said that "education is the cheap defense of nations" for a reason. China is about to monkey stomp the Western world as far as I can tell. The United States will be dethroned as it will have nothing to offer the rest of the world. All of the U.S. achievements of the last century can be credited to foreign scientists employed by the U.S. government. These scientists have no reason to flock to the United States anymore.

   Yes. The only thing stopping them is the fact that the US is a rogue military state that honors no treaties or international law and possesses a vast nuclear arsenal and drone aircraft. The American government loves war and money, while the American people are hopelessly ignorant and don't believe in science or education. Here's how historians centuries from now will probably see this: China was the leader of the world militarily, scientifically, and culturally for centuries prior to the 16th Century. At that time, the barbaric Portuguese came in from the west. The Spanish were trying to reach China by circling the globe from the east, but they ran into Central America. When the Portuguese grew weak and ran out of money in the 17th Century, the Dutch, English, and French came from the west and took control of the east Asian islands and ports from the Portuguese. English settlers on North America conquered their Western Hemispheric continent and set out for the Pacific Ocean and east Asia by 1898. They had defeated all of the ancient and far-eastern tribes of Comanche, Lakota, etc. By 1945, these Anglo-Americans had won control of the Pacific and east Asia. The British, French, and Dutch were gone from most of Asia by the 1960s. By the late 1970s, the Americans started losing their control as well. Now China is emerging to reclaim its old place in global supremacy after a hiatus of 500 years.
