IF it were done by first closing some of our more than 900 bases worldwide where our troops are currently stationed (which would instantly make plenty of troops available for border duty), then a few benefits are obvious:
1. The border could actually be secured.
2. Our soldiers would be serving their home country IN their home country FOR their home country.
3. The cost to maintain military units within the U.S. is considerably lower than the often profligate expense required to base them in other countries.
4. Those of us who live near the borders would no longer have to live in a war zone. (Believe me, we're in one now.)
There's more, but that's a start.
