    Why gandhian philosophies are still successful in today's world of war?

    Is it ? Is it being relevant and is it being followed ? Gandhiji propagated non-violence as a force of protest to fight against oppression. Then why do we have terror and war of terror ? Why do we have Guns ? Why are we seeing hatred among fellow human beings ? In the land of Gandhiji why are we seeing bomb blasts ?

    I am an Indian and am proud of what Gandhiji did to our nation and for the society as a whole through his movement. But I am sad that nobody is bothered about it nowadays. People who really matter does not seem to have an idea about it.

    Since Ghandi's strategies were narrowly-focused and meant to force political change, he was successful. This is still successful today because violent protest, as seen in London, can be bent by propagandists to make the protesters seem like villains. Martin Luther King knew this and his non-violent movement was successful. Although he was killed, he is revered by society and schools today for what he accomplished. The violent protests in Los Angeles in 1990 were quickly turned to make the black people look like monsters who wanted to destroy everything. The American unions lost a lot of their credibility in the late 19th-Century and early 20th Century because their protests had turned into out-and-out warfare. In such cases, the papers can magnify small incidents of senseless violence to turn public opinion against the protesters. Non-violent protest is the most successful method of protest.
