   How popular are writings about Africa here?
   
   I'm passionte about Africa and write articles, essays and books about the countries and people of the continent. I wrote a novel based on the true story of a Kenyan family who was disastrosly affected by the 1998 terrorist bombigsin Nairobi and Dar es Salaam. My editor t the publishing house that had published my first novel rejected the MSS with th remarks, "Books about Africa and Africans do not sell unless there's a European, preferably female, involved in the story." Woow!! Wish I had such hegemonic delusions!

   Well books about Africa doesn't sell is a relative term depending on the persons involved. There  are many African writers who published their books and made a lot of money and fame in it. I am sure there may be someone around desperately looking for talent like you to publish their work. I will help you find those that may be interested in publishing your books. I am beginning to realize that the believe that Africans don't like reading has become a general phenomenon.    I think they are resonably popular... I being a writer on Africa and issues surrounding the continent. However not on your level yet of books and all (but will surely do - soon). Just search Africa just like I did and found your hub! So yea... and will look out for your book:- ) best wishes....

   When your publisher says, books about Africa do not sell he is talking about comparisons with other books.
   Even here relative to other topics, Africa related hubs are less trafficked here, I am new here, but that is what I feel. I like writing about Africa and I have a few hubs about Africa, do read and comment on then when you have time.
   
   As I was saying relatively hubs about Africa do not do very well but if you are writing for the sake of writing, it shouldn't stop you from writing about Africa.

   Here at hubpages we are really open. I will follow you in hopes to see some of your work. But as for your book, I am also writing a book, fiction, and I think you should apply for as many publisher's as you can before giving up. Just remember to copyright.
