Italy’s new Prime Minister Mario Monti is a former EU commissioner, and Greece's new Prime Minister Lucas Papademos was a former vice president of the ECB. These new leaders are bankers and were not elected by popular vote.
Unquestionably Greece does which is a shame as it is the cradle of democracy. Unfortunately greed and power have robbed Greece of the very democracy they invented. It might interest you that the democracy that Greece invented lasted just 3 years and was destroyed by greed and power. Interesting turn of events.
As for Italy I can't say perhaps it is moving towards fascism.
