Over 10 years ago, the United States, together with Afghanistan's United Front, overthrew the Taliban government in Kabul. The cause for war was clear to the United States, and President Bush had the support of roughly 90% of America. That was long, long ago in a world far, far away.
Today, the war in Afghanistan is a controversial conflict, to say the least. Fewer than 50% of Americans support the continuing effort, and the mission in Afghanistan is cloudy at best. OBL is dead, as are 1,906 American Military service members. I think we should keep an extensive intelligence gathering capability in the region, but without putting our troops in harm's way inside the country of Afghanistan itself. I think, as far as having troops in Afghanistan, that the United States should end its involvement in Afghanistan now.
