Change opens a person up to the unknown. The unknown is an uncomfortable place to be. We as humans all settle in to our daily routines, our favorite restaurants, sources of entertainment, types of Jobs we do, etc... When we deviate from that which is our usual behavior it leaves us with a feeling of "being lost" and "disoriented".
If we looked at change as a challenge, an adventure we would be much better off! We would learn more, we wouldn't subject ourselves to boredom and we would enjoy the diverse wonders that this world has to offer us!
easy, it's efficient.
if people were okay with change all the time, we would live in a chaotic world. 80% of our lives are routine...if it wasn't it'd be inefficient.
i know this will probably be the one answer not being critical of people resistant to change...
Because human beings tend to adhere to status quo bias, in favor of sticking to whatever life we have in presence, without asking for a change, because we convince ourselves that the presence is foremost the better option. Propelling ourselves for a change is challenging, because changing means stepping out of our comfort zone. The more conventional, conservative individuals feel secured when living with daily routines, in which they can handle what comes next. On the contrary, the more adventrous, elastic individuals are susceptible to mold a change. Life is full of variables, the unknown. It's up to how flexible an individual can be, which varying from person to person.
Lacan theorized based on Freud’s ground work that people can only see and hear a small part of reality. Understanding this fact subconsciously, we feel inferior to the grander scheme of the world. When the world changes, it reinforces our senses in that we are not able to truly perceive and thus understand everything that we need too. So, consequently we feel scared.
It is part of human nature to want to control your environment. You need to survive, so having a reliable environment is very important. However, the world is much larger than you are and there is no way that you can see and feel everything. This causes you to be overwhelmed with your singleness.
People resist change because change can be scary. We are afraid of failing if we try something new.If we try something new, will it work better then the old way?We never know if we don't try.”Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change we seek.” President Obama.
Other people are use to us being a certain way and put you in a box ,so you don't want to get out of the box.Sometimes we are afraid to change because we care what people think. We shouldn't care.We need to live are life. Also people resist change because they are in a rut and it could be hard to get out of it.It is good to change for the better.Change are eating habits to be healthier.Change are workout habits by working out more.Change are work or school habits by not being late or working harder.etc
As we get older we are suppose to grow as a better person. You can change by writing down what you want to change or goals you want to accomplish. It's better to change now then put it off till tommorow and the next day.
I think it's part of human nature to search for solid ground. When you threaten or shake that perceived solidity, people start to panic.
I agree with Msvirgo about the fear of failure but I also believe some people are afraid of success.
"What if I start to really do well? Then people will hate me... Everyone will want something from me... I can't sit around and complain with everyone... They'll all RESENT ME!!!" and so on and so forth.
I have a friend who lets fear rule her choices. Her fear of change. I tell her, "courage doesn't mean we don't have fear. Courage is doing the thing in spite of the fear."

Do you believe the sovereignty of the United States is being eroded - diminished?I see my beloved country, the United States, eroding and being diminished. What disgusts me the most is that some of our own people are deeply involved in doing this. Can we come back from this? I'm not so sure. Why is...

From what I've read in the bible, we are to identify wrong behaviours and speak up but we are not to play judge because that makes us prideful and reluctant to take the beam out of our own eye. Many Christians insist that it is their duty to judge and they end up judging everyone about everything....
