Should America import oil from Canada's Oil Sands or The Middle East? Pick one.
Middle east for now until things go back and then Canada as they are a safe reserve.
Canada. Why pay money to an enemy when it can be given to a friend? But the real issue is why all federal lands, which is property owned by taxpayers, are off limits to oil exploration and extraction?
The oil companies pay a royalty to drill for oil on federal lands. Why does the government get to keep that money when in fact the federal lands are OWNED by the PEOPLE. Hence, all Americans should receive an annual royalty check from all federal lands that are producing gas, oil and coal and even timber.
The government has NO natural or legal right to those royalties, especially given the fact that the government is responsible for using the future labor production of Americans to borrow money against.
If you choose Canada, then you are going to come up short on the amount of oil you need. If you choose the Middle East, you are missing the opportunity to buy at least a portion of the needed oil from a friendly and neighboring country. So the answer is both. You buy as much as you can from Canada and buy the remainder from the Middle Eat.
Friendly Canada! If it is projected we may come up short, we need to find alternative ways to supply our necessary energy needs. Solar power, wind power, nuclear power, natural gas, and yes, maybe even drill in our own territory until we have the energy we need.
The ideal scenario would be if we are completely self sufficient, but in reality, that can't happen for a while. It takes much investment, time and research.
Dump the Mid-east...they have proven over and over again that they are not our friends.

The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 is a public law of the United States passed by the 104th Congress on October 23, 1995. The Act became law without a presidential signature on November 8, 1995. After 23 years we now have a president that will keep America's promise to Israel.

We've seen a lot of threads on the uprisings in Egypt and Libya that have spread throughout the Middle East/Asian Muslim population. There has been speculation: Is all this violence really about some schlocky, tasteless anti-Islam movie? Is it an indemnification of failed Obama administration...
