Do you think Wikipedia should place ads on their site?
Many volunteers spend hours writing and refining and maintaining the Wikipedia store of valuable information for us without pay. Should Wikipedia monetize their site with ad so that it can compensate some of the hard-working volunteers?
i like the policy of wikipedia to not place any sort of ads. non-profit organizations should stay away from such activities otherwise donors may stop donating. :-)
Absolutely! Wikipedia provides the world's most reliable free encyclopedia and has relied completely on donations.
We visit useless sites and load up ads by the dozens every day. We have to be fools to watch a valuable site like Wikipedia go down because we do not donate enough money to keep it going.
The only problem would come from advertisers who interfere with the freedom to publish content without commercial influence. But these days, public outrage over such scandal has power.

Ad's would ruin the clean and info based feel of Wikipedia.
I pray they keep doing it just for the love of the opensource movement.

i've mentioned this before, but i just checked my 84 articles and a huge number of them have ads for 'filipina girls', 'sexy singles', etc. my articles are about gradening, food, travel and family topics - there are even two ads for sex on my article about 'webkinz'! I emailed the help...
