Do you think Martin Luther King would be a friend to Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson?

Today marks the 44th anniversary of the assasination of Martin Luther King - a man of conviction.  Do you think Mr. King would approve of Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson's use of headlines to stir racial division and strife, or do you think MLK would think Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were availing opportunity to further civil rights?

I believe that King Jr. would not approve of either Sharpton or Jackson. Martin Luther King Jr., was interested in securing equal rights and that is all. He tried his best to rid the US of racism. Sharpton and Jackson on the other hand are using racism to make themselves rich, their only care for the average African American boy is if they present an opportunity to further their own wealth. These have become very influential men but instead of using that for good, they use it to further promote racism. They will receive pay or favors to provide a photo op to a politician who wants to be seen as non racist, instead they should be using that opportunity to convince the politician TO BE non racist. Martin Luther King Jr. was never about self, whereas Sharpton and Jackson are all about self and in my opinion do more to create racism than they do to eradicate it.

On the contrary, I think that MLK would have approved of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton as bringing attention to misjustice still prevalent in our society. Don't forget when Dr. King was alive he worked to find common ground between his non-violent style and people who had more drastic approaches to racial injustice like Malcolm X. He worked with SNCC, student non-violent coordinating committee with the firebrand Stokely Carmichael, whom I met, by the way. The group was also more radical than Dr. King and his programs. But they did get together on the concept that an enemy of my enemy is a friend of mine. We were all working for the same goal despite the variation in methods.

Dr. King probably would not have approved of the Black Panthers because  of their distinct distaste for non-violent protest. I do not see that concern in the politics and involvement of JJ or Al Sharpton.

    Yeah.  He was a socialist.

Fox would also go nuts on him.  They would attempt to marginalize him for holding "unamerican views."  That's their modus operandi though.  Yet, it's still terribly depressing to think about how low Fox has sunk.

    The answer is, yes.

If MLK were alive today, he and Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would be real close pals.

And that is because those three were cut from the same cloth -- which consists of their influencing and brainwashing black people to view themselves as "victims," rather than as individuals who possess all the resources needed to dramatically improve their status through unlimited black enterprise, capitalism and self-determination.

Jesse Jackson was an aide to Martin Luther King and he was with him when King was assassinated.

I do NOT believe that Al nor Jesse would have any public position,  if the great Dr
King was alive.  And if by chance they were public figures, their positions would be completely different.
