A life is a life and is sacred. The death penalty is not a way to stop crimes or an easy out for a criminal. It is state sanctioned murder. The state should not have the right to take life in any form that does not include the protection of the nation from attack.
The death penalty places a value on life which cannot be measure in take it because the criminal may not value life. I can think of no crime I would want to kill a person for that would make me feel the criminal's death satisfies my loss.
The death penalty is just a postponed abortion in my estimation. It seems that after a person has lived long enough to do things that we as a society do not like we can no kill that person. Life is worth an inmate sitting in a prison getting three meals a day for 60 years to me. I am willing to pay more taxes so that scum off the street can live. Life is to precious to take it away.
It is a miracle that should be cherished and protected. Those how do not respect life should be locked away and forced to life in confinement for that disrespect but not murdered.
As secular as the US is now, I would think it would have done away with the death penalty. If this life is all there is, then why waste a life.
It is the same with Abortion, kill them before birth or after 30 years of living is the same. No killing of life in any stage. Let life remain regardless of the way people feel about that life or what was done with the life or how the life will affect other's life.
