   What are the implications for Pres Obama now that healthcare reform has been dubbed a tax?
   
   On the campaign trail four years ago and since taking office, Mr. Obama has been fond of saying that middle-class families will not see their taxes rise “a single dime” under his leadership"- wonder if he'll stand by his word since it is deemed a tax now and repeal the law... Is he obligated to?

   Deny, deny, deny...that is what it will amount to in the end. He won't lose any of his current base as a result of it.  It might make it a little hard for him to gain cross over votes from those who were already opposed but that is not his focus in the first place.  He is after the entitlement crowd, minorities, unions, etc.  Few, if any, in that group will abandon him because too many of them expect to get the insurance coverage free anyway. Th gut punch goes to the middle-class...that same group of folks who wishes out loud all the time that he wants to help...smoke and mirrors, simply smoke and mirrors. WB

   Now the already over-reaching federal bohemoth can justify anything with a tax...a special kind of tax...a tax on INACTIVITY.  Previously we were only taxed (and over taxed at that) on things we did or purchased, but now we will be taxed on what we DON'T do or purchase.  This could be used for a myriad of intrusive big brother, nanny state issues. 
   "Oh, you didn't purchase a "smart" car? That'll be a tax (read penalty) for you."
   "Oh, you didn't join a gym to get healthier for Obamacare? Here's your tax."
   "Oh, you didn't eat your broccoli? Have I got a tax for you."
   Kinda funny...but, you know the government just loves to incrementally increase everything it does until it envelopes whole industries.

      Indeed; it's a slippery slope to tyranny if you ask me.  Where exactly will this end?  If we look to history for the answer:  it won't.  Give them an inch, they'll take a mile.  People need to wake up and smell the fascism.

   Actually, taxes didn't rise by "a single dime"...they rose by a whole lot more, so technically, he kept his promise.  Expect more of the same.

   Beginning in 2014, the federal government will impose new fines on citizens and legal residents who do not obtain government-approved insurance. Those without insurance will pay a tax that is the greater of a flat fee, or a percentage of family income. The flat fee will be phased in over several years. In 2014, the penalty will be $95 per adult in an uninsured household, increasing to $325 in 2015, then to $695 in 2016, after which it will increase annually in line with consumer inflation. For uninsured children, the fine will be half the amount applied to uninsured adults. If greater, households pay 1 percent of their income in 2014, 2 percent in 2015, and 2.5 percent in 2016 and thereafter in lieu of the flat per person fee.

   I think it's the best thing that could have happened for him because it means there won't be problems funding the AHCA.  There is no free lunch and people know this....besides, it's less expensive to pay extra taxes than it is to pay for the health care of people who don't buy their own insurance.
