Can you list two things Obama has done to better your life?

Clinton passes Family medical Leave Act (FMLA) which was very beneficial to women especially...in his first term. George Bush Jr. declared war on the bastards that bombed us...in his first term. What has Obama done? Why would anybody re-elect him?

Lower taxes and less regulation are what the Pre Obama administration did.  That ended pretty well don't you think?
The truth is, any time I hear less regulation of big business, I think, This office is now available to the highest bidder.

More government/ regulation are working superbly in other countries, dont you think? Bailing out the banks helped so many people too. Helped me get  a house cause someone else foreclosed. YAY!

Works well for Germany.  Ditto for China who we actually borrow more money from than any other nation.

Banks got bailed out because Glass Steagall's repeal allowed them to merge traditional banking with brokerages.  Too big to fail was the result.

    Just two...

    1) Obama actually KILLED the individual that masterminded the 9/11 attacks.

    2) Obama has also cut the payroll tax rate which has resulted in more middle class working families having more money in their pockets.

    For extra credit:

    3) Nonfarm payroll employment has grown positively for 22 straight months.

    4) The stock market has not only rebounded to its previous levels, it is also now trading at levels not seen since 2007.

    More extra credit:

    5) Student loan reform

    6) Withdrew troops from Iraq

    For even more extra credit:

    7) Increased Pell Grant awards for college students

    8) Obamacare:  Ironically enough, the most controversial provision of Obamacare was originally a conservative idea.

For additional even more extra credit:

    9) Responsibly supported the regime change in Libya without committing any American boots to the ground.

    10) Pretty much made the number 2 position in Al Queda the worst spot to be in the organization.

#1 quit trying to be a teacher's pet. What has he done for your life? Not your grandma, kid next door, but you. My student loans 100% intact. Obama did not actually kill Bin Laden. Are you on non-farm payroll? Are you a college student?

First off.  The question is: What has Obama done?

      I answered that.

Yes I am on non farm payroll.  My taxes are lower under this administration.  And while Obama didn't pull the trigger, he made the call.  If it went bad, he'd be blamed.

The Dow opened at 8279.63 on January 20, 2009. Today it closed at 13,333.35.  If Dow had LOST over 5000 points under his leadership, I'm sure one of the Obama detractors here would have mentioned it.  Yet  he gets no credit for its rise?

I can't think of anything.  He has been the worst President in my lifetime.  I guess if you want to turn the US into a Euro-like country, then he is a good guy.  But for me, he is far too much of a socialist.  I had issues with Bush because of his fiscal policies...this guy is a train wreck!  I had hoped he would repeal the Patriot Act because he had been so vocal against it as a Senator.  However, he strengthened it...I guess it's not a bad law when you are the guy in charge.
Even though I am no fan of Romney, it will be a welcome relief when President Obama looses in November.

Everything mentioned above does, in fact, impact each American's life in a positive way, contrary to what you stated isetti.  Personally, as a senior citizen, I can say that Obama has saved me thousands of dollars through his enhancements of Medicare and has also given me some peace of mind because he is actually taking specific and very clear steps to protect and save it.  As a woman, I also have been impacted by the very fact that he stands up for my personal rights.  There's more, but this is just an answer to a question, so it will have to suffice.

    1. izettl profile image87

Everything does not impact EVERY American positively. I bought a house because of others misfortune this year. that's not improvement. Didn't like Cost of living freeze (elderly didn't either) or freeze my government employee husband's wages for 2yrs

    2. bworthington profile image59

The SSI freeze is tied to the CPI, which includes housing.  Since housing prices dropped it pulled down the price of the index.

That's irony that you husband on the government payroll didn't get a wage increase.  That would increase gov spending.

Great question, and I honestly can't think of a single thing he has done to better my life.  For the first time ever I see our great country heading completely down the wrong path.  I am actually glad I am old enough I will most likely not live long enough to see the final results of some of the actions of this poor excuse for a President.
Spending my life in various Corporate jobs and owning and running several small business ventures has made me a results oriented guy.  No matter how much time, money, and effort is put into anything, if the results aren't positive it was a failure.  Even though the intentions were good, we have seen a long string of total failures costing this country money and jobs.  It seems that long term results were often overlooked when applying temporary fixes to current problems.  Many business managers have gone up in flames for not paying attention to the long term results of decisions they have made.
I see an administration who has worked hard to make as many citizens as possible dependent on government handouts, divide this country by class, race, religion, make us even more dependent on foreign oil, and virtually destroyed what was left of our economy.
If Obamacare is a good thing, why were labor unions, corporations, all Politicians, and many individuals granted waivers from Obamacare?  If it was a good thing why would anyone not want to join the program?
Those who love "Entitlements" have learned to love this President and his administration.  Those who believe the European way is better also love this President.
Bottom line, I can't think of even one small thing that has made my life better under this administration.

    1.  Health care reform (I've already seen substantial improvements in my health care options, benefits and costs as a result-- senior citizens have seen the Medicare prescription drug benefit donut hole closed, saving them billions).

    2.  Ending the systematic and almost gleeful application of torture (see Cheney, Dick) restores a lot of my pride in being an American.  If the GOP had allowed him to close Guantanamo, it would have been even better.

    3.  Increase in college loan assistance in the form of Pell Grants and cutting out the for-profit middleman on student loans (I work for a college, so I've seen its effect).

    4.  Watching the Republican party (who once tried to stifle dissent against a previous President by appealing to "respect for the office") try to come up with increasingly bizarre and brazenly disrespectful slurs against him, such as "Kenyan Muslim Socialist," and shouting "You Lie!" at the President of the United States in joint sessions of Congress.  Awesome!

Honestly, I think this is a biased question. From your comments on other comments, and the way this question is presented, it seems that this was asked not to get an honest opinion, but to argue with anyone that supports the President. And I know for a fact that there are PLENTY of people, websites, and information that you could find that would gladly support your position against him. Also, when you ask a question like this, you're going to get biased answers regardless. Those adamantly against will speak just as those dedicated supporters. Regardless of what you believe, there are people that have benefited from the President's policies and decisions, and there have been people that haven't. It's the way the world works. Not everyone will benefit from any president no matter who it is. But to get to your question, I can give you two reasons I'm voting for Obama, and two reasons I'm not voting for Romney.

    Voting for Obama:
    1. As a recent college graduate, I have student loan debt. Obama has increased money for Pell grants, and has based monthly loan payments on your salary, so that you can afford to pay the loans back.

    2. Jobs have actually increased since Obama has been in office. And I've been able to find work since graduating last year. Has the job market increased to our standards as a country? Not yet, but at least it's moving in the right direction.

Trust me, I could give you more reasons, but you only asked for two.

Why I'm not voting for Romney:
    1. Romney wants to cut funding for Pell Grants and increase the student interest rates on loans. And I personally feel that it's unfair that people who want to go to college can't go simply because they can't afford it.

    2. Paul Ryan. I think he's a good guy and attractive. But when he gave his speech at the RNC, and blatantly lied repeatedly, his credibility was ruined for me. There were fact checkers that pulled his speech apart. And I honestly feel like if Obama is that bad of a president as they claim, they should have NO problem providing factual information to support their position.

I'm sure my comment will be pulled apart in one direction or the other. But it's not about agreeing/disagreeing with my opinion, it's about looking up factual information and using that to pick our President in November. So instead of focusing on how to pull one guy down versus the other, spend time checking the facts and plans, and making the decision for yourself.

I'm non-partisan, but just trying to put out facts as people comment. if he doesn't do his job then fired- thats real world. truly was curious why people will vote for him. u have to make next to nothing to get a pell grant, not for young either

    2. ssmith1534 profile image69
ssmith1534posted 11 years agoin reply to this

Exactly, students that work hard, make good grades, and have been accepted into college and want to go should have the opportunity. So if that means they qualify for a Pell Grant, then the President has done his job.

    3. izettl profile image87
izettlposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Pell grants go off parent's income until youth is 22. My parents didn't pay for my college but made too much for me to qualify. I had to wait. no it's not for kids coming out of h.s unless very poor parents and many dont graduate h.s & bad grades

I've been in one industry all my life.  I've done well, but it's not what I wanted to be when I grew up.  When the housing market crashed., I found myself broke.  Soon the health care bill got rammed down our throats, then it was one thing after another as our president systematically did his best to undermine the Constitution of the United States.  Thanks to Barack Obama, instead of going back into the business I knew, I started the Housefire Project.  Me and about 6 million other people are going to make it very difficult for the thieving, narcissistic clowns who are supposed to be looking out for us.  Thanks to Mr. Obama I will finally do something that counts.  Thanks for the oppertunity to pimp my organization, sis.  I won't leave a link because I don't know if it's allowed.  If it is, give me a plug.  BTW ... Thanks for the great plugs you've given me in the past!

Oh crap.  I just saw the pro Obama comments.  Come on.  The positive things listed by these people, even if they stood up,which they don't ... that's what we got for 6 trillion dollars??  You're good with that?  Good grief!

When will people realize that it doesn't matter who you put in the office someone somewhere will have something bad to say lol DIdn't Clinton also pass free trade with China lol Yeah that was a dumb move. And when does your vote matter anyway? If everyone in the state voted for one of the candidates but when it came to the electoral votes they choose how they want to vote for that state, so your vote really isn't a vote it's more of an opinion. And you're trying to say that what George Bush was so great because he declared war? Are you really that naive to think that any other president wouldn't have done the same thing? What you dont think about is that George Bush gained an a great amount of money by going to war. Seeing how he owned his own oil company, and one of his buddies owned the military's equipment contract. Let me tell you he was really looking out for all of us wasn't he. Let's say we handed you presidency what would you be able to do that is so much better? Look at what Obama had to deal with when he became elected, he had to handle someone elses mess first before he could even start. That's like saying hey kids you can go play basketball and then give them a ball with a big hole in it. I dont care for either of the candidates but I can tell you Romney won't do any better than Obama can do. I was in the military and we cared less than what other people do about who is president, because it doesnt matter. Even if the president was the best guy in the world and had a heart of gold wouldnt mean nothing. He's not a king where he can say well this bill is passed and this one isn't. Sometimes he can but usually its up to the supreme court and all the rest of them. If you want to start somewhere to change you should prolly change that first. What happens if Romney gets voted in and your life just all of a sudden gets so much better, but then we go into a depression for 10 years? Well as long as youre ok then everythings good right? If you want stuff like that to change that single you out as a person then you need to change your thinking. The only thing that will change your life is the way you think and god of course. Change your thoughts and you change your life. If you keep thinking all this bad stuff about yourself youre never going to get anywhere, what about in other countries where they dont even get a chance to speak their mind? And if they did they'd be shot. Issues start with the person people see in the mirror every morning.

No, I can only list one thing Obama has done to better my life.

By his corruption and lying, he has woken me up!

Four years ago, I believed the silver-tongued devil and his sweet rhetoric. He is good! He can sell snow to an Eskimo.

Obama works for the Corporate Party that is dismantling America. The Corporate Party runs the media, so anything you hear comes through them -- the good and the bad. But the apparent "bad" is merely spin to help keep us divided and not looking at the real source of today's problems. Just follow the money.

Obama is their spokesperson -- the temporary figurehead to the new Hitler 2.0.

And as far as Bush Jr. declaring war on the "the bastards that bombed us," the real shocker I learned last year is that Bush and his thugs are the bastards that bombed us. Osama Bin Laden, admittedly guilty of so many terrorists acts, said immediately after 9/11 that he didn't do it. Most terrorists would want to take credit for such a big coup! He didn't. Was he telling the truth? If so, who really did it? Even the FBI doesn't have 9/11 down as one of Bin Laden's crimes, because they "don't have enough evidence." But guess who was having a meeting with the Bin Laden family on 9/11 -- George Bush, Sr.
