Do you think the rest of the world is watching the 2012 U.S. Presidential campaign?

I'm wondering how much of an impact our election year will prompt the interest of individuals in other countries...

Idk, I bet it pulls in a lot of views from all over the world but I'm not sure how other countries look at it. Would be kinda neat to know.

I'm sure they are. Many concerned if Romney is elected, given his foreign policy or lack of foreign policy knowledge.

I agree, movingout.  Romney does not seem to have the understanding that Obama has and I don't think it is b/c O was in office and has more experience.

Interesting...I hadn't even considered the Americans in foreign countries who may be trying to follow the news.  smile

Being your nearest neighbor, we in Canada are very much aware of America, but I suspect interest in the U.S. campaign is not on most Canadians minds. It all seems like overblown posturing, is too complicated and drawn out.
Compare that to our 8-week federal elections..that's it. Including two debates. Saves a whole whack of money too.

Hi, Denise! I'm from Canada and you're probably aware i'm loud and proud about my feeling and thoughts on the US election process and it's candidates..I have lived in the states twice - once when i was just 14 and moved there alone to live in a dorm to train 6/hrs/day in gymnastics - and have traveled to probably 42 states - including alaska, hawaii, AND peurto rico...lol
I know FAR more about your country than mine - and my political pieces draw comments from Americans - who supposedly know what they're talking about...lol..
My Canadian friends  think my stork was drunk - and dropped me in the wrong country...lol..

LOL  Lesley, you never fail to make me chuckle.  I love your political comments, as well as your other views (and humor).

Since Obama and Romney appear to be the same, why would the world be focused on their tribulations. The middle east knows that both represent a danger to their sovereignty, China knows that they will both covet its China sea, Southern America will be on the lookout since two democartically elected presidents were overthrown by the US ...

Romney agrees today. But given his record of changing positions, God only knows what he'll do!

Raised in the US but having German citizenship i am an insider and outsider. Just came back to Germany from a business trip to Kazan, Russia. Overall it was 5 hours of flight time and i used some leasure time to read international newspapers. It was just after the 3rd debate and papers were full of that. Most articles showed some irritation on how little educated both candidates were in foreign affairs. Another puzzlement was about the lack of real long term strategic planning.
As one German paper put it: It is like a crop field with foul water on it. One candidate tries to solve the issue by pouring fresh water over the land, the other candidate is trying to dry up the land. Both solutions will end in a bad harvest and none of them is thinking about irrigation, building dams, in others words: ending the laissez faire policy.
There is a general uneasiness in Europe about the Presidential campaign. Another 2 or 3 presidents of the O. or R. calibre and the US has had it. The only number that is growing is population. The rest will stagnate at best and US influence on world politics and economy will decrease. The last sentences were my own and not cited from a newspaper.

Chris-thanks so much for sharing your views.  This is what I had hoped to hear...what I have been really curious about.

I assure you that we in the the UK are watching the US elections. European countries are doing the same. What happens in the US has a great effect on all of us. A weak President would be a catastrophe for the west, as well as the US. Western society is under threat, a strong President is essential.
    Graham.
