Do you agree with Bill O'Reilly?
On election night, Bill O'Reilly said that the white establishment was now the minority in America and that the people who voted for President Obama want stuff. Specifically, he cited latino people, black people, and women. One can easily interpret what he said as this: "when whites were the majority, the majority didn't want stuff from the government. Now that the whites are the minority, the majority wants stuff from the government." Do you agree with this statement?
No...In my opinion, that statement was idiotic and almost offensive...To assume that people voted for Obama because "they want free stuff" as opposed to agreeing with him on certain issues is ridiculous. There are people like that in the world, but I guarantee they are too lazy to vote.
Absolutely not. There is little, if any, validity in anything that comes out of the mouth of Bill O'Reilly. He lives in his own little warped reality and causes more problems for society than he offers logical solutions for.
First of all, whites are not the minority in America by a long shot. However, it hardly even debateable anymore. There is a huge segement of the electorate that wants a european style socialist democracy. The Obama administration panders to minorities like nothing I have ever seen before. Joe Biden going to Black churches telling parishoners that they'll be put back in chains. It's dispicable. Yet the "Free Stuff" is not just about minorities. It's about Free Birth control, Free Health Care and whatever else they dream up to any group they can carve out of the electorate to convince them of how much they need the Gov't to give them things.
For Example...Years ago getting onto things like SSDI was extremely difficult. Yet over the last four years SSDI enrollment has miraculously become much easier. Enrollment is up by nearly triple. So are we supposed to believe that all of a sudden the US just became disabled ??? In reality there are lawyers setting up shop now in low income areas and marketing to people who's unemployement has run out to get on SSDI. What's one of the # 1 reason the last few years for SSDI enrollments increase...Obesity !!! All of a sudden being overweight is not a reason for a lifestyle change...Instead it means you are permanently disabled and a ward of the state. This is the entitlement state. And it's insulting to those who are really disabled. This is just one example of making it even easier to abuse the system. Which is what the so called "establishment" is disgusted with.
Unfortunately for Americans, over the next decade or so they will learn a very tough lesson in economics that the Europeans are learning at the current moment. Free Stuff...Is very, very expensive.
"You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves" – Abraham Lincoln
No, Bill O'Reilly is off the mark again. The American economy was at it's best in the 50's and 60's and early 70's when the New Deal and Labor Unions were going strong. Why? Because Americans were in the same boat and rose and fell together. Starting in the early 80's conservative ideas have pushed us apart creating a income gap, a smaller middle class, and a economy that is barely growing. We have a consumer economy and the consumers have very little money to spend. We need to all climb back into the American boat and use the best ideas, those that serve all of us.
??? The New Deal was an economic disaster. 10 years into the New Deal the country entered a depression within a depression. As was the 70's, with the famed misery index. The immediate aftermath of WW2 the US has no competition. Europe was in Rubble
The New Deal was started in a depression caused by deregulation and it took forever to get things going again. Sound familar?
No actually it doesnt. Do some homework on the 1920-21 depression. Way worse than 1929, no New Deal policies and it ended in 18 months. And a lack of regualtion was not the cause of 2008.It was GSE's subsidising the MBS market and distorting markets
