How are you going to make a difference in the coming year?
So... I'm thinking about giving something back to the world for 2013. I'm going to be publishing a series of hubs publicising charitable organisations and how to get involved (the first of which is up now) but this is too passive. I want to personally do something that is going to have an impact locally. Any suggestions?
I will continue to do whatever i have been doing this year and previous years and that is : to continue being of service to people in anyway ,I can. Be it small or big. " How may I Serve?" Is my self proclaimed purpose and i hope to improve my performance in this department next year and even the coming years.By serving others, doing random acts of kindness to people who have been marginalized and have been forgotten by society I feel content and It gives me a sense of fulfillment. My will is that God grant me the courage to continue this job as long as He allows me to do it .
Good on you, sir! I like the sound of all of that! Keep up the good works and peace be with you and yours
Thanks Dan, just my little way of making this world a little bit better.Merry Christmas to you. Nice profile by the way.
I am striving to be a better person each day of my life. This is not an easy process. I take it minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day. Hopefully at the end of my years here on this earth people can say "He was a fine Christian man" and smile when they mention my name. Great question Dan. Many blessings!
Good to hear it JThomp42. Someone once told me that every person's life is their project - every action we take is another page in the portfolio of our existence. One day that portfolio may go on display - I wanna be proud of mine.
Hi Dan I like this question of yours. How am I going to make a difference in 2013. I think I would like to continue practicing kindness and patience, love and peace daily wherever possible. Whatever happens I still need to feel love for my fellow man and will do my best to practice these values whatever situations and problems present themselves in 2013.
Great to hear it Safiq! I'm sure you'll find that the more love you give out - the more comes back your way. The ripple effect from every act of kindness is incalculable!
I will keep on doing what I have always done. The significance of a new year is lost on those who make a conscientious effort to live right each and every day...year in and year out.
You have the right idea in that every day should be lived conscientiously. What I am asking though - is what more you will do? How will you go above and beyond?
I guess one can always do more, but that will begin cutting into my sleep schedule. :0)
Lol - I know what you mean! I'm trying to think like an economist. I'm looking for "efficiency savings" in my time
I recently heard a term that is my new mantra - Stop for the one. It is about focusing on the individual lives you can impact and caring enough for each individual life to do what you can to make a difference for them. It is easy for me to get overwhelmed by the amount of need in the world and feel helpless. This phrase reminds me that if just one person is touched by something I do, that makes it worth it.
I love it that you are making the effort to reach out and help others. Keep on inspiring us all!
This is a wonderful and practical sentiment! I applaud this good common sense approach to making a difference. Every one person you help is affected by kindness, and the ripple effect of their reaction spreads positivity throughout the world.
Volunteering for Boy Scouts and American Heritage Girls to help my kids' troops. It helps the troops, the kids enjoy it and the other children benefit as well.
Sound's like a worthy cause! Great to hear from you!

Okay, if God does not give you more than you can handle, why is my plate overflowing?

I don't know about you, but I am so tired of reading or hearing of all the bad news going on in this world. Surely, there is some good news out there in the world! If you've read of something good, inspirational, positive, heartwarming, humans being kind to one another ...anything good,...

I mean like a real job. Something in the private sector. Jobs that don't have "foundation" or "community organizer" in the title anywhere.

I read this hub and it gave me an idea for another. This particular hub was based on what I have read from other people who are gay and trying to come out. They seem to blame their situations or just feel very embarrassed or scared (which is just natural I suppose.) But I feel...
