Should the FBI be able to see your emails in real-time?
it is invasion of privacy. I say no and don't let the Bush era keep you in fear. WMDs were lies to make you afraid. North Korea could be as well. A crime will happen if a criminal wants it to w/o email. Low tech, (Osama) went on for 10+ years. [ Update: Darn, they are probably monitoring this msg..ah the hell with it ]
I agree that it is an invasion of privacy. I know it is a matter of national security but when is big brother going to back off? I say no, it is not ok for the FBI to be able to see you emails unless a court order has been granted.
I don't really care. There is so much information out there that they can't possibly be smart enough or have the technology to process it all. Even so, they only keep anything to blackmail you with if you plan to run for political office or become famous. FBI's been doing that since the beginning. The funny thing is the bureau has basically turned into our own order of the Knights Templar. Entry into its service is so strict that you have to basically be a virgin teetotaler who never swears or misses a day of church. As a result its ranks are full of hardcore fundamentalist Christians or Opus Dei Catholics.
If you keep allowing them more power it'll become a dictatorship. There has to be a landmark decision to stop this. Fear cannot override freedom.
