Do you think numbers play an important role in our life?

Since childhood, from school to office then job and even here on hubpages we all are chasing numbers how important they are?

Numbers are a tool--maybe the best tool humanity has for discerning truth.  So they are very important, in general.  And some, of course, wield numbers with virtuoso skill, yielding the most amazing results--unexpected truths, or the creation of other tools, both of which, taken together, have done much to transform nearly everyone's life from what it would have been otherwise.

But not everybody needs them in their individual lives, of course, so for them numbers may have much less significance--just grades in school, money in the bank, or perhaps Hubpages followers.

Unfortunately Deepak, life is a numbers game for various reasons. To get where you want to be and what you want you have to go through the numbers. A bit like 'if at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again.
Now you've done it, I can feel a hub coming on......Thanks!

Everything is about number. So yes it is very important in our life.  In our life travel we often have number of choices that we need to make smile

Deepak, Clearly numbers do have an important role in our lives.  Our age is a number. Numbers identify us when they appear on credit, social security and membership cards.  Right now I am working very hard to create an opportunity for myself to retire, at least partially.  That means that at this point in my life, the most important numbers are those following a dollar $ign.  Yes, numbers quantify the universe as a whole and in its particulars, including our days.

Yes, after I gave it a lot of thought I think five kids were enough.

The only numbers that play an important role in anyone's life are the numbers on their paychecks versus the numbers of their bills.
Oh, yes, and keeping track of the numbers of your current age, so you can decide exactly when to retire.

Perhaps numbers are a gauge of one's success or failure in life - the more numbers you are lucky enough to come up with,  the more money you get to have - that is if success is counted in money!!

Are you kidding? Try gauging the weather, paying for groceries, collecting a paycheck, remembering your Mom's birthday, knowing when you'll reach Nashville, avoiding a speeding ticket, staying on that diet, achieving a college degree, mixing a great cocktail, or whatever else you might pursue in life without numbers. (Let alone landing a probe on Mars, controlling the rise in health care costs, dealing with immigration, constructing a high-rise, making an elevator safe, developing a new cancer drug, creating an iPhone app, or revamping the tax code, etc.) One might even say that numbers are mankind's greatest mental construction! The key is to find ever newer ways numbers can help your life and those of others. [My daughter is a research engineer applying numbers constantly to do just that.]

Existence wouldn't be possible in the first place without numbers.

I like the positive numbers in my bank balance to keep rising - ever an indicator of success!

Well of course that is why were studying math. Even paying your bills or counting money were using numbers.
