   What is your opinion of the Senate keeping their Tax Reform Wishes Secret—for 50 Years?
   
   The latest attempt at cover-up has begun. The Senate is voting to keep their tax reform input secret for 50 yrs. It seems that your senators believe that secrecy of this is quite normal. Besides, if    they tell the public what they are going to suggest, then they would have to deal with the true spirit of the republic.  Do you think it is time for the citizens to demand control of the tax system? Do you believe that a consumption tax of 1% on everyone including all business to business purchases is needed? Do you believe the Senate is acting just like the King that generated the revolution?

      If you are not sure which Senate - then your opinion would be based on all Senates unless you researched the Senate that is attempting to keep their Tax Reform Wishes Secret—for 50 Years.

   We have truly reached a point in our history where choices are clear. The United States can no longer spend the kind of money it has for years by creating money and never-ending debt. What we are seeing is the conflict between denial and reality. How many times have you heard politicians say, "But we can't afford not to" when referring to a new program to help powerful constituencies. Reality is, "we can afford not to, indeed we must not spend more deficit dollars." Even the liberals in congress see this. So, by hiding their decision on taxes for 50 years they protect themselves from criticism. Onthe other hand, a representative who wants to vote for taxes from a Tea Party state also runs free. Nobody wants a budget deficit, but nobody wants to cut spending. Hmm.. In my opinion, it is more than likely the left wants to vote for increased taxes AND CUTS in spending because even they can see that we are facing debt downgrades, government shut downs, and inflation or deflation; something they say we haven't seen today. Once Mr Bernanke stops funding the economy with cheap money, what is left to grow it? Hence, the nasty little reality that politicians love to avoid (oh, I want to give some names, but won't) is at the doorstep. How can you bring your representative to task if you can't see his vote for 50 years? Yes, sir. That is where we are. But once reality is acknowledged, there is room to move toward a new economy based on creating what the world wants, thus creating jobs, and avoiding the pitfalls of financing everything on the shoulders of a relative few. Yes, I think we need a 1% consumption tax at the national level - in theory there should be no finagling it - but within a short time there will be those who want to bugger up the system by allowing some a smaller consumption tax than others. You don't think so - watch.
   Another example of this is the sequester. The guiding opinion on it is that President Obama when proposing it at first didn't think anybody would allow it to take effect. Give me a break. With all the House of Representatives and a really big chunk of the Tea Party bent, Mr. Obama didn't think there would be a sequester? I believe he knew perfectly well there would be an effected one, and that is why he  suggested it when we had the last budget fiasco. He knows we have to cut spending. He knows it, but his constituency requires that the president hold out hope of increased spending. Another case of denial warping
   to reality. Flat tax.

      Search for the TRUE TAX and you will find the best solution that citizens could provide. The citizens must demand a True Fair Tax of 1% on all consumption. This will provide revenue and also an earning to be given back to the citizens. The FAIREST.

      yes, with a 1% consumption tax on everything, we would generate more revenue.  We would also operate like a business and could return the excess to those hard workers that made the goods.

   My opinion is that keeping tax reform secret stinks.  These congressmen are interested in one thing and one thing only - to get re-elected and keep their own personal standard of living continuing.  They have it good in Washington and they are more interested in their own personal lives, income and jobs rather that doing what is good for the country in the long term. 
   
   I believe we, as a country, are doomed forever and we are destroying ourselves from within with all this secrecy that is going on in our government today.  The public is going to wake up too late one day and realize we have a government like those in S. America, the Middle East, and Asia - where there is no transparency or basic freedoms anymore.  Too much of our government is going on behind closed doors, the public is too busy trying to survive and maintain their own standard of living and no one is protesting all this secrecy.  I don't honestly know what it is going to take to turn this country around if that is even possible in this day and age.

   I think it's about time for them to tell the public what their tax incentives are, and to release the guilt they have pinned on us. They should also forgive us for trying to read their minds to know the truth of their intentions.

   I think a 1% tax on everything would be much preferable then how the system is now. As for keeping what they are talking about secret for 50 years then my first question would be Why??? What are they trying to hide.

      They want to hide the unfair tax rules that they will vote for. Basically, they want to keep the public from knowing the bad rules they will employ.

   That should not be legal. Politicians should not be able to hide anything from the people who put them in office. Citizens accepting ideas like that one is how we got into this mess to begin with. A consumption tax is likely a good idea, but it is only a small morsel of what is needed to stop our economy from collapsing in a few years. Stopping illegals and corporations from stealing our money and sending it over seas would have a huge impact, as well as cutting the fat from local governments. Cops don't need new cars every year and court houses don't need to cost 50 million dollars in order to protect the people. Those in control of this nation at every level have forgotten who they have sworn to protect, and act against the well being of our communities and children. And FYI, it has nothing, and I mean nothing, to do with the President. He's being persecuted for trying to stop this clown show, which has been common since long before he was even born. Here's a hint. Make every politician live like a reality tv star. Every waking moment should be captured on video. I believe that is the only way we will ever be safe again.

      President Obama has hidden more information about himself than most of the previous Presidents. He has caused this to be happening by setting such a bad example. We need a Constitutional amendment stating when in office all information is public.

    We do have control of the tax system. It's called a vote. Considering the crap job we do electing officials, what makes you think we'd do any different or better with direct control?
    
    As for Senators and secrets, it isn't something that is required. it is just being offered. If a Senator decides to be secret about it, and that peeves you, than the simple solution is to not vote for them in the future, and/or to contact them now and express your concerns.
    
    In this case, I don't think the secrets are to protect them from us, I think it is more to protect themselves from being attacked by special interest groups, but then, that monster is of their own making and I have little sympathy for them.

       Sorry-but the voters do not have control of the tax system. It is controlled by a Congress that is controlled by special interests. To alleviate this, the voters need to rally to create a single consumption tax-no exceptions, no deductions. FAIREST
