Many of us marvel at what has become of this country. How did we allow Corporations to take over?
So many of us remember a time when people mattered, workers mattered, and you didn't work 2 jobs to live in poverty!
We allowed it. We were silent and bullied into complacency. We don't have to leave this legacy for our kids.....start by voting them out.

We can not blame the change totally on big business. Look at the title on the article in your picture. A vote was involved.
We also allowed the power-oriented politicians to redefine their role as rulers rather than representatives. They are the majority right now, and sit on both sides of the aisle.
Well--both sides to a degree, but if you are looking for those who fight this system, they sit on Dems side, IMO.
Try try try and try again.
The facts as indicated in Roll Call for House Resolution 311 of June 12, 2014 support your opinion.
Party |YEAS NAYS PRES NV
REPUBLICAN |221 2 9
DEMOCRATIC |42 153 4

TOTALS |263 155 13
Right--which is why they have to remove all Democrats from office. Which is a goal:http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/07/groundswell-rightwing-group-ginni-thomas
and why they wash all guilt away from their actions. Iraq? Not our fault-Obama.
Actually, one of the branches of government has become THE government. According to the US Constitution, the House of Representatives' duty is to disperse funding. The reality is that the Constitution in no way demands taxes be dispersed to Big Businesses. This became an act of generosity when the US economy was fully capable of doing so. Now, it's an annual demand by Big Businesses.
I previously was employed by 2 Fortune 50 companies back in the 80s and 90s. I worked fairly closely with the CEOs and executives. If there is one thing that most Americans don't see or hear, it's the Board Room discussions. In these discussions, the end result is to squeeze more from employees so that the executives "get more" bang for their buck.
In 2013, the US taxpayer funded $50 billion to corporations, most of whom invest part of their profits offshore, use offshore cheap labor and then stuff profits into offshore tax free havens to the tune of $33 trillion untaxed dollars. All while the government and House hand them billions in our tax dollars. Why the working class doesn't revolt is nothing short of a miracle.
Every corporation gets a tax reduction, often for just locating in a particular state. Then, the state also give them a property tax cut while utilities give them massive discounts. Who makes up these losses? Look in the mirror.
Operations of corporations today are wholly funded by US taxpayers. This is the reason some state politicians fight so hard to keep the money coming for their state's most profitable industries.
Buying politicians isn't news. Warren Harding was bought and paid for by John D. Rockefeller, Carnegie, Mellon and Morgan. All of these men hated each other and yet, sat down together to work out a plan to "buy the president" they wanted. That's how corporations takeover government.
Until Americans face the reality that there is NO connection to the formation of a government of the people, for the people, by the people and a corporation of the CEO and Board of Directors, corporations will continue to filch tax revenues they do not need nor deserve.
And--with re-districting,this will be the norm for decades to come. I just couldn't believe that someone like Mitt Romney, who practices this kind of theft, was actually up for president! My God! Colassal brain-washing going on. Horatio Alger run amuk
What remains of Carnegie's empire? Most of his steel has been sold to China. He's rolling in his grave. And John D. Rockefeller? His progeny have to rely on trusts that hand them their annual incomes. Vanderbilt? The government took over railroads.
Well, I guess you'd gave to ask: was it worth it? Is it worth it now? If you step back and ask.....does Romney really need more tax breaks, on the back of food for the poor? No way. Gvt is a force for good. Because WE make it so! We have lost our way
Sadly, Corporate America, Wall Street, and other nefarious groups were given free reign by our 'politicians for sale to the highest bidder'.
But the most disturbing thing that allowed that to happen was (is) the apathy of the people. We trusted our politicians to protect the rights of the people but failed to watch them closely to see they would do just that, instead of selling us out for bribe money.
More sadly, those in power are the only ones who can change the system they themselves created, but have no motivation to do so. So here we are in a catch 22 position with no remedies in sight.
Did you ever watch Mary Poppins? Remember that Captain who would go up on the roof and wait for the wind to change? It's changing now. Been a long time coming, but the tides have shifted. We see what promises of "trickle down" did....tolerate no more
yes, maybe so, but the changing taking place is unfortunately going to involve much violence and loss of life before those who destroyed our democracy can be ousted.

How long will it be before the flag will not be flown in public places?Given the fact that America continues to adjust the various faces of our society to accomodate the complaints of a few (i.e. No prayer in school, Dropping Christmas, Taking In God We Trust from money, etc.), how long will it be...
