I live in a country where this is the law already.
First trimester terminations are legal (if signed off by two assessing doctors - otherwise illegal...random legal thingy but good all the same) for reasons including poverty, emotional distress etc.
Second trimester are for congenital abnormalities usually incompatible with life - ancephaly (no brain) etc. or other congenital abnormalities (by choice - people can carry to term even if baby will die at birth if they want) - same as first tri tho - needs to be signed off by dr.
I've not heard of a third trimester termination done in New Zealand so I'm not sure on these - however personally - if you've got that far in a pregnancy and don't want to keep it - adoption would be easier.
Am I moderate? Probably. I'm pro-choice - it's not my place to tell anyone what to do about a pregnancy, nor is it my place to judge. Would I do it myself? No - but what works for me- isn't for everyone.
