Do you believe everything the Government tells you?
No, but I believe medical journals - science more than Fox news and media hype.
Medical journals written when? If you are inferring this is where my concern lye you are wrong. My concerns lye in what they do not know.
You sound like good volunteer quality CS. I am sure they will need many before it is done. Strange they had to kill a dog....and they didn't even put a thermometer to its head.
As ChristinS pointed out, the virus is only spread through bodily fluid contact of an infected person. It is always best to do a little research into the thing you are panicking about before spreading that panic.
Well the one that died must have spread some fluid on the new Texas victim. Huh? Guess she had no idea? They should put people like you two in charge to know how to handle it and no one panics...they just die.
As of 2013 the US population stands at 316.1 million, 2 people out of 316.1 million. You have greater odds of being struck by lightning - shall we panic about that too?
You should watch Fox News so you can find out what happened today; today. Not next month.
Listening to propaganda and fear mongering on TV instead of reading and looking for facts? No thanks - I'll stick to being educated and informed.
In case your news hasn't told you yet there are 5 at the Boston airport maybe with it now...just fell sick not meaning to bring it in? Not even from Africa. There are some facts. Where do you get your news? At the Kool Aid stand?
The Boston guy from Sunday - cleared. the ones from today - probably will be flu/colds also, but I"m sure "the sky is falling" Flu and other viruses have the same symptoms - but let's all panic instead.
I know for me, I am not overreacting/panicking, can't speak for others. Even so, Ebola is a very real threat. If you haven't already, read the book, The Hot Zone. Ebola isn't like the swine flu, if spread it can have a devastating effect on society.
I know; it is horrible and should not be taken so lightly as we can see what that can cause. It is multiplying with just a few people and who knows how many it will strike. If it hits too man care givers; then what? Now they say 70 could be at risk.
JThomp, to your question, "Do you believe everything the government tells you?"
Do you believe everything you watch on television or read in the news?
No. I believe in facts. There are currently 2 medical workers that have been infected by the patient who died from this virus. I do not base my beliefs on one source. Read about this in every major newspaper and on every network.
Those workers did not touch the germs either; they merely had an exposed area. Not airborne breathed but airborne landed on them in a small exposed area?
Let's agree it's only spread by infected fluids. It's super easy for large amounts of blood to go air born in hospital settings. Scenario - Gunshot victim w/ Ebola who has yet to show symptoms and surgeon has to use rib cage saw. It will spread.

Yep; need to load up on anti-oxidants.
There was an article out a day or so ago by the WHO I think saying Nigeria has successfully cured many and was Ebola free using some aggressive form of hydration therapy. I'm not believing it myself, but if true it's encouraging.

Exactly...too bad higher ups can't see this but maybe it is because they have their own big engines and don't give a damn about baby Johnny.

They sure will and you can be sure many will try; why not? We treat them for free and they have a better chance to live. That is what the one who died had in mind I am sure but the hospital missed it. We are not done with the chances he caused.
Ana Maria Orantes says
I have heard some doctors not so sure about that. With only a 10% chance of survival it seems we can't be too careful unless we are wanting to wipe out a few thousand. Of course the president and his family will be safe.
Couldn't agree more about the pres/politicians being safe but I sadly fear a few thousand to be a serious low ball estimate. I'd bet on millions before it's done. Some folks will hide. They will expose others. It will be like the plague of old.

People from this country are going to come here anyway they can to get help from the US not caring who they infect so why should we care to say they cant come? Not everyone; just the Ebola outbreak places. It isn't rocket science. Just common sense.
Blood test is much cheaper than treating all it gets transferred to, no?
Pollyannalana I don't understand, is this a question?? Btw I don't know how much blood tests costs, I am assuming to its more expensive then taking temperatures
I am agreeing with you.
Oh OK then cool!!!! What do you think the government and airports should do?
Do the visa restriction thing to keep them from coming in any other ways too. Only workers or those that absolutely must come in and out and we do not have to fear them.
