Is Ben Carson's path to the White House  closed ?

Do you think Ben Carson still has any viability as a Republican presidential candidate after his remarks about Gays ?

I am in the dark as to what Carson said, but if he said anything along the lines of "Being gay is against God's plan," he will lose the votes of any conservative that is for gay marriage.  Definitely he will get no love from the liberal democrats.

He said being Gay is choice because people go into prison straight and (choose to be gay). Clearly he's ignoring the fact that if there were "co-ed prisons" you'd see a lot less same sex activities! Those prisoners choose not go without sex.

dashing..his statement is as flawed as that of the people who think "if priests were allowed to MARRY, they would not sexually abuse young boys." The reality is these men are gay...G-A-Y. Is the church willing to sanction they marry men?  Moot point?

Paula, Another thing he overlooked is most so called gay sex in prison is either the result of rape or is done as a matter of survival. Physically weaker men may opt to be with one strong inmate for protection. These men don't (choose) to be gay.

dashing....Clearly he is not familiar with the age-old Inmate phrase...."Gay for the Stay." I'm afraid Dr. Ben is in irreversible denial.  His denial is a more negative exacerbation due to his PHd.  We KNOW he has to know better.

He was never going to win the Republican nomination!
Out of all the candidates being considered he is the only one who has never been elected to a government position in his life.
You'd have to go back to Eisenhower to find a president who was never elected to public office. Even with that he served the nation in high ranking military positions and was appointed Military Governor of the U.S. Occupation Zone. He worked with presidents.
The odds a doctor retiring his stethoscope and winning the highest political office in the most powerful country on earth wasn't likely. Most candidates have been senators, congressmen, or governors who have taken part in some legislation activities.

And that's fine, mio cid...this is America where anyone & everyone can write books, preach and/or get their TV airtime & 5 minutes of fame.  Success or failure there has fewer consequences than when RUNNING a COUNTRY.....Good question, Mio!

Initially, I freely admit I was very impressed with Dr. Ben Carson.  Of course, being duly impressed by someone, doesn't necessarily mean that I also believe he'd be a great candidate to run for POTUS.
Skipping right through to the recent comments he made which I read only yesterday, I feel seriously deflated.  In order to clarify this, please understand I have no terribly significant gay agendas
What literally threw me for a loop was his sad attempt at expecting us to believe HE TRULY believes what he said, rather than recognizing it for the pathetic religious slant that it really was.
A doctor, incredibly a NEURO-surgeon whose major field of study & practice is the human BRAIN, could not and would not expect to be credible in stating that homosexuality is a "choice."   I am shocked, disappointed and surely disillusioned with Dr. Ben. This was his train wreck.
Basically, he has no chance for being chosen to run.  Period.  Quite simply it would be a waste of his time, effort and funds.
Because he is anti-gay?  I think not.  But because as an allegedly intelligent, educated man of Science/Medicine/the Brain....he.would expose himself as ignorant, blind, narrow-minded & desperate, as to make such a blatantly false claim. WORSE, to use "incarcerated men" as an example...??!!   He went way too far with that claim.  Astounding.
IMHO, Dr. Carson stands now with 2 arrows pointing at him for only 2 possible choices:  1.) He's a desperate religious extremist  (NOT good in politics, as we now know)  OR  2.) He is an IGNORANT educated man (which is not only pathetic but also dangerous.
I cannot express how sad I was to experience Dr. Carson's self-induced demise from any political position.....

I agree Paula,it is mind boggling how a man with scientific acumen he possesses would have used an anecdotal account of prison life to qualify his statement about choice. But taking a cue from another black "politician" his view could "evolve"?No?

T....Dr. Ben literally flabberghasted me, which is not easy to do. Had Billy Boy Bob from Arkansas made the gay-prison connection, it could be laughable.  From a Neuro-surgeon, it is GASP-worthy. How to totally BLOW one's credibility, by Ben Carson.
