Do Politicians have to Behave  like Celebrities to win votes?

You can see politicians running for office on talk shows, radio, and appearing on SNL like Hillary did. Are politicians blurring the line between celebrity and politics?

Unfortunately, a resounding yes.  Politicians nowadays ARE celebrities.  At least that is how politicians approach politics at the present.   Politicians are in fact celebrities believe it or not.  In order to be elected, politicians must possess a large quotient of likability.  On the top of that, they must be popular in order to mass voter appeal.

Politicians are astute creatures.  They know that politics is show business and the more they turn on their star quality, the more appealing they are hence the more votes.  Politics in America has always had an element of show business but now with more advanced mass media, particular the internet, politics and entertainment are ONE.

Let's face it, the old paradigm of politicians being in office to serve their constituents is becoming a thing of the past.  Politicians view their jobs as a stepping stone to more exposure and celebrity.  It is the rare politician who sees his/her respective political office as public service.  The average politician see his/her political office as HIS/HER service and how H/SHE can gain celebrity exposure and BE MORE FAMOUS!

People have since the creation of cable news have received their information on the candidates through the swayed opinions of the media.

With the ubiquitous use of the Internet they also are trained in being pawns to the social media.
They twit, face, and share all kinds of non critical information about anybody and everybody. So the politicians have tapped into that means of social engineering.

In reality, cable news, and social media are tools to manipulate people. I believe that most people are part sheep, and they like to be liked. So they find the trend and then follow it.

We never really did have intelligent voters because it takes loyalty and not intelligence to be a party voter.

Following the sheep analogy, sheep and loyal party voters only have to follow the herd. All their steps and directions have been made for them, no independent thinking is necessary, or allowed.

So the question is not do politicians Have to behave like celebrities to win votes, but like celebrities, politicians need to make their presence known on cable news, and social media.

Barack Obama won over Hillary Clinton because he had made the best use of the Internet.
