It is not practical at this point to ban cars, but it would be helpful to de-escalate and discourage the use of cars for recreational purposes. The numbers have consistently proven that more people are killed by sober drivers than by drunk drivers. Drunk drivers are targeted and demonized primarily because it is easy to exploit.
Many along the gravy train: Lawyers, breathalyzer manufacturers and distributers, and owners, employess, and managers of our "prison for profit system", are raking in millions. MADD has been co-opted, and is being used more to generate money, than to save lives. De-escalation of the automobile, and an increase in nation-wide mass transit are currently the best, and most practical solutions.
Furthermore, why not make the breathalyzer a standard feature in automobiles? I'll tell you why: Because billions of dollars would stop flowing into greedy pockets! Capitalism, while perhaps not inherently evil, encourages evil by appealing to our selfish nature.
