What are the top 3 issues you want to hear candidates for President speak about?

Which candidates would you specifically like to hear from on those topics important to you and your family?

    1. Poverty - As long as there are poor and hungry people in the world, there will be war.

    2. Social Security - It's OUR money and we want it back when we need it. It is not the property of the government to "borrow" from. It is a fund set up to keep our old and infirm out of poverty.

    3. Getting super-pacs, special interest groups, and billionaires out of politics. Why do they want to buy politicians? It's stupid and only benefits the same self-serving rich white people.

Our government is supposed to be for the people, by the people. If it is run that way, our country will be the best in the world.

I agree with you. Also, with regards to eradicating poverty, some grow up in poverty & choose to create life & bring them up in it as well, creating generational poverty. Some make poor choices and others don't.

I agree with Austinstar. Those are definitely very important topics, but I'm going to pick 3 different choices  for good measure.  My opinions may be a little controversial...  Just my opinion, (keep in mind I value and respect everyone's opinions even when they are totally opposite of my own.)

    1) the war on terror- war in general. I think there should be an end. This may sound crazy since terrorism seems to be on the rise, but the war on terror has been around for over 10 years and is only getting worse, so in my opinion something isn't working.

    2) height of government interference - with police brutality, nsa data research, and various other problems on the rise I think government interference in lives should decline. I do believe there are too many laws in place for the American people.

    3) legalize Marijuana and tax it-maybe it's just me, but the facts are weighing out, Marijuana should be legal.  Alcohol and tobacco are legally obtained, and they are proven to be worse for health and society. Prohibition doesn't work.
I believe a Marijuana tax would be a valuable asset for America. The money to be made here could help Healthcare, education, and so many other aspects of American life. I'd rather our government have that money than local drug dealers and/or the Mexican cartel.

I agree on 1 and 2. As for making smoking of marijuana legal, I respectfully disagree as I want to deal with other's moke much like the smoke of cigarettes, cigars, etc. is bad for you, so is the smoke from weed.

I agree with these add'l topics. Especially to legalize drugs or end the war on drugs. Addiction is a medical issue. Our jails are overflowing with addicts that need medical help, not incarceration for non-violent offenses. It's tragic.

I do agree that addiction should be handled medically & that non-violent offenders shouldn't be locked away as long as violent offenders. I also agree that the war on drugs isn't working, just like the war on terror.

Good question. I haven't been watching the debates because I'm an expat in Japan. It's possible they've already talked about these issues. That said...

    1. Net neutrality. I won't go into it but Matt Inman lays it out clearly in his website, theoatmeal.com*. Please don't believe the BS: net neutrality is not a partisan issue. It affects us all equally. Without it, US companies will continue to face foreign competition blind and crippled.
    2. Hemp: hemp is not marijuana but a closely related plant. It grows like a weed and can do anything. Food, clothing, building material, paper, you name it. The only thing it can't do is be used like a controlled substance. Still, it's been banned since WWII. Why? In China, Russia and many European countries it's legal and they have no problem using and researching it while we're dead in the water. What gives?
    3. The military industrial complex. Every few years, one villain dies but another pops up. One war ends but another begins. Does anyone feel safer than they were thirty years ago? Does the US military have to be the subsidized security guards for multinational corporation assets? One guy talked about it, Dr. Ron Paul. Sadly, he's not running for president this time.
    4. (Added bonus) Labeling GMOs. No need to ban GMOs or biotech R&D, just label them and let the consumers decide. GMOs are labeled in most industrialized countries, including Russia and China. Why not the US?

    * go to your favorite search engine and search "theoatmeal net neutrality"

I could not agree with you any more than I already do, particularly regarding issues 3 and 4.
