   In an ideal world, perhaps zoos would not be necessary, however, given the environmental destruction and extinction of species, they are very necessary.
   
   Zoos are no longer there for entertainment, keeping animals in tiny concrete and steel cages, they try to keep the animals in as natural an environment as possible.
   
   Our local zoos are heavily  involved in trying to keep species from extinction, and are also members of world wide breeding plans.
   
   Yes, in my opinion, zoos are a very necessary way of sustaining rare and endangered species and keeping them from extinction.

   Zoos raise money for the care of critically endangered animals and bring the animals to human awareness in a way that encourages their preservation in the wild.
   If they were just threatening things in the wilderness and we needed something in or under that wilderness, then you kill the dangerous or cumbersome creatures in the way.

   Besides being involved preserving endangered species, including helping to maintain the populations of certain species of animals, many zoos are involved in caring for injured wildlife, environmental research, and community education, either directly or indirectly.  They offer the opportunity to teach the public about a wide variety of animals and their habitats in a safe environment, about respecting wildlife, and about having and maintaining a responsibility to be good stewards of the animal kingdom.

   nope, zoo should not exist in the first place,
   These poor wild animals are being mistreated in zoo,small space to move around and filthy cage
   
   Animals should be in the wild, safari park would be ideal

   Zoo's provide many animals with a safe haven to prevent extinction...educating people /children who may never have the opportunity to observe / view or study them...there have been many animals that die out and we were never privy to them... All Zoo's are not a negative thing...the recent news has actually created the doubt in life... without all the facts...just as humans have rights..so do animals....

   Yes, we should.  Kids need to learn about other animals, and it's cool to see them in real life.  The animals may be contained, but they are cared for.
