Why do so many voters deny the truth?

If 100 Americans witness a crime, everyone will believe them. If 100 Americans see a presidential candidate crow like a chicken, half of the country won't believe them. I even see this on HP forums and answers. I'm not taking sides because I see it on both sides. But it's scary how many people will deny the truth about their own candidate. Do you agree?

Well said, Mike. I think this is the first time I've seen someone on HP quote Confucius in a discussion about U.S. politics. :)

That is not condescending at all. I did however, get a chuckle out of it.

Sad thing is, this has all happened before, people willingly allowed themselves to be loaded up into cattle cars and sent to the slaughter... wantonly blind to the truth.

As a member of the media, I must somewhat disagree. Some media outlets fuel the problem. Respectable ones try their best to remain objective. Otherwise, they would have gone out of business a long time ago.

The "NHS claim" is a good example of "truth twisting", because the bus statement only implied something - it did not state it. The Leavers counted on people not not appreciating this discinction.

Ken, I agree with most of your points except for the last two paragraphs. What I see is a shift of a large number of people both to the far right and the far left.

Bernie Sanders is a "democratic socialist". That's very far left for this country.

Well said! That's especially true of past elections. This time, many people also consider the quality of their character. Most of the criticisms of Trump and Clinton center around their flaws.

People who plan to testify against the Clintons end up having a suspicious death. I think the body count is over 20. Ever hear of Vince Foster? When you say "Fruitless" investigations, it tells me you've never read the reports.

No one believes anything anymore -- polling, research, media, scientific studies are all "lies".

That's what propaganda does. It destroys the credibility of every responsible and ethical source of information.

    That's when dictators step in.

Hello, William. I will answer your question with a question. Does perfection exist anywhere in the universe? We will never get 100% accuracy on any subject. So we must use common sense and good judgment to decide if we get close enough to the truth.

Wars give rich men more money with blood on their hands because they either do construction (Haliburton?) or sell ammunition and tanks, etc. Good for the steel industry? They don't care if some blood is shed. As long as they get a profit

I believe we have intellectual classes of people in the same way we have social and economic classes. Higher intellectual classes try to think objectively and don't blindly follow an ideology.

I have known enough politicians to say that many of them say sweet nothings in this age of TV and Internet that captures everything.

Anymore, it's hard to tell if what a politician says is the truth or a lie because what they usually say is vague.

I don't get the connection between political and spiritual "truths".

Are you talking about the Illuminati Conspiracy connected with the Free masons and the the daughters of Jesus fleeing to Ireland?

Agree, There is something rotten in the United States. It´s not the only country though that finally got confronted with the truth (the gap between the poor and the rich - race problems, lack of proper education etc.)

If a TV camera films Trump or Clinton saying, "All voters are idiots", then any of their supporters who say media is making it up is denying the truth.
