These sightings are nothing new. All over the country there have been sightings in recent years, some exceedingly creepy encounters caught on security cameras. One in which a person dressed as a clown stood on a porch for a few hours, simply staring at the camera. Are they nefarious? Do they intend harm? Are they evil?
Doubtful. I imagine if anything was going to happen from this phenomena it would have by now. Not to say some lone prankster won't come along and by committing an act of violence or other crime give fuel to the fire of the prank being dangerous if not deadly. All the same, I believe it is simple pranksters, trying to get attention and cause a stir, just trying to scare people because to them it's fun. I am willing to wager these evil clowns would run from the police if they were to be spotted. Why? Because, that's a natural teenager response to getting caught. Either that or it's promotion for some B-Movie about clowns stalking a town or some other. The point is; throughout history these types of events have never led to anything beyond being a "mystery" as to why they did it or it's a promotion or a simple prank.
It's the weird ones that you cannot see you have to worry about.
