If congress would fund the existing gun controls, we wouldn't have to discuss this issue at every election. They need to put in whatever funds it takes to enforce the existing gun controls. Especially, the background checks. They already have lists on people that have become mentally impaired and should not have guns. But, the funds aren't there for the government to work the list adequately. I think that everyone agrees that people that have been diagnosed by medical and legal professional shouldn't be in possession of guns.
My point is that we need to enforce the existing laws and requirement before we add more laws and requirements.
Also, half of the gun deaths are from suicides. These suicides may be the result of the $25 billion in illegal drugs coming into the country every year.
It seems it would also contribute to our crimes, and the 2 million people in our jails and prisons. Open borders helps the drug cartel, but not the illegal drug takers in the US.
Gun control should be replaced by closing the borders, and finding out why so many Americans are on drugs. This also adversely affects our health care costs.
Gun control is a red herring by the left to take focus off their failures like the war on drugs, and the war on gangs and crime.
Remember, 2 million prisoners is also a budget drain. And the gangs even run their criminal activity from behind bars.
It is like the TSA to search 100% of the people to find 0.000000% terrorists. The same is true of gun owners 99.99999% don't use the guns illegally.
