Conservatives, what can Liberals learn from you if they elect to open their minds?
You may learn that we are not what has been portrayed by media and others. Conservatives want the same goals and aspirations but we have different idea of how to achieve them. We believe in the Constitution, first and foremost. We believe in individual self reliance and free enterpise system as the best way to prosperity. We believe in equality of opportunity but not of outcome. We believe the proper riole of a limited government. You can read about all these principles in my hub Conservative Principles Defined. I am glad you are curious enough to ask. I welcome discussion on any details of policy and proposed solutions.
Liberals, Moderates, & Conservatives can learn from each other. We are all one.
That is good. Dialog and debating issues is what I've been promoting. The demonization and distortions and hyperbole and scare tactics by some in media does not help move us forward.
Actually, we are not "one".
We are a group of individuals who've chosen to abide by laws that will enhance our lives. Allowing us to make choices in the market place and the way we live.
“Government is essentially the negation of liberty.” Mises
So, the more government you have, the less liberty's you have
"Government's existence is to make peaceful human coexistence possible.”
In other words, basically the Commandments - thou shall not steal, thou shall not kill, etc.
Government is NOT mind control, not climate control, not the alleviator of bias and hatred. That's left to the citizens to work together on to alleviate.
Government is NOT a market controller - it does not need to subsidize anything in the market.
Both conservatives and liberals have used the government as a means to force people to do things. Both are wrong.
When both can understand that individual liberty is paramount, that we are not "one" but a group of unique individuals with uniques biases and goals, then the government may get to the point of allowing Americans to be free.
Until both conservatives and liberals stop using the government as a police force. we citizens will always suffer under a tyrannical government.
This ain't the America the founders wanted. This is why the founders entrusted power into the hands of the people. They knew, even back in the 1700's, that government is always power and control hungry.
We citizens, have bought into the concept of socialism, which has caused the cesspool that's Amereeka today.
“Government is essentially the negation of liberty.”
We citizens have freely negated our freedoms
I agree with most of what you stated execept don't put conservatives in that basket. We were always for the Constitution and limited government. By the way, Trump is not a Conservative. He was a liberal Democrat before this election cycle.
People can disagree with you for rational reasons or even emotional ones, and you can't just blame hatred or stupidity. Scott Adam's blog on gun control/gun rights is a great example of the logic and emotions behind this.
Just because you wrap yourself in a mantle of peace, love, tolerance, smart, rational doesn't make you such - or your actions such. In fact, the Bible condemns evil in the name of good. The liberal mob beating up a homeless black woman as one says "you spew hate, you get hate" comes to mind, but there is a long list of similar horror stories at the #Hillbullies hash tag and I've heard others.
You are not so right that you can deny others their rights. If we're wrong, fine, we're wrong - but that doesn't give you the right to show up at events and shout down speakers, assault audience members, organize mob violence to scare others into submission. The latter is terrorism. The small groups chasing down Trump supporters to beat them up in San Jose and the recent group of blacks that pulled a white man from his truck to beat him, targeting him for his race and calling him a hater as they beat him ... those of modern lynch mobs. And it is fascism.
Stop and look at what you are wrong doing in the name of good and how it will hurt your political ideology the way Muslim fundamentalists / Islamic terrorism re-surging around the world has hurt the world opinion of Islam. You are guaranteeing that the next generation will be afraid of you as violent fascists, no matter the branding, because you are what you do, not what you say.

My unbiased description is this: liberals turn to government to solve their problems. Conservatives turn to business to solve their problems.
